Is it just me or does there seems to be a rash of new members that like to start very controversial threads.

Could it be the same person?:confused3

Regardless if it's the same person or not, there are just a lot of different issues in the world right now and I think everyone has their own opinion :surfweb:on them and they like to make them known.

I'm thinking Troll and we are being played, but oh well it is interesting to see everyones thoughts.

The word "troll" has popped into my head a few times reading these new member threads....

I've been thinking the same thing. It appears someone has an awful lot of time on their hands....

:thumbsup2 You got it! I think we absolutely have a troll - absolutely posting under different names, getting a rise out of some of us and sitting back for a big fat laugh over it! I'm laughing too, but I'm sure not fooled ;)

Seriously? You think "troll" before thinking of Dis-er's reknown abilities to solve problems large & small with expertise, caring, and compassion???;););)

What cracks me up is when folks start alluding to the possibility that the OP is a troll, and others jump to the defense of ....the troll. Then fights break out between those groups. And the troll is just sitting back in their chair watching and laughing.

I got slapped on the wrist once for hinting that two trolls were in cahoots. I guess it was the way I said it.:confused3

Truth be known, I enjoy a good troll thread now and then.

Well, you can Google these threads. So, doing a Google Search, many people must have found the DIS to be the "Dear Abby" board to help solve life's most difficult problems. ;) ;) ;)

Isn't that the definition of what being a troll is about?

I almost never think Troll, unless someone is obviously baiting people with topics which obviously provoke strong responses and have a good chance of getting people points ect.

The idea that people think it's funny to get sympathy for pretend problems just boggles my mind. What on earth can they get out of it? i don't even see why it would be funny. In all seriousness, what do you think is wrong with people like this? Depression? :confused3

No, I don't think it's depression. IMO, it's just for the kicks of it - like prank phone calls or some computer hackers. They get a kick out of the flurry of activity that goes on - and the fact that they caused it.

But seriously, how does someone get a kick out of it? Don't get me wrong, I laugh at almost anything from bad jokes to when people get hurt (not too hurt) doing dumb stuff BUT this seems... well, it seems disturbed. Sort of like a Munchausen by Proxy but, thankfully, without the real world victim. KWIM?

many people on here have their own opinion of me, but i was on the boards for quite some time before i started posting stuff that people felt objectionable to.

I can not imagine going to a new board and throwing my life out there like every one was my friend. Or having extreme conservative points of view on a very open and friendly forum.

Life's a struggle for every one... But this site is about disney nuts... Which should mean happy topics.

It's more sociopathic. Some people simply have little to no regard, empathy or compassion for other people's feelings. So they will pray on and use people like you, who don't immediately think "Troll" at first, because you are wonderfully empathetic & supportive, to draw into their private, cruel jokes for a kick. It gives them perverse power & pleasure to see how many people they cam draw into their little Troll traps.

The very fact that you don't understand how & why they would do what they do, and can't relate, are precisely the people they hope to snare. They are kind of like those people who go up to little kids with a sob story and say, "Can you please help me find my puppy?" :sad1: hoping to lure kind, compassionate, sensitive kids away. These people USE unsuspecting kindness & compassion for their own kicks.

There are also other discussion boards that have a thing against the Dis, so they send out a troll every once in a while and then they all sit back and watch together.;)

I kind of like troll hunting.

yeah... hunting is fun, until you get accused of being a horrible person for merely suggesting the fact that the poster is an obvious troll....:rolleyes1

There should be a sticky on the boards about how the average forum reader can identify a clearly obvious troll.
