My DD and her DBF were in FL visting his family when they decided to spend the last few days of their trip at WDW!!!
so they called and got 2 nites at the CBR (our family"s favorite).

So they get checked in and a few hours later (they had gone to one of the parks) they found mold near the air conditioner!!!!! if that wasn't bad enough (now heres the gross part) there were mushrooms growing!!!!!! yicccccccckkkkkkkk

so they called and got there room changed fine well later on they started talking to a manager who heard what had happened soooo(now the happy part) she upgraded them to a water view the first nite free and 50% off the second nite!!!

boy are they happy!!

they are really living it up now!!!

the manger said she felt so embarressed!!

they really went all out to make it magical for my DD and her DBF (who was only at WDW once as a kid and never stayed on property) hes hooked!!!

How does the room get to the point that there is mushrooms growing and know one else reports it ? We had a problem a few yrs ago at the Wilderness homes, they used to have shower doors and when we checked in I went to the bathroom and there was black mildew all over, I called the front desk and they sent someone right over. They didn't clean them, they replaced them with new ones! For the most part we have never had any other problems with Disneys accomodations I guess sometimes its to be expected with the number of rooms disney has. Glad everything turned out well for your daughter.

Well, to be fair, some kinds of mushrooms can grow *really* fast... haven't you ever seen them pop up practically overnight in a grassy field after it rains a lot?

GROSS! Sounds like that room must not have been used for a while, surely someone would have cleaned or complained!

It's been raining in Maine for weeks and the humidity has been awful. Mushrooms are literally popping up over night on the lawn, in the garden, and in my potted plants. We've been joking about them next sprouting in the house!

It's unfortunate that the mildew problem was ignored so long that this actually happened at the CBR. Glad everything worked out for your dau and her BF and that they had a memorable trip! :)

Okay before everybody starts getting grossed out and knocking Disney. I am a cleaning fanatic. I have to have everything spotless all the time. I live in a raised house and I have 2 little boys who used to splash a whole lot in the bathtub. One morning I walked in the bathroom and there was a mushroom growing up from the floor by the tub. I promise it wasn't there the night before when I mopped.

Now whenever the boys take a bath we warn them that they will be in trouble if there are any mushrooms growing out of the floor in the morning.

I think they will spring up anywhere that there is moisture.

When life gives you mushrooms....

make either soup or salad!

When I was setting up some things in order to make it possible to move into a new apartment a few years ago, literally overnight, there were some small mushrooms that appeared in the carpet along the wall of the bathroom. They were brown and looked like small ears. It turned out that the day before we had run water to mop the floors with from the shower in the bathroom. The shower had a leak in the caulk that allowed the water to seep out under the tub and out into the carpet. The wood at the edge of the carpet was the home of the mold that grew the fungi.

Luckily, once the leak was fixed, no more mushrooms. Mickey

Yikes! I have NEVER heard of mushrooms growing INSIDE before, but I guess it really isn't that rare!

I'm glad that the CBR made it right, though. :)

Wow, watchout for mushrooms growing in bathrooms!

hay day on this thread!!!So glad Disney made it up to you. They could have just moved you to another room. But an upgrade and a free night? Wow. Kudos to the manager.

We got those little ears mushrooms once too - gross - cut out the carpet with a Ginsu Knife :) and threw it all out - it was just too wet to try and keep

DW was warned to stay away!!!

Thanks
