A Mouse, an Alien and Two residents of Halloween Town Dine/Updated 11/19 Chef de Fran

Sally,

Thanks for the great pics and reviews so far. I just LOVE your little counterparts next to the food! :lovestruc

Lurker coming out....I love your counterparts in the pick next to the food! That is such a great idea. Thanks for reviewing...I always love to see what everyone else likes at the world.

Loving your reviews, and I'll chime in with all those who love the idea of your little "selves" next to each meal - so cute!

Pizzzfari, it's like Safari - - get it?

That was our stupid joke most of the time we were in AK.

I was pleasantly surprised by Pizzfari. We wanted to save Flame Tree for later in the week. I love the atmosphere, really bright and fun.

I got the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. I was able to get a salad instead of a dessert. The chips were out of pocket; I could have used a snack credit but wanted to save them for EPCOT's F&W. The roll fell apart and I gave up on it and ate most of it with a fork and knife.

Zurg got the Hot Italian Style Sandwich and the chocolate cake. He said it was really good. He paid out of pocket for the chips.

More later.

Those sandwiches used to come with a bag of chips - is that no longer true, since you had to pay OOP for them?

Count me in as a a fan of the little "alter egos" next to each item. That's a lot of work to photograph all of that!

Thanks, I borrowed the idea from a trip report that I saw a couple of years ago and expanded on it.

Thanks it was a lot of fun worth the funny looks from other diners.

Isn't that grilled turkey sandwich at Backlot a tasty little thing?:thumbsup2
The grilled turkey was one of my counter service faves.

Great no nonsense reviews so far...and I love your little characters!!
Thanks so much.

I LOVE your reveiws!
Thanks.

The bag of chips was a snack credit or out of pocket. What is a sandwich without chips?

We went to Mama Melrose's later that night. Last year we loved it here. This year not so much. The service was awful. The food was o.k., the only good thing was the dessert.

Jack, Zurg and I had the Wood-Grilled Shrimp. It was luke-warm and not really seasoned well. A big disapointment.

Minnie had the Vodka Pasta and it was not a hit with her at all. This was not warm either.

The dessert on the other hand it great. Hazelnut Ricotta Cheesecake is to die for.

Jack kept it simple with chocolate ice cream.

I do not know if we will go again. HS is the worst park for food. I like 50's Prime Time but it is so hard to get a reservation. Sci-Fi seems fun but the negative reviews have always kept me away.

The next day we returned to AK and we were looking forward to Flame Tree BBQ. The ribs were good but I think that compared to the ribs at Cosmic Rays the Cosmic Rays ribs win out. I did not get a picture either time of the ribs at Cosmic Rays but you can see them in my food report from last year. The Flame Tree ribs did not seem as good as in previous years. I think next time we will explore other counter service options at AK.

We all go the same meal:

That night we went to The Yak and Yeti. We were all excited to go here because we saw it under construction last year. This was one of our best meals. The only issue was another diner. A little boy behind me decided he did not want to be in the high chair and for 15 minutes straight screamed and screamed. To make things worse he hit his Mom over and over again. Don't get me wrong I expect crying children at WDW but this was out of hand. This put a bit of a damper on the beginning of the meal. Minnie, Zurg and I did order this drink to calm our nerves. It was so good, I forget the name but it was so good I got brain freeze from drinking it so fast.

Zurg and I got the Shaoxing Steak & Shrimp. Everything about this dish was excellent. The sauces for the shrimp were sweet and tasted wonderful, the steak and rice were perfect.
yakandyeti3.jpg

Minnie got the ribs, her second ribs of the day! She did not like them. The sauce was not to her liking. She was not impressed as Zurg and I were about our entrees.
yakandyeti4.jpg

Jack got Sweet and Sour Chicken which is one of his favorite meals at home. He loved it and said it was as good as he gets at home.
yakandyeti2.jpg

The Fried Wontons were a perfect end to a great meal. We all loved them and can't wait to come back and try them again.
yakandyeti5.jpg

Jack got who said that he would never like sorbet but ordered to try it. He ended up loving it and eating most of it.

If you have not tried Yak and Yeti or on the fence about it, give it a try. You won't regret it.

I know I said I did not want to eat burgers at WDW. But, I broke my promise twice, the second time was in the American pavilion in EPCOT.

Zurg, Minnie and I all got the Cheeseburger and Fries with the Cherry Slushie as our drink and the Apple Cobbler for dessert. The fries and the Apple Cobbler were great, the burger was O.K. When will I learn! Next trip I will not get one burger!

Jack got the boneless wings which is his favorite food. He loved it and ate it all. Chocolate is also a staple of his diet so he ordered the chocolate cake once again.

Coming up The Wave.

The next time you are in Epcot go to Le Chefs de France and get a burger...they are amazing!!!

Sorry I have been away, work and non-Disney life has been all consuming. On with the reviews......

Chef de France was our favorite. After a very rude Hostess we were a little scared about how the would be. But we had no reason to worry because our server was great. She was very friendly and made great suggestions.

Jack, Minnie and Zurg got the Filet de boeuf grille, sauce au poivre noir Gratin Dauphinois et haricots verts. I was a little sorry I did not get this because they were raving. It was perfectly cooked and the potatoes were to die for.
chefdefrance.jpg

I got the Braised Short Ribs. These were excellent. The meat was so tender. I really enjoyed every bite.
chefdefrance2.jpg

For dessert Minnie and Zurg got the crepes and loved them.
chefdefrance3.jpg

Jack got ice cream again.
chefdefrance4.jpg

I finally got creme brulee. I was so good, crunchy on top and wonderful custard on the bottom.
chefdefrance5.jpg

We will go to Chef de France again and again.
