A Mickey Santa Hat Emergency!

(I have no idea where to put this....but I guess it's about spending money...it doesn't seem to fit anywhere else!)

So our family was at WDW in November. Soon after we left, my husband mentioned he regretted not getting the Santa Mickey and Minnie hats (see link here). He said he would have liked to have them to wear on Christmas Day.

I agreed....and secretly ordered one for each of us, the Minnie one from ebay and the Mickey one from DisneyStore.com. I ordered it on Dec 6th, thinking that was plenty of time, given the 7-9 day shipping time they promise.

Well, that was stupid apparently, since I got my ebay one right away and I still have not recieved the Mickey ones from Disney. My tracking number says that it's in Ann Arbor, MI for some reason (I'm in Indiana) and it has been for days. It looks like it's basically lost and given that we are leaving Sunday to spend Christmas with family in Kansas City, it looks like we won't get it in time.

I called Customer Service and while she was very nice, she also said that there wasn't anything she could do - she couldn't refund the money until it definitely didn't show up ever (how long was not specified), and she can't express ship me another one because they are sold out.

In hindsight, I think that's a bunch of bull. I could be wrong, but I'm willing to bet they are still WELL stocked with these at the Disney Parks. It shouldn't be too hard to call them up and have one shipped. But anyway.

Anyone have any great ideas on how to get a Mickey Santa Hat before Christmas? I checked ebay and at this point I would literally have to pay $65 to make that happen (given express shipping plus the hiked up rates of the hats this close to Christmas). I'm super sad I wasn't able to make this happen....and honestly frustrated that Disney wasn't more helpful via customer service....

Disney Parks and the Disney Store are separate so they can't just call them up and have them ship one. You can call Disney Merchandising Guest Services 877-560-6477 which can try and locate the item for you in the parks and see if they can ship it to you.

I know the post office is very bad with tracking right now. There are other threads talking about tracking showing things sitting for days and the item being delivered before tracking is updated. I know I put something in the mail this past Monday but tracking only said "electronic shipping notification received" until this morning when it updated to showing it is in the town it needs to be (Pittsburgh to Florida).

Anyway, what I'm getting at is that it may be moving through the system and is close to being delivered but the tracking is not updated yet. Not sure how it was shipped from Disney Store, but that might be the issue.

Oh and if it was send FedEx Smartpost, I find that usually screws up tracking information.

Try Walgreens or a Kmart/Sears.
Walgreens normally have the mickey santa ears on a headband
Kmart/Sears normally has the santa hat with ears..

Are you crafty? I think it would be easy enough to turn a regular santa hat into a Mickey santa hat by adding some ears...Might not be what you wanted, but would be better than nothing!

Rip the bow off your Minnie hat and give it to your hubby. When you get home and the second hat has arrived you can just reattach the bow for next year.

I knew you guys would be able to help! I called around the CVS and Walgreens and so far no luck, but I'm going to keep trying. Taking off the bow is a good idea, but I got the impression that he wanted us to wear them together. If it comes down to that as a last resort though, I probably will. I'm not super crafty so I'm just afraid it would turn out awful.

I saw plenty at out local Kmart yesterday. Not quite as nice as the Disney ones, but only $9.99 regular price and may be on sale. Donna

Well...I did find a backup one at CVS (it's not the same - its a different color and says "HO HO HO", but it will do for now)....and USPS tracking said it DID move since the last time I looked. (From MI to PA to OH....I'm in Indiana!) So I guess i have something I guess....and we'll at least have it for next year. I'm still pretty unhappy with the Disney Store about it, though. According to their tracking numbers, it didn't even get shipped out until Dec 16th - ten days after I ordered it. To me, that's not really leaving much room to blame the post office.

At least you have something. You are right that the Disney store is more to blame than the Post office. We went to the Post office to send something cross country on the 13th and were told it would get there yesterday, I do not know if it arrived yet. The bracelet i ordered from Disney store arrived in about a week.

I just saw this, I'm so sorry I didn't respond - I wasn't on the boards at all after we left for Christmas vacation with the family! This was so sweet and gracious of you, thank you so much for the offer. I ended up buying one at CVS (not a great one, but it did the job for this year), and then we did get it in the mail after Christmas. I figure next year our 2-year-old can have the CVS Mickey hat, and my husband can have the one we now have.
