Weather ~ rain, rain and more rain 74*F

A Merry Mickey Christmas INDEX

Christmas Day and we woke to rain. :sad2: After exchanging cards we set off for Magic Kingdom as we had an 8:15am ADR for breakfast at Crystal Palace. The rain put paid to photos of a deserted Main Street but I didn't mind too much because we'd taken plenty on our last trip in 2007 when we'd had breakfast in the Castle.

Breakfast with Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore was very pleasant. We've been here twice for dinner but this was our first time for breakfast and it won't be our last. We gave the girls their Christmas presents ~ we gave them each some $ and jewellery ~ and had left a stocking for each of them in the UK to open when we got home.

We were surprised how quiet the park was this morning ~ perhaps the rain kept the crowds away. It kept showering on and off although it was very hot when the sun was out. We tried to watch Dream Along with Mickey but it had to be cancelled because the surface was too slippery.

I actually managed to take photos of the mosaics inside the Castle ~ I've never managed to do this before as there's always been too many people walking through.

Don't ask me why this one's wonky ~ perhaps at the time I thought it would look artistic??!! :rotfl:

Luckily the rain stopped long enough for the early Christmas parade which we watched again ~ I never tire of parades and especially not this one!

We did some shopping, rode Space Mountain a couple of times (5 mins wait) then watched Mickey's Philharmagic ~ I LOVE this. We also rode Big Thunder Mountain a couple of times but it wasn't a day for riding Splash!

Then the heavens opened and it was an absolute deluge from then on. Everyone disappeared into the shops and Main Street was totally deserted. Thank goodness we had our ponchos with us and, although I'd love to have taken a photo of us in the rain, it was so heavy that I was too afraid to get my camera out, if only I'd brought my underwater one with me. We had to make our way to Tony's in Town Square for our Christmas lunch and we got drenched wading our way through the 6" of rainwater that was just sitting on the ground.

Our meal was delicious. To start Samantha and Danielle had the toasted cheese and garlic bread topped with tomatoes

Francesca had minestrone soup (can't find the photo of this but we all know what it looks like :rotfl: )

Bryan chose butternut squash soup

whilst I had zucchini fries with a sundried tomato dip. Mmmmmmm

For our main course Bryan had calzone and fries

Samantha had the meatball sub and fries (can't find this photo either)

Danielle chose chicken caesar salad

Francesca opted for meatballs and spaghetti

whilst I chose the shrimp scampi which was linguini with sundried tomatoes and asparagus in garlic.

We were all pretty full by now but, with the exception of Danielle, we managed to squeeze a dessert in.

Samantha and Francesca had an ice-cream bomb

Bryan chose spumoni

whilst I had a pistachio creme brulee which I will swear is the best creme brulee I have ever tasted.

We were seated in the conservatory and as we finished our meal with a pot of tea we watched the Christmas parade yet again!

Although not our usual turkey and trimmings Christmas lunch it was a fabulous meal in a lovely restaurant with a great server, Stacy, and I'd definitely eat here again.

By the time we left, it was nearly 5pm and it was getting dark so we bought a couple of presents for our dogs in the Firehouse then drove back to the hotel.

It had finally stopped raining by now but the girls just wanted to relax so we left them watching Enchanted and POTC2 on the television whilst Bryan and I went to Celebration to watch their snowfall and had the most delicious hot chocolate sat relaxing in the rocking chairs by the lake.

The Christmas tree at Celebration.
