A little OT - Just Dance 2 for Wii

Maybe not OT because I need to know If I HAVE to buy a dance pad thingy for the Just Dance 2. On the box it says needs a controller only. But my DH and a friend says we have to buy a pad thing too. Those of you that have this game, please tell me true. This is from Santa.
