A Magical Place at a Magical Time of Year

D. Little Rock!

D. Haunted Mansion.

Mom's favorite ride!
"Hurry back.... Hurry back.... be sure to bring your .... death... certificate..." Blue ghost lady up in the rafter at the end.
You get 1 point for Little Rock, 1 for Haunted Mansion, and 2 extra points for the details. I love that quote.

Being out for over a week from the DIS is not good for my trivia scores :(
That's ok - it's all in fun. And we have 119 days that you can catch up. :)

Let me fix the tally, since our posts crossed.
Point tally:
Ashley - 9
Amy - 4
Ann - 20
Tammie - 23

117 days until Disney. On the loading dock of Jungle Cruise, there is an advertisement for a tour company. What is its name?
a.) Lotus Tours
b.) Soupy Sails
c.) Nile River Cruise
d.) Jungle Cruise Tours

Still waiting for Haley to answer yesterday's question over on Facebook. I copy and paste the correct answer over here to the DIS.

But here's today's question while you wait:

116 days until Disney. What are the names of the water taxis in World Showcase at Epcot?
a.) The Friendship Launches
b.) Epcot Water Taxis
c.) World Water Taxis
d.) There's one named for each of the countries in World Showcase.

For some reason I thought there were only two, but I'm going to guess D. :confused3

I like making random guesses. :lmao:

A....dang it Ann beat me! I have a picture! BUT THEY ARE ACTUALLY CALLED BOATS ACCORDING TO DIS Transportation page....

Friendship Boats

When using the Friendship Boats, plan on a leisurely (s-l-o-w) voyage to your destination. Walking is often faster but after a long day at the parks, a nice, relaxing boat trip can be a welcome change of pace.

The Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Dolphin and Swan Resorts exclusively use water transportation to get to both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios. TIP: The wait for Disney's Hollywood Studios boat can be daunting, especially when the park has just closed, the line is a mile long, and no boat's in sight. There's a very nice walking path to the resorts that you can use instead.

Within Epcot

Beginning at 11:00am, the Friendship boats begin running. There are two runs, both originating from launches found at World Showcase Plaza. One goes to Morocco, the other to Germany. The last boat from the World Showcase leaves at 7:15pm. The last boat from the countries leaves at 7:30pm.

On the loading dock of Jungle Cruise, there is an advertisement for a tour company. What is its name?
a.) Lotus Tours
b.) Soupy Sails
c.) Nile River Cruise
d.) Jungle Cruise Tours
Answer: a.) Lotus Tours. you can see a sign for Lotus Tours in the Jungle Cruise queue line as you prepare to board. According to the ad this fictitious tour company can take you to such exotic lands as Malay, Burma, Siam, Cambodia, and the ancient ruins of Bangkok.
(I searched and searched and could not find a photo of this sign.)

tankgirl gets a point. :thumbsup2

What are the names of the water taxis in World Showcase at Epcot?
a.) The Friendship Launches
b.) Epcot Water Taxis
c.) World Water Taxis
d.) There's one named for each of the countries in World Showcase.
Answer: a. The Friendship Launches. Eight 100-passenger water taxis known as Friendship Launches take guests across the World Showcase Lagoon. Docks are located near Mexico, Canada, Germany, Morocco, and World Showcase Plaza. The launches also transport guests to the Epcot Resort hotels, the BoardWalk and Disney's Hollywood Studios.

tankgirl, I also was thinking there were only 2, but I guess they are also counting the ones over by the resorts. And maybe only 2 are in operation at any given time inside World Showcase Lagoon.

Ann gets a point.

Tammie gets a point for the correct answer, plus bonus points for the photo and the running time details. Total 3 points.

Point tally:
Ashley - 9
Amy - 4
Ann - 21
Tammie - 26

What attraction was "flight-tested" by U.S. astronauts and Russian cosmonauts?
a.) Test Track
b.) Mission: SPACE
c.) Space Mountain
d.) Spaceship Earth

I'm going to guess C.:confused3

If I knew they were counting the ones between Epcot and HS :sad2: I always noticed the back of those boats were like Friendship I - Friendship whatever. Oh well! Note to self: Get Lotus Tours photo for you.

Space Mountain.

"In what was the greatest spectacular event Central Florida has seen since the Grand Opening of Walt Disney World, Tomorrowland was dedicated and Space Mountain officially opened in a colorful extravaganza Wednesday afternoon. Just moments after Mickey Mouse took a bow and said, 'Ladies and Gentlemen, we proudly present... Space Mountain,' hundreds of red, white and blue fireworks exploded in the sky over Tomorrowland with 50,000 balloons soaring upwards to the tune of a 2,000 piece marching band..."

Robert Sarnoff, Chairman of the Board of RCA, and Donn Tatum, Chairman of the Board of Walt Disney Productions, unveiled the dedication plaque for Space Mountain. Along with the official opening of Space Mountain was the official opening of the Carousel of Progress and the Star Jets.

Space Mountain was the first computer-controlled thrill ride. In addition, the side-by-side tracks had one of the first computer-aided designs. Space Mountain actually originated in the early 1960s when Walt Disney conceived the idea of a high-speed thrill attraction based on the excitement of the Space Age.

Did you know that Space Mountain is more than 180 feet high, 300 feet in diameter and took more than two years to build? RCA was the first official sponsor of Space Mountain from 1975 until 1993, at which time Federal Express became the official sponsor. During the 2.5-minute ride your space rocket travels up to 28 miles per hour!

114 days until Disney. Two pirate skeletons are playing what game in Pirates of the Caribbean?
a.) Checkers
b.) Chess
c.) Poker
d.) Golf

Yesterday's:

a.) Test Track
b.) Mission: SPACE
c.) Space Mountain
d.) Spaceship Earth
Tammie, I thought B too! The answer is C. In the early 1970s, representatives of NASA and the Soviet Academy of Sciences met to discuss the possiblity of a joint space venture and agreed on an Appolo-Soyuz joint mission. After U.S. astronauts visited Moscow, Soviet cosmonauts visited the Johnson Space Center in Florida. During their stay, the two groups of explorers visited the Magic Kingdom and gave its newest attraction, Space Mountain, a "test flight."

I am going to award Ashley 5 points for all the details because I'm too lazy today to add them up. :lmao:

Point tally:
Ashley - 14
Amy - 4
Ann - 21
Tammie - 26
tankgirl - 7

How did I go from 6 points to 1 point?:confused3

Today's answer is B for me!

In the least detailed added detail, I was reading the Hidden Magic book which said that the game was in honor of some guy who helped develop something. Yeah I retained a lot of that knowledge!:rotfl:
