14th July - Bastille Day

Was determined to wake up early, but despite a 7.45am breakfast ticket no one was ready to move until almost 9am. Had breakfast in the hotels Beaver Creek Tavern. Although slightly more civilised than at Cheyenne it was still mayhem. We were seated, which was much preferable to a scrum for a table. However, they seem to have done away with trays and getting breakfast for 4 people meant about 20 trips up and down balancing cups and plates. The buffet seemed be be constantly running out of cutlery, butter and clean plates and all in all it was unenjoyable. A quick coffee and bread roll and I was outta there! I went to reception and managed to get a Fantasyland breakfast for Thursday rather than face that again.

We made it to the park just before the end of Extra Magic Hours. A beautiful sunny day and the castle looked beautiful.

My self and DD made our way into Fantasyland to wait for Peter Pan Fastpasses, while Hubby and Ds made their way over for BTM rope drop.

Having managed to get fastpasses, DD and I rode Dumbo as there was only a 10 min wait. By this time, hubby and DS had returned from BTM and we all headed over for our 10.35am Peter Pan fastpass. DD loves this ride, but my eyes never adjust to the light and I can't see much!

We strolled over to Casey Jr but found it closed until Friday, so rode Teacups (5 mins) and IASW (walk in). Hubby went to get fastpasses for Buzz while the rest of us went on Carousel. Again, this was a 5 minute wait and I just could not believe our luck. I suppose by this stage, the park was still only filling up.

With 45 mins to spare till Buzz, DD and I queued up at Princess stage. Last time, we spent a fortune on Auberge but because she is now older I said we would queue twice to meet the princesses. It was a pleasant enough 30 min wait and by the time we got to the front, it was Belle (my daughters original fave). My DD was flabbergasted when Belle remembered her name and where she was from. They spent a good few moments chatting and Belle was really lovely to my DD, listening to her account of playing a villager in a production of Beauty and the Beast.

In the mean time, the boys had bumped into Goofy off the Toon Train. My husband said it was crazy and vowed we would avoid that for the rest of trip, although he did say that Goofy had great time for my son.

Now it was time for Buzz and we all rode it, with my hubby and I both getting over 190,000 ( alright, he pipped me by 5,000). The park was really filling up now with Bastille Day visitors piling in. We agreed that now would be a good time for a sit down and Goofys Summer Camp Show. On the way through Adventureland, POTC was a walk on, so naturally we did that first!.

Goofys Summer Camp wasn't a patch on the Christmas or Tarzan Shows. It was bi-lingual, but Goofy and Chip and Dale only spoke French and the translation was a little difficult to understand. Again, it relies on audience dance participation, so went down like a lead baloon. Still, it was cool in the shade and a welcome rest.

Upon leaving the Chaparal Theatre, I had timed it so that Woodys Round Up would be starting. After an initial frustrating situation in teh queue outside when 15 adults tried to push their way to the top (???????), we were in and it was very well organised. The kids got to meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Jesie within minutes and all characters were really friendly. The helpful CM gave us a heads up to linger before exiting as she knew Woody was on his way out. And true to her word, he arrived. My son was thrilled as Woody is one that has alluded him since he was too young to remember the meeting.

It was now lunchtime, so after a 10 min wait at Frontierland station, we hopped on teh train to Discoveryland to see if sons favourite Pizza Planet was open. Having met Jessie and Woody, he was in full Toy Story mode so I couldn't refuse This is a restaurant they could do so much more with and it has great potential. The play area was open for the first time in our experience and so the kids ran to it. We like this place as the food is self serve and the menu varies slightly from the normal counter service places. It is never busy and we had our food in record time. Hubby and DS both love the pizza burgers here...gross!! The kids had a good play and it helped wind them down a bit,

Coming out of Pizza Planet, it was just time for Stitchs Dance Party just next to Space Mountain. Both DS and DD took spots, but Ds became too embarrassed to do the dance. DD loved it and got high 5's from the dancers at the end. I thought it very amusing and entertaining overall.

By now the temperatures were in high twenties, so we decided to retreat to hotel to get ready fr this evenings BBWWS.
