A June 2011 PTR! (5/31 Top 5 things to do while waiting for Disney!!!)

Your top 5 snacks look very yummy! There's nothing like eating a Mickey ice cream bar on a hot summer day....

You'll have to tell me how the bread pudding is; I've heard a lot of things about it as well, but I've never tried it before. It sure looks delicious, though.

Wow on compiling a top 5 snack list!! I don't think I could do it with all the great ones at Disney World! Am looking forward to trying them all especially the sundaes and everything at the Caramel shop in Epcot :lovestruc

I know! There are so many good snacks at disney!!! I didn't even mention popcorn or basically everything at Main Street Bakery :rotfl:

Yes! You can't beat a Mickey bar. And I will definitely let you know about the bread pudding. This trip is all about desserts for me :rotfl:

Two updates in one day! That must mean that I have a lot of school work to do :lmao:

I've been spending way to much time on the Disney Restaurants board looking and the Cake Chatter thread. They all look so good, and everyone says the taste just as good as they look. So what did I do? I decided to order one! :rotfl:

The Wishes Dessert Party was supposed to be a surprise for DBF but with my frustration with reserving it I just told him. :sad2: But I have a chance to redeem myself. I figured that on our first night at dinner at Yachtsman I could surprise him with a disney cake. Nothing huge and extraordinary, I just want it to be a welcome to Disney kind of thing. I was looking at these two cakes from the cake thread.

The "mini wedding cake"

and the "Cinderella Castle Cake"

They are both very small. I didn't want anything too big. But I don't know which one I want to get yet. I have e-mailed they lady at yachtsman to ask about flavors and pricing. So hopefully I will hear back from her tomorrow!

Yay, another update!!

I have been looking at the dining boards as well and all the food does look yummy! popcorn::

Good luck with ordering the cake surprise for DBF! Are them cakes available at every restaurant? I was under the impression only select restaurants could offer them. I could be wrong :rolleyes1

The Disney Website says that they are available at most table service restaurants. And the cake chatter thread says this . . .

"To order a fancy cake, you need to call Private Dining at the Grand Floridian, The Contemporary, BoardWalk Inn, Animal Kingdom Lodge or Yacht and Beach Club. If you want the cake delivered to a restaurant, you will need to have an ADR at a restaurant within the resort whose bakery you choose. If you want a cake delivered to your room, you will need to be staying at the resort whose bakery you choose."

But I also know that the Grand Floridian delivers to Cinderella's Royal Table. So I guess you would just have to call and ask. I wish they had an online system for this, it would be so much easier

Thanks for the information...thought I might be wrong!

An online system for booking cakes does sound like a good idea :thumbsup2

How cool! A surprise cake on your first day...it sounds like a really nice surprise for your DBF. Plus, what better way to complete your first arrival dinner than with a cake?! :rotfl:

TOP 5 Disney Tips

5. At buffets request your bill with your drinks so you can leave immediately after.

I just learned this tip from the June 2011 thread :thumbsup2. It seems so simple, but I had never thought of it. Then after your done with your meal, you can leave immediately. This is great especially for breakfast meals when you are trying to get to the park.

4. Try to eat at off times during the day.

counterservice.jpg

This applies to counter service meals for the most part. It seems that everyone in the park likes to eat lunch at the same time, and the counter service restaurants are crazy. If possible, try to have a later lunch, like around 2p or 3pm or even an earlier one if that works better. The lines are considerably shorter.

3. Utilize the Fast Pass system

fastpass.jpg

Of course most people on the DIS know that fast passes are the way to go, but it still amazes me how many dirty looks you get when using a fast pass from the people in the stand by line or comments like, “Why do they get to go ahead?” While it doesn’t eliminate all of the lines on the rides it certainly helps A LOT for those big-ticket rides.

2. Rope Drop

In my opinion, the earlier you get to the park the better, even if you don’t make rope drop exactly. Crowds are always much lighter in the morning because everyone wants to sleep in on their vacation

1. RELAX and have fun!!!

A lot of times, we get so wrapped up in having a perfect vacation that we forget to have fun! So what if everything doesn’t go according to plan; it’s not the end of the world. Just remember to relax and have fun. It’s a Vacation!

Couldn't agree more with your tips!

I remember going to the parks as a kid and, not knowing what fastpasses were, I'd get so upset that everyone was "jumping" us. Now, though FPs are a life-saver!

I think going in June, when it'll be extremely hot, relaxing will be a necessity! You don't want to tire yourself out in the sun.

Can't wait to hear what your top five movies are!

Enjoying your PTR! Look forward to seeing more! Also, I live 20 minutes from Louisville! Just on the other side of the river ;)

I love your list of tips - they sound great, esp the one about relaxing and having fun! :thumbsup2 I think at some point we all think about the amount of effort that has gone into the trip that we forget to actually enjoy the vacation.

Also I can't believe you would get dirty looks on Fast passing a ride - had not heard of that so thanks for letting me know that it may happen :)

I know! fast passes are essential if you want to ride most of the major rides in each park. And it is SO hard to choose my movies. lol There are soooooo many good ones. :goodvibes

I love you "Top 5's", Keep 'em coming!

Thanks! I definitely will. How is your trip planning going? It's not long before June will be here :cool1:

Welcome! Thanks for reading :) "It's a small world after all" :lmao: sorry, I had to) How have you been dealing with the crazy weather that we've been having? I'm starting to get used to the Tornado sirens

Yes for the fast passes, you will occasionally get a few glares from the people in stand-by line as you walk pass them. But its nothing more than that. I guess there are still some people who don't know about the wonders of a fast pass. :confused3

My trip planning is going well. I have 42 days until I'm at Disney for my first time ever :yay::yay::yay:! I'm currently in the process of fine tuning my itinerary and eliminating the ADR's that I won't be using. I plan to only keep 5 of the 26 dining reservations I made :lmao:.

Yep those are great tips! :thumbsup2

Thank You! :goodvibes I learn from the best on the disboards!

:rotfl: I don't think I can fine tune my itinerary anymore. I've gone over it WAY too many times. I hope you get all of your ADRs sorted out. I don't think I would be able to make up my mind!
