I generally stay on the Mousecellaneous board but I do wonder from time to time. I was on one of the other DVc forums and people were asking questions about Dvc if it would be right for them. They always seem to get replies from some Really ANTI DVC people. Why would people like that hangout on a Dvc Board. They really seem to get some joy out of jabbing Dvc ownership.

The question is whether it's anti DVC or being honest. For example, DVC is a horrible choice for exchange options of all types for one looking to buy in. Saying so and offering other alternatives is not being anti DVC. Likewise one looking to buy for long weekends would not be making a good choice and it would be appropriate to say so, IMO. But then again I've been accused of the same thing you're saying from time to time from those that drink the koolade.

DVC is not your typical timeshare, with it’s differences it is important for prospective members to understand what is good and what is bad about DVC for present members so they can see if it applies to their individual situation.

When I was deciding whether to buy in part of what made me comfortable was that I could see how other members negatives would affect me. If it had been mostly positive I would have been very suspect.

Without a thoughtful critique, there is little chance of improving anything.

Not sure what you mean by other DVC forums........but I don't see too much bashing. There are negatives to DVC and it is good for people to know these items as well as the good so an educated decesion can be made. DVC is not cheap and is not for everyone. Some people do go over board trying to make their point both good and bad.

I know that I am not anti-DVC but I am a realist.

DVD does a very good job making DVC out to be the best thing since Walt.

In reality it's not all true and I think that discussing only the positives on the boards is a disservice to others who are trying to learn the pros and cons of the DVC.

Yes DVD is in the job of selling, but as I have said before, I wish that they would spend more of their energy taking care of the existing resorts and the DVC members.

Could you explain what you mean by anti-DVC? I really can't say that I've seen DVC-bashing here, and I've been reading these boards for several years.

Are you referring to the fact that we sometimes tell prospective buyers that DVC would not be a good fit for them? That's not being anti-DVC, that's being helpful. DVC is a great thing for me, but I use it at the DVC resorts and I can plan well in advance. People who can only make short-notice reservations are likely to find DVC a frustrating experience. People who want to use DVC primarily to trade to other timeshares are not going to get the value or the resort choices they would in another timeshare. People who like staying at values and think that DVC will be cheaper are going to be very disappointed.

None of the above statements are anti-DVC. They're reality, from those of us who have been members for a long time and know how DVC works.

This is not like choosing a restaurant or a resort for a week-long vacation. DVC is a BIG investment, and a big decision. When I'm deciding whether to spend upwards of $16K, I don't want happy stories and sunshine and butterflies. I want to know the ins and outs, and whether I'm likely to get my money's worth.
