A long walk back to Dublin (COMPLETED)

This sounds great but I have to ask - are you actually walking around the world or walking locally and tracking how far that distance would take you? A walk around the globe would be fantastic if safety wasn't a concern. I'm really hoping you aren't physically walking through Iran. Either way, the distance you are covering is incredible.

No, walking around my neighbourhood (and some in Italy when we were on holidays). And it's not based on distance really. I take the distance in miles and walk that many minutes. I expect it to be about 1,200 miles when I'm done, currently at 1,099. The 'distance' I had worked out to be 18,163 miles, which would take 12 1/2 years at 4 miles per day every day. I use the map to keep me encouraged and 'show' my progress. Same idea as posting here really. Last time I walked from Dublin to Disney. Haven't decided on the next one yet. It's likely to be either all the US state capitals or all the capitals in Africa.

Still a great idea. I really need to start walking and this might just be the incentive I need. I have a long list of places that I would love to visit but I know that time, budget and physical abilities may make a lot of the list a challenge. Thanks for the great idea!

You're welcome

The key, I think, is to keep the distances between the way points manageable. When I did the first from Dublin to Disney, and on this one, the hardest parts were the 'ocean crossings'. Took ages (50 days stretch for the longest). Now there's only a few days between each one so really feels that I'm making progress.
