After 3 years I am going back to Orlando !

My boyfriend has just found out he had 3 months off from January to April so we have decided to go on holiday and as I have been so nice as to leave Mallorca and to move to Sharm el Sheikh for him he has said that we should go to Orlando !

Ok, so I need to plan. Here is the plan, we want to go early febuary 2004, spend 2 weeks in Orlando - staying somewhere on I drive. Then we want to fly to somewhere in California, havnt decided where yet and spend a month travelling round, Dave wants San Diego (guitars or something!) we both want LA (maybe including disney and universal!), then we need to fly home !

That is all we know so far and we are very flexible in what we do after Orlando, we have thought about driving up the east coast or something like that. All we know is that we want a bit of an adventure and a slightly different holiday. Budget - 10 - 12k all in.

So, this is what I need advice on....

1. Flights, whos cheapest? We want to fly direct to Florida but would take Miami or anywhere else as we would just build it into our trip.

2. Car hire, is it cheaper to get a flydrive or to sort out car hire completly sepratly?

3. Hotel - we stayed in Holiday Inn I drive last time but dont want to stay there again for 2 reasons, I stayed there with my last boyfriend and it might be weird and also my brother has stayed here 5 years in a row but said it had gone right down hill this year. But we do want to stay on I drive and we dont mind it not being the best hotel if its a good price.

4. Whats the weather like at this time of year? We dont mind it being hot as we have lived in Mallorca all summer and sharm for the first half of winter but we dont want it to be cold either, not so bad in the evening but its needs to be ok in the day.

5. Tickets, think it will be the 5 day hopper. then we need universal, do they still do the 14 day ticket for us, ioa, seaworld?

Ok so thats the first part of the trip !

2nd part,

2. we need internal flights but I dont really know where to start when its comes to them !! So advice please :D

3. Where would you go? We are very open to new ideas, we dont really know what we want to do so if someone suggested something completly new we would look into it !

OK, thinks thats it at the moment. Cant believe he has thrown this on me whilst I am in Egypt ! I dont have my books ! Argh ! Hes quite pleased I have a project as I am quite bored out here without a job (I shouldnt grumble!) so this will give me something to do !

Thanks

Sally :D

Try www.bon-voyage.co.uk
They are very good at mixing flights at a good price. Their car hire and accommodation prices aren't bad either. Ask for an online quote. They usually get back to you same day.

Try United Vacations 0870 606 2222 they'll be able to do Orlando/San Diego/ and LA for you. Sounds like you'll have a ball

Hiya Sally :)

Check out the scheduled airlines that fly to California - if you choose an airline that flies to LA or SF, you can pay just for return the flight to California with Orlando as a stop off. (We did this with Air Canada - stayed a while in Toronto then flew to Vancouver).

Earliest I've been is early March and there have been times where it really cools down in the evening and is cold early morning and then it's warm and lovely by day.

The trip you are planning sounds fantastic!

After Orlando my vote would be to fly to LA (do Hollywood, Disneyland, Universal. etc) then drtive up to San Francisco along Highway 1. San Francisco is a wonderful city, and Hwy 1 is breathtaking.

Regards

Rob

OK, thanks for the help so far guys - its helped to put some real direct in my trip.

OK, so here is the rough idea of what we are going to do. What do u think?

3 days New York - Need cheap accom, and I mean really cheap. Anyone got a good idea for decent, safe, clean accom?

11 days Orlando, including Disney, USF, SW and KSC

LA, 1 day then drive to San fran, vegas (stopping somewhere for the night inbetween!) then Gran Canyon/ Death Valley. 1 day??
San Diego which is a must for the other half who is going to buy a new guitar !! Then back to La for the last 4 days or so.

we have decided to cut back to just over 1 month due to spiralling costs.

So how does this sound?

Sally
