When my niece was little and staying with us, DH would do just that when she had "to go" when he was out alone with her. She would close her eyes, and lay her head on his shoulder and he would carry her into the rest room straight to a stall. They would reverse the procedure when done. It's just one of those things you have to do.

I have also had plenty of toddlers peek under my door, but a 12 or 13 year old is way out of line. I would have been upset at that one.

I've gotten a few comments, but they are mostly from young girls letting me know that my son, who is also tall for his age, was in the wrong place or that he shouldn't be there. I usually just smile or say authoritaively "He's allowed to be here. He's with me." I really don't care, but I think my son felt awkward in thiese situations. And, yes, it would be great if there were more family bathrooms. I'm sure there are a lot of single dads with young girls who would be very uncomfortable with the lack of privacy.
