A new code twist....

Just got off the phone with my mom. She had made a reservation using the code, but told them she had left the pin at home. She doesn't have a pin number, but was just trying to use the code I told her about.

Well she booked the week of August 21st, but found out that my neice who is going with them will start school that week. So she called back to try to change and they asked her for the pin code, they had made a note on her reservation that she had left it at home. They said they couldn't make any changes until she called back with the pin code. So she called back today and just told them that she didn't have one. The CM talked to her supervisor and they changed her dates for her from the week of the 21st to Aug 12-18 at the same rate. So she got the 40% outside of the dates. They told her they would honor the rate.

Just thought I would pass that on. I haven't yet heard of anyone getting it totally outside of the dates. My mom didn't really know much about all this. I just emailed her the codes and the dates and told her to give it a try. I guess she had pretty good luck.

What are dates and what are you talking about?

It seems to me that with flights and everything it always seems to cost me about 1,000 per person.

The infamous 40% code that has been debated for the last few weeks. THere are several threads that reference this. I'm not sure how to link to them though.

I think anyone expecting this kind of result would get very frustrated in a hurry.

Your mom got a couple of great CM's who took care of her.. But I wouldn't recommend anyone count on this result. :|

Exactly, your Mom is very lucky that they let her do this.

She is lucky. I was very surprised by this. I wasn't able to get the exact hotel that I wanted myself but I did get the rate, so no complaints here. The CM even checked with her "supervisor" before doing this.

I think it really just goes to show that we have no idea what is going on down there with these codes. I'm not sure they do either!

I'm really happy for my mom that she was able to get the dates she needed and will be able to go now. My neice is five and it would be really hard for me if we took our daughter in June and my neice didn't get to go at all. So now she will get to go in August.

Congrats :woohoo: you are the 'exception to the rule'.

How does one get this code that is being bandied about?? :)

I'm sorry, but I can't say "congratulations" to you. I am really appalled that first of all you knowingly told your Mom to lie about having a PIN and then expected a discount you weren't supposed to get. It's amazing that you/she got an offer, but why would you post something like this? I'm not "holier than thou" and can't say I've never taken advantage of a situation but I wouldn't post it on a message board as an accomplishment. I guess people feel it's okay to lie, cheat, and take advantage of Disney because after all, Disney has lots of money and are making money off us anyway, other people have done it and managed to get away with it knowingly, etc. but what kind of message does that send to others, esp. children? ---Kathy

Sorry to OP but I agree with Kathy

WTG, Kathy. I totally agree. Thanks for the great post - well said.

That's interesting. When I tried to switch our dates to May 24 th just a few days before the dates on the pin discount (May 27th on mine) they said they could not do it and they gave me the price which was bout $1100 more than our October rate at the Poly. Needless to say we are waiting for October since it's worth saving over a $1000 to us.

Uh huh.. what she said.

I actually GOT a code e-mail, but since the dates didn't work for me I deleted it and just booked for when we can go - paying rack rate because I don't belong to AAA or anything else. I probably could've tried to play an angle there, but I figured the bad karma would catch up eventually. I'd hate to be checking in and then be told "Sorry... you'll have to pay full rate" when I wasn't expecting it.

I got my first ever Pin # Jan 31 :goodvibes Was so excited booked for a quick trip for my daughter's b day. Then when I read how so many people share them...I was like...oh not a big thing I guess:confused: I just thought Disney would be more strict with it!

DisBride:

Normally they are very strict with it. Something went wonky this time around and CMs got confused.

Geez Louise, you certainly are "holier than thou" I mean if you can't say that you have never taken advantage of a situation, than who are you to look down your nose at others; "those who live in glass houses", "he who is without sin, cast the first stone". You have sent the same lie, cheet and steal message with your prior devious action(s) of taking advantage.

The fact of the matter is, that she was honest and said that she didn't have the PIN, and they still honored the code. Therefore big bad Disney was able to bend the rules, and was not put out in any way by this. If they were they would not have done it.

I'm not going to go back and forth on this. I told my mom about the code when all this first came out on this board a few weeks ago. I also booked a trip for myself.

I am not the first one on this board, nor will I be the last that has used this code that didn't have a pin. I am not the first one on this board that shared it with someone else be it in my family or on a public message board.

I am HAPPY that my mother was able to use this code. She was honest with them that she did not have a pin. DISNEY chose to let her apply the code, and DISNEY chose to let her have a date outside the specified dates.

This is not a "take advantage of Disney b/c they have lots of money thing". I don't think that ANYONE takes advantage of Disney. Disney is well aware of what they are doing. We are the ones that have been speculating over this for weeks.

There is and has been more than one thread related to the people that used the code that didn't have the pin. I am THRILLED that I was able to use the code. I called in and asked if I could use it and they applied it.

I find it hard to believe that there is anyone that has not taken advantage of a situation that was put in front of them to save some money. I highly doubt that any one of you that wants to sit back and admonish the rest of us, would have turned it down had you been offered 40% off the rate of your room.

Furthermore, I never told my mother to lie about this, and I did not lie when I called. I asked if I could use it and was told yes. My mother did not try to cheat disney, she tried to change her date and asked if she would be able to get the same rate, and was told yes. I didn't EXPECT any kind of discount. I was happy to get it, but had I not, I could not have complained. But I imagine that those that got it were supposed to. Disney knows what they are doing, and could have and would have stopped all this weeks ago if they wanted to.

I am not asking for you to congratulate me, and I am certainly not the first to post that the discount was applied and to be excited about it. My post was simply to point out that none of us has any idea what Disney is doing, and just when we think we have guessed they will do something that will surprise us again.

So you can get down off your horse now and join the rest of us in the real world. No one is taking advantage of Disney, nor are they trying to. No one is lying or cheating or stealing. I don't think Disney would let much of that slide. Its the year of a million dreams. Maybe they are just making a few come true.

If you have a personal issue with me or what I did, feel free to PM me about it and I will be glad to discuss it with you. But please do not keep going on this thread. I will not be part of creating a mess for the mods. I was simply pointing out another twist to the code, not trying to stir the pot and cause problems.
