A Little Question about Washing Dishes

So, being a tent camper, I'm wondering where I will wash my dishes. In the national/state parks we've been to there is usually an area of some kind at the comfort stations that has running water and a basin of some kind. Is there anything like that at FW? I know I could use a plastic container and the water on my site to wash dishes, but where do I dump the water? Just by the campsite? (I know that in that case I would definitely use biodegradable soap).

TIA!

I did a poll recently and most people dumped theirs in the toilet. You shouldn't dump it at the campsite. The sewage would be smelly and attract critters you don't want...especially flies. Plus, the camper behind you may not be a happy camper if you did.

I have seen someone wash theirs in the basin in the laundry room.

Here's the poll: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1482494

There is a laundry sink in the laundry room between the bathrooms at the comfort stations. You could take your plastic tub there and do the dishes.

Thanks for the replies. I am glad hat it's not common practice to dump the water out at the campsite. I figured this would attract critters and make the next camper unhappy (and it would just be hard on the land getting flooded like that I would think, if it happens over and over).

Tent Camping Mom, I did see that poll, but wasn't sure that it applied to my situation because I had never heard of "gray water" (though I remember looking up what it was) and it seemed to be a term directly related to trailers, campers, RVs, etc. But evidently not. :)

Thanks to both of you! Another Disney Crises averted. ;)

"Grey Water" is any used water from washing dishes, showering, washing your hands, etc. vs. "Black Water" which is human toilet waste.

If you stay on a full hook up or perferred site there is a drain on your site where you can dump the water, but if you are in a partial hook up you should use the basin in the laundry room or flush it.

I'm a tent camper too. I've used the drain on our site (first time we were given a free upgrade, 2nd time we were with friends who had an RV) to dump our water.

The laundry tub is a single large tub, and isn't really easy to use for dishwashing. You should definitely take your plastic tub down with you. There are folding tables nearby, but no counter right by the sink.

Honestly, dishwashing stations would be the only improvement I would like to see made to Ft. Wilderness. But most people seem to be RV campers, so it doesn't affect them.
