My friend and I had a girls trip and worked with an agent. We put in our requests but in a matter of a day, they didn't have the Polynesian anymore which we had both had our heart set on! We are going the first week of December and now we are booked for Grand Floridian. It's just the two of us (college friends)! I'm traveling without my kids and husband, so doing more of an adult trip. I keep telling myself it will be better to come back and do Polynesian with my baby and toddler sons. Anyone have any good things to say about Grand Floridian?

*Would you keep trying for a transfer at the Poly? We prob won't use the pools much! maybe the hot tub?

DW and I our not big fans of POLY and our family did not think we would like staying at GF . When we did finally get to stay at GF we loved it:)

I would go for GF for a girl's trip over the Poly any day! Rooms are big and bright. Poly is only a walk away if you need to go get a Lapu Lapu. Pool at the Grand is quieter. Last year I had a girl's trip with a friend at GF and we had a fantastic time. Bring you kids to the Poly next time, but you will not be disappointed with the GF!

We LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the GF!!! The Christmas decorations are beautiful. The rooms are airy and bright. The dining and shops are amazing. You will have a great time!

Both of those resorts are my fave, I think youll enjoy Gf too, its beautiful, classy, has beautiful views, on the monorail line, love the shops and restaurants, its next door to MK

Grand Floridian is my favorite. One quick stop on the monorail to Magic Kingdom, first stop on the boat ride back. Live music in the gorgeous lobby. Afternoon tea in the garden view tea room at the end of the lobby. Beautiful shops. Gorgeous flowers and landscaping. I love it so much. Enjoy!

You have several lovely restaurants to choose from right at the GF. Plus there is a spa there where you and your friend can book spa treatments.

GF - brighter, more recently renovated rooms, no chance of a bad view, quieter, more restaurants, live band!

Poly - dark, rooms in need of a refurb, crowded, much louder, fewer restaurant options

I would pick GF over Poly any day. Plus you can walk there from GF and go to the lounges, walk on the beach, etc.

I think you will love the GF, especially during Christmastime! It will be perfect timing since the gingerbread house will be up and all the Christmas decor will be in full effect. Yay!

I went through the same thing. Polynesian was my one and only. Then it was sold out. I stayed at the grand. Fell in love!. its a place where when you visit you won't really care to stay like how Polynesian makes you want to when you visit, but when you stay there the magic will hit you. I love it as much now. Also don't forget you can walk over to the poly to enjoy it all still. But now you will have a brighter, better decoded room :)

Don’t be sad! Poly and gf are both absolutely great. Both beautiful and relaxing. Both have great dining options, easy access to mk and Epcot. Seriously, no worries!

My cousin and I stayed at the gf (villas) for Princess and it was awesome. And it was close to the poly to head over for Trader Sams and to happen upon seeing the fireworks.

I can’t imagine that you’ll be disappointed once you’re there.

My kids love the poly, but I find the rooms so dark and kinda loud. My favourite is the Contemporary. Our happy medium for the two teens, my husband and me is the Grand Floridian. Everyone likes/loves it there. It's bright and happy. The CMs are kind and a bit more on the ball. At first I felt that we would feel out of place. I do not feel that way at all. They have amazing services if you want to pamper yourself. Also, being that you are going at Christmas, Grand Floridian takes decorating to a level I have never seen. It is so very special.

I hope you have a wonderful time.

I love everything about the GF more than Poly (which is too busy in my opinion). The only thing I like more about Poly is you can walk to TTC. The rooms are so lovely and the food is great and the pool is better.

Love, love, love the GF. By far my favorite resort! Love everything about it! The Poly is loved by many but is not one of my favorites. I find the decor to be dark and kind of outdated. I am not a fan of the theme of the resort. GF is beautiful and feels very relaxing to me. You will have a great time. Enjoy!!

I agree with others, while we enjoyed our stay at Poly, I found the main pool to be too small for a resort of this size, which resulted in overcrowding.

I would keep the GF, I always loved "coming home" after the parks and hearing the live band. The turndown service, the grounds were beautiful.

I remember being 7 years old in my first trip to Disney. We stayed off site but visited the Polynesian and I remember thinking how awesome it was that people got to stay "at Disney". It became an obsession to stay there.

Fast forward many years, and we finally stayed at the Poly last summer (and we have stayed at all of the other resorts, minus BWI and CSR) and while it was nice, it was not what I think I had hyped it in my mind to be.

That being said, 2 years ago, we stayed at the GF and I was NOT excited about that. It didn't seem like our type of resort, but as we were on a quest to stay at all of the resorts, we wanted to scratch it off the list. Well, we absolutely LOVED everything about it. It is now our favorite resort. We have 9 night GF stay coming up this summer and I am beyond excited.

I know it sucks not getting the resort you want, but believe me, the GF is a great resort. :cloud9:

The GF is a beautiful resort! The Poly is my favorite overall, but the GF runs a very close second and is a great alternative to the Poly. The grounds are beautiful, the pools are nice, and there are plenty of great dining options. If you really want the Poly, it doesn't hurt to keep checking back for availability, but the GF really is a wonderful resort and is worth a try, IMO. Enjoy the rest of your planning :wizard:.

For a girls trip I think GF will be perfect! I love staying at the GF and my husband loves staying at the Poly. The best part about staying at either is that you can walk very easily between the two (only one stop back on the monorail from the Poly). At the end of the day the only amenity you won't be able to use at the Poly is the pool, which you said you may not use much anyways. I think you will be surprised at how much you enjoy the ambiance and calmness of the GF for a girls trip! Keep trying if that is what you two have your hearts set on, but I really do think you'll enjoy the GF just as much if not more than the Polynesian!
