Welcome friends, to another edition of Adventures in Autism: Walt Disney World! Yes, you guessed it -- I finally have another Disney vacation in the works, this time for November, 2011!

You may recall that, sadly, we were not able to visit WDW as a family last year; although I was lucky to have been able to share a fabulous extended weekend trip with friends this past January. Its been almost two years since I last shared the Disney experience with my husband and children; perhaps thats why Im twice as excited about our current plans!
Now, before I get into the significance of my reports title, let me give you the basic info:
Cast:
Kathy: (Thats me!) Mom, RN, Writer/Blogger, and all-around Disney Nut!
Ed: (DH) Dad, Cop, all-around Great Guy!
Trish: (DD-15) Honor Student, Amateur Photographer, all-around Lovely Daughter!
Billy: (DS-13) Special Needs Student, Belly-Laugher, all-around Wonderful Son! (Who just happens to have Autism.)
**Edited 8/11 to Mommy & Billy Only**

Confession Time: Ive been a bad, bad trip-reporter.

Every November NJ teachers have a two-day convention on the Thursday and Friday after Election Day, so public schools are closed for three days that week. Letting kids miss two days of school so the family can enjoy a magical week-long vacation is a no-brainer for Jersey parents. The crowds, although not light, are better than they are during Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas breaks. And the heat, humidity, and daily afternoon thunderstorms that are the bane of Central Florida summers? Fuhgeddaboudit! In November the average high temperature is 79°F the average rainfall 2.3 inches. Perfect weather, really!
So, if Jersey Week is so perfect, then how did I get this close to planning our trip to Walt Disney World during the insanely busy week of Christmas vacation only to scrap that idea in favor of gasp! A Mom-and-Son-Only trip in early December? And how did those plans get dumped in favor of returning to our old standby?
The answers to those questions, and more, will be found in the next installment
Kathy
