i'll just keep my fingers crossed...

Looks like I'll be seeing Jim Caviezel. Wish I was getting there in time to see Heather Headley--she is such a wonderful performer. I'm sure she'll be one of the best at this.

Okay guys...color me stupid but who exactly is Heather Headley? I'm clueless I guess. That's who we'll be seeing/hearing when we go.

Heather Headley was the original Aida in Disney's "Aida" on Broadway. She won a Tony for the role. She was also played "Nala" in The Lion King on Broadway.

Sorry, I am not the best at this. Who are these people?

Kirk Franklin (12/2-4)
Jim Caviezel (12/5-7)
Marlee Matlin (12/8-10)

Thanks!
Gina

Cool! Thanks for the info!

We will be there on 12/6 when Jim Caviezel is narrating. He played Jesus in the "Passion of the Christ". He is a fabulous actor and was amazing as Jesus.

Gina, your best bet would be to try a google search on the names you don't know. Many sites provide a picture which is the easiest way to recognize someone usually. I don't know Kirk Franklin but the other two are actors. Jim was in Frequency with Dennis Quaid and also portrayed "Jesus" in the spring's Passion of the Christ (controversial Mel Gibson film). Marlee Matlin is a hearing-impaired actress who has frequently appeared on West Wing. She also made a movie that was very big many years ago with William Hurt called "Children of a Lesser God".

Looks like my choices will be Steven Curtis Chapman or Edward James Olmos. Anyone want to give their opinions on either of these two? Any reasons to choose one over the other?

Thanks!

Melanie

I've seen them both. Steven Curtis Chapman is very "into the spirit." He sings along with the choirs on some of the numbers and gives a very impassioned reading.

Edward James Olmos is a bit lower key, but does a wonderful, more soft-spoken reading. He welcomes the crowd in both English and Spanish and does some very moving comments at the end.

Sounds like I can't go wrong either way. Thanks for the advice!

I was plannig to book the CP fro Christmas Eve, now I'm not so sure. I was hoping for someone else. :sad1: :sad1:

I'd love to see Edward James Olmos. If anyone else around here is old enough to remember him, he was in Miami Vice, the very cool, calm policeman (can't remember the character's name).

I'm so excited! Our tentative schedule had us going to the CP on the 6th of December and we are really excited to hear that Jim Caviezel will narrate. He was amazing in the Passion of the Christ as Jesus.

:sunny:

Now we're just waiting until we can make PS for the CP package.

Thanks we will be seeing Jim Caviezel (12/5-7) He sounds wonderful.....Now waiting for the dinner packages to go on sale....

This also may be a dumb question....BUT...how is Marlee Matlin going to tell the story since she is hearing impaired?

Kirk Franklin is a gospel singer.

She has a speaker accompanying her. The last time I believe it was someone she was on a TV show with.

Gary Sinese has done Christmas week for the past three years or so. It wasn't likely they'd look for someone else ...

She signs the narration and has an interpreter do the speaking. One year, it was the guy who worked with her on "The West Wing." She was great to watch ... he was a little underwhelming in the narration department. But then, it must be difficult when you're not an actor, you just work for one!
