A MAGICAL Columbus Day Cruise Texas style 10/6/2012

:worried:and 2 weeks before we leave for our Cruise DH informs me he is unable to find his suit.....looks like I will be turning my house upsidedown this weekend......can someone seen some good vibes my way? I am a bit stressed at this point...:worried:

Keisha,

Did you ever get my PM's? Check your folder for them if you were not emailed by disboards.:confused3

Liz

That is strange.... I never got a PM from you. Just the postings on the board wall. We are counting down the days and soooo excited to board this ship!!!

I want/need to know last initials for families in group B. Please reply here or PM me. If you have adults with 2 last names in the same cabin just let me know both. If you just really don't want to share that, it's ok, I can adapt my plan. Personalized is just always cool to me. :-) Thanks!

mine and hubby are G, Hailey is M and Kyra is C.

Thanks:)

so excited to see gifts! i had to pay $25 each way for another suitcase just to bring my stuff! lol

How many of you plan on dressing up for Pirate night? I was wondering if families dress up for this like they do for MNSSHP (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party) at WDW? A boat load of pirates would be hilarious.

Both of my boys will be dressing up. My wife and I plan to as well if we can find the time to get our costumes before the cruise. Ugh. Only 17 days left.

My cousin is also sailing with her daughter. Both will dress for it.

Andre and Alyssa are dressing up and the rest of us are wearing pirate shirts.

The Magic is somewhere off the coast of Florida on it's way to Galveston right now. Things are starting to feel more and more real.

Where is the like button when you need it? I need more time to get ready for the cruise! I can't wait until the 6th! ::yes::

We are. My husband and I were pirates last Halloween so I just to get my daughter an outfit. My parents will probably just wear a pirate shirt and jeans

So my kids age 2 1/2 and 4 1/2 don't know we are going on this cruise yet. We all watched the Disney cruise DVD back in April so they know what it is kind of and they know they want to go so they would ask about twice a month for a while "when can we go on our Disney cruise???" We only signed up about a month ago to do it so I haven't said anything and they haven't been asking anymore. Anyway...I want to surprise them on the day that we are going and am looking for some ideas. Let them see the boat? Tell them on the way there? We only live about an hour from Galveston so it wouldn't be weird for me to tell them we are going down to the beach. Anyone else leaving it a surprise?

You can schedule a character call or get a big box and fill it with helium balloons tied to a message from 'Mickey' or who ever their favorite character is inviting them to join them on the ship.

You could start now by making a countdown calendar without any of the details, only the numbers. Since they are so young, you could simply write the numbers on separate pieces of paper stacked ( 18, 17, 16, etc.) The last page could have a big photo of the cruise ship. You could easily print each day in a different font. Then staple the together top of the pages, like a tablet. They could tear off each day the following morning so that the big reveal is on your travel day. The page on the last day could give them instructions to go hurry and pack their favorite book, bear, etc. because they leave in one hour to drive to the Disney cruise ship. Have their little bags ready for them to stuff for the car ride.:)

Our kids are 4 and 6. We are leaving it a surprise, although I'm really surprised they haven't figured SOMETHING out at this point. I've been working on my FE stuff right in front of them and when they ask if it's for them I just say, "No, it's for a grown up party." We are driving to College Station the day before to visit family and make the Saturday AM drive shorter, so they'll be in "trip mode" a little bit with just that explanation. I posted on here awhile back looking for surprise ideas but I just haven't found the right one for my kids. As of right now, the plan is to drive by the port, point out the Magic and tell them "Let's go!"... I'd still like to come up with something more, but I haven't thought of it. (I like the previous suggestion about balloons, though... I could probably do something like that since we are staying with family the night before). I'm a little bit worried that they might freak out with TOO much surprise, so maybe the couple hour drive from College Station to the port would allow time for it to sink in. I've had like 2 years for it to sink in. ;)

Have you seen the "surprise kids we're going to Disney!" video on YouTube ? The mom tells them she has a secret and to go in the bathroom and put on their Disney shirts because "we're going to Disney baby!" the little boy cries because he apparently was told he was going to someone named Dicks house. It's pretty funny. Disney surprise gone bad!
