A hypothetical situation

The logic with owning at the same location has been mentioned several times to you in your various posts.

You want to first own enough points in said location to ensure that you can secure the type of accomodation at the time of year you want.

For you that is staying in a 1 bedroom at BRV during December and assuming that is not between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day that would mean you need a minimum of 232 points.

Yes even though you are wanting a one bedroom these actually do book up rather quickly for your time period do to the holidays and low point costs.

After you have secured enough points to ensure you can get what the accommodation and view type at the resort you want and during the time frame you want to go then you can diversify your portfolio.

It doesn't make sense to buy CCV, AUL, VGF, SSR or anywhere in my mind until you have the 72 more points at BRV. Yes it can certainly make financial sense to do so and use them as SAP but you can't guarantee that you will be able to book BRV with those points. Perhaps you could if you were going in a lower demand season but for the travel plans you have laid out it is certainly no guarantee.

I am more laughing at not knowing what to buy as you seem to ask about different options repetively.
I have no problems with you not wanting to stay at CCV. If it doesn't work for you that is fine. Many were just suggesting the CCV for SAP because of your love for the lodge and the fact that the length of contract was longer and you could end up selling it in 2042 when you could no longer exchange into BRV. Also the dues are $0.70 less which does add up.

You are welcome.

While I realize you were being sarcastic we seriously are trying to help you.

DVC is a big investment not just in money but in time with all of the planning. We just want you to be comfortable with what you end up doing whether it is buying more SAP or more BRV or just holding out for awhile until you grow more comfortable with this great product that Disney offers.

Yeah I dont think anyone said buy BRV and CCV, it was buy CCV instead of BRV. When she mentioned she can still cancel due to being within the 10 day cancel timeframe. We also thought she wasn't trying to get the cheapest points up front because she began with asking about buying RIV direct. Hard to help when someone is all over the map and gets aggravated when sound advice from people with experience is given.

I’m not aggravated. And yes I’m all over the map, this is confusing to me for some reason. I just didn’t appreciate the snarkiness. I’m not an expert like you and others and I apologize if I’ve annoyed people with the questions

I do think the advice given at the beginning of your first thread was the best advice, wait. We all know how hard it is to wait when entering the DVC world. But waiting since you aren't 100% sure is the best option especially given the resale market right now is currently leaning a sellers market and prices are higher than they probably will be in a few months. You will get more for your money by waiting just a few months. Dues info will be released soon, none of us can predict which resorts will get big increases in dues or which may even see a decrease in dues. That is a big deal when deciding where to buy since dues make up majority of the money spent on a contract. Lastly, when you buy resale now you have pay next years dues to the title company up front which adds alot to your right now price and you cant pay by credit card or gift cards to save money on those dues. There are so many good reasons to wait.

The best advice is to keep asking questions and know that everyone here views it differently in what is important when deciding!

We did not consider resale value in our equation. We didn’t buy the cheapest either.

DVC is just too expensive to buy something not at the top of your list because financially it could be seen as “better”.

We own RIV, both direct and resale, and know that if we decide to ever sell we willl need to sell for less than we bought.

But, we love it and it was worth owning there over others and feel anyting of purchase we get back is a bonus.

The good thing is that you know you have enough BRV to make it work for you so now you can view a second resort with potentially a different lease!!
