Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend 2024

Also a heads up I discovered today. The DL Hotel no longer drops you straight into DTD. Have a whole new security check area. Which is nice. But now you have to walk a bit more.

Can you elaborate on this a little bit?

We booked DL Resort for the DL race in January. Unfortunately we could not get into VGC. But, I convinced everyone that DL Resort would be just fine. Is it going to be a major hassle to walk to the various places?

I stayed at Disneyland Hotel in January '24 and it was fine, except having to go thru 2 security check points for the race (one at DTD and one at race) Maybe 15 min walk if that and it's a good warm up to the start, you'll be fine and no hassle at all...

And does the shuttle drop you off like....where the second security gate is, I'm guessing?

I think you are referring to the fact that to get into DTD from DLH, you can go between the Adventure and Frontier towers, vs between the Fantasy and Adventure towers. Really just depends on where you stay in the DLH for most people, but if you are trying to get thru there with your chair then there is a gate to deal with now to get to DTD.

Since they've only done this weekend once, there's no pattern to go by, so it's anyone's guess. My guess is they may try to move it later due to heat issues this year, but they appeared to want to avoid the peak Halloween season for DL so I'm not sure how much later they will be willing to go.

My guess is the 4th to the 7th, but having said that I do have hotels booked for both weekends. The weather is so flukey now, and hard to predict. It did seem to be much better the following weekend this year. I loved the weekend and really hope I can register for it again!!

I am trying to get both weekends as well. We’ll see. When did they announce the race time last year? I know you could register in February.

This is only its second year for 2025. So they announced it period for the first time around Halloween. Which is when they announced the race schedule for the coming year. So whenever that drops will get the dates for this

If staying at the Villas, which would be the best route?

But, you'd be required to go through Security either way, correct?


Can anyone explain where the second security line would be? I am trying to envision it. Coming from VGC into DTD last year (non race day, just a general day), we went through security at the resort to get into DTD, but didn't go through any security between there and the park entrances.

(Doing the 5K, so presuming it will be in the park start)

I think it's anyone's guess. The Disneyland Half was always held Labor Day weekend so there's precedent there as well. Perhaps, they tried moving it off a holiday weekend this year to help for better crowd management. Race weekend plus holiday weekend will mean more crowds. This was my first Disneyland race weekend not held during a holiday weekend and the crowds were lower. Which was nice in the heat.
