I'd kill for something more aimed at adults, a section that appeals to our nostalgia factor, a section for adult-themed rides (Alien Encouther anybody?), with a real emphasis on thrill rides. There's a real gap that Disney hasn't touched between little kids and people with families. The adults travelling alone and the families with teens. Disney has their hands on so many adult properties, I wish they'd do something with them.
Yes, yes, I know they're doing an Avatar-themed land... But honestly... I couldn't possibly care less. The movie didn't appeal to me, a park based around it... I just don't see it having any real appeal 10, 20, or 30 years fromnow. It's a fad, not something that should have an entire area devoted to it.
Disney has a knack for dazzling people and I'd love to see that fleshed out into thrill rides in a way that truly takes people's breath away. Like The Mummy rollercoaster at Universal... That ride really stood out. It was so amazing, so edge-of-your-seat, white-knuckled, completely involved... It was awesome to do something so thrilling that truly got your whole stomach tied up in knots, where the rational part of your brain is tricked into think "OMG, what's happening!" Even with RRC, which I love, I didn't get off that ride with the same rush that I did The Mummy. I want to see Disney tackle that, turn the thrill ride into something fantastic, polished, and make us all go "HOW DID THEY DO THAT!" like people did when they did when they saw the ballroom in HM for the first time, when they saw the dinos for the first time, when they rode Alien Encounter, when they looked down the hallway of the ToT... Something where the effects are almost more thrilling than the thrill.
Think of it, it writes itself... There could even theme it so that it's centered around all the bad guys, the tricksters, the people that are so bad, they're good. Something edgy and a little wicked. The stage shows could be like that Villians book from years ago... The stories were told from the POV of the bad guys and were very tongue-in-cheek (and stopped right before they were defeated...).
The centerpiece of the park? Bald Mountain.
Somebody, get Disney on the phone. I got me ideas.
