Very funny, Pat! Guess I deserve it, though! ;) I'll try to fill in with some of the 2009 story...

Just letting you know I missed you. I know life gets in the way and after a while you just need to let it go but I enjoyed that TR as I do this one and look forward to having some closure on the old one. :goodvibes

I do feel bad about leaving everyone hanging... will try to re-cap a bit within this PTR (like "dream sequences" on TV!)

I'm definitely in!

Hey Jen! :wave2:

We're going in June! :yay:

Nice to meet you, Reddy! Billy is verbal, but not very conversational! (He scripts a lot)

I see you're a scrapper -- do you know Julie (mouse_scrapper) ?

Kathy

sounds like my sons classmates - love it when they get on a Disney kick
love when you say Hi "their name" & they repeat Hi "their name" I'm fine:lmao:

sometimes they keep it up so all you have to do is smile while you find out that you are fine too & it is pretty outside(could be raining or snowing even sunny)

I believe I seen the name but at this moment I'm not sure

Hi Jenny! Thanks for hopping over (and for reading my blog!)

Have you seen this website? My cyber-friend Ray and his wife are Disney travel agents and parents of a child on the Spectrum. They created this as a resource for families like ours....

Count me in! Even though I don't post much, I love reading your trip reports and blog posts Kathy. I'm planning on living vicariously through others trips for awhile since our upcoming trip may have to hold us for the next year or two. :guilty:

Joining in!
I've read your other reports and have enjoyed them.
Can't wait to read more!

Yay! First-time commentor; I have loved your past TRs, and they played a big role in my determination to have a WDW trip this summer. My 7yo daughter has Asperger's.

Looking forward to more of your wonderful writing!:cool1:

Halloween, 2010: Disney Depression Sets In

It was the one-year anniversary of our family’s last trip to Walt Disney World and I was missing it terribly, especially knowing that we would not be able to take a vacation that year. *Heavy Sigh* We had been extremely blessed to have been able to visit Disney every year for five years in a row and I was truly grateful. But, let’s face it: I had become spoiled. That one year of waiting had been difficult and now an even more painful Year Two was about to begin. :sad2:

I began to reminisce about our trip and talk dreamily to the family about the next one, in November 2011. To my surprise, I got shot down immediately!

I already explained how Jersey Week gave us the best of all worlds… good weather, lower crowds, minimal loss of school time for the kids. Well, for my daughter Trish, the High School freshman, that minimal loss was no longer acceptable.

*Readers of previous reports may have noticed that “Tricia” is now being referred to as “Trish.” That is per her request.

Trish was adamant that a week at Walt Disney World would be out of the question. “I can’t miss any school, Mom, I’ll fall too far behind!”

Puh-leez! What drama! The kid is a solid B+ student, and that’s while carrying two Honors classes. Missing two measly days of school couldn’t affect her GPA all that much!

Okay… before I incur the wrath of my DIS teacher-friends… :teacher: YES, I applaud her commitment to her grades, of course I do. And YES, she does have perfect attendance so far this year. And, she is thinking of taking a third Honors class next year. And, she is planning to go out for soccer next fall and unlike field hockey (which she played this past year) the soccer season stretches into Novemer, which means games will be missed.

Oh, poop! :headache:

So it seemed that Jersey Week was out, leaving me three less desirable alternatives: Summer Vacation, Spring Break, or Christmas Break.

Summer (August, since Billy attends summer school in July) – BLECHH! I honestly don’t think I could tolerate that Central Florida heat and humidity; it would ruin my trip. However, the crowd levels would be good, especially in the last two weeks. But then, Ed reminded me that he would most likely be taking intensive summer courses again, so that was the end of that idea!

Spring Break – UGH! Easter Week is so crowded and expensive, DVC points-wise. Crowded conditions are definitely not good when mixed with Billy’s sensory and behavior issues. But, the weather would be more tolerable than August, that’s for sure.

Christmas Break – GAGHH! The MOST crowded, MOST expensive week to visit Walt Disney World! And the weather can be quite unpredictable. It is, however, the most festive time of the year! :santa:

With August eliminated I now had to choose between busy, expensive Christmas Week of 2011 and busy, expensive Easter Week of 2012! Since there really didn't seem to be that much difference in crowds and costs, I chose Christmas Week and began to plan accordingly. We would have to reduce our stay from the usual seven nights to six in order to make up for the additional point cost of our DVC accommodations, and I would have to seriously alter our touring plans so that Billy could have plenty of breaks but hey… we were going to Disney and that’s all I cared about! :cool1:

Until…

To Be Continued

Kathy

:woohoo: at being able to visit Disney World at Christmas!! It seems like a great time to go apart from the crowds!

Trish seems like a great student - if my mum had mentioned Disney when i was younger I would have gone no matter what!

Also I read your blog post. You sure are a great writer! I also listened to Lou (who I had never heard before) and now have bookmarked the page for easy reference :thumbsup2
