a leak from garbage disposal

I see where its coming from - looks like the screws - not positive -

BUT my question is - how on earth do I get rid of the smell under there? The wood got wet (it had been leaking a while - until we finally smelled something) & now it smell horrid.

The wood doesn't look or feel rotted - it has dried - but still the smell hasn't gone away.....

Have you tried spraying it out with bleach? There could be some moisture underneath the cabinet if this doesn't work.

I had this on and off for a while (leaking). My DS ripped out the bottom of the cabinet, then cleaned up underneath and sprayed something to kill mold that might be there or might want to grow! ANd he but down a new bottom. We then covered it with heavy duty stick on floor tiles! It now looks really nice under my sink!

It's not an easy job, but he had the tools to do it.

OMG I want to know this too because the exact thing happened to me!
I have been afraid to go under there to even clean and it got all over my supplies I had under there and had to throw some things away.
I just don't use the disposal or the sink cabinet until I decide to get the disposal fixed.

I just used Clorox cLeanup to spray under there.

Soooo is there a way to tell if the wood is damaged without tearing it out? Cause it doesn't look damaged & I don't feel any soft spots....

so I can't tell if the smell is really something under the wood or if its just a smell I've got to get rid of
