Hi everyone,
There have been a lot of questions and comments in the past few days regarding the recent banning of EROS.

I just want to clarify that we NEVER discuss the banning of a poster with others, not only because the poster is not around to defend themselves but also, frankly it is no one's business. And we won't allow threads asking about the banned poster, as no one other than the poster and the Webmasters know what transpired to cause the banning. Threads like that tend to lead to conjecture and innuendo. We would not want to publicly embarass anyone, banned or not.

For those that think this is unfair, I'm sorry, but we will not change that policy for anyone, we try to be fair to all posters here.

I hope that explains it.
Cathy

I'm....well, that's news to me. I missed things.

:::long, long pause:::

I've no doubt that it's a fair decision. But I really would like to say good-bye EROS, and stay well. Peace.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I am not a poster "in the know" and had no idea what was going on and it made me sad.:(

So EROS if you are lurking I just want to say best wishes to you!!!

WebmasterCathyCanada,

Just out of curiosity is there like a probational period of exile? Or are they just gone never to return?

I thought he left, I didn't know he was banned.

I have a question I've wondered about for a while. I don't know if you will be able to answer, but I'll ask anyway. I'm just curious - can people who are "banned" still come here to just read the boards (even though they can't post messages), or are they prohibited from coming to this site at all?

Not sure who's questioning and commenting, but from the replies on this thread, the majority know nothing about it...

But they do NOW!;)

There have been at least two posts that I know of asking where Eros is. People are asking and I think that Cathy just wants to put an end to it. I too am clueless as to what transpired because I don't open threads that I know are going to be a debate. If I wanted a debate I would go to that board.

GEM, yes they can read, just not post.

palm, do you want to know for future personal reference?? ;) When people are nicely asked not to return because of their behaviour, we expect them to honor that. If they can't, we help them find the door again.

They could use a different email address and sign up again; just would need a different user name. I'm guessing this is right.

Hey Tag Fairies...I think I really need that Clueless tag now. As usally I was clueless about this. I should be the president of the Clueless Club because I NEVER know what's going on. But at least I know I wasn't one of the ones asking about it :)

Add me to the Clueless Club. Although, I did read the thread or maybe it was a debate about the Iraq war. I didn't post - the thread was an uncomfortable one to read let alone post on it.

Oh well... back to the clueless land! :)

I've seen that happen on other Message Boards, usually sports or computer gaming oriented. When that happens the poster usually gives away their identity pretty quickly through a slip-up or, in some cases, their writing style.

Would it be possible to alter the rules so that if someone were to ask a direct question as to whether someone was banned or not, that they are able to get a yes or no answer?
Or
Possibly an announcement message at the top. I'm not asking for an explanation, just a statement of fact?

I'm clueless too. I took a few days break from this forum (went to Cooking, Crafts & Scrapbooking) and missed everything. Oh well.

Like someone said earlier... if it looked like a debate type thread -- I didn't open it (usally). :)
