A hypothetical situation

Yes tough to get bet that poster is only interested in the better view categories.

Myself personally I have no issues with my standard view watching the monorail going by. :)
This is where the financial value of BLT diminishes based off all my calculations when deciding if I should buy there. The better views categories can get real point heavy real quick and becomes an even worse value than a 2042. But OP isn't buying based off best financial choice.

I see what the chart says, but I’m wondering what your opinions are

Also, is it OK to buy stripped if you don’t need the points right away as I have a trip planned and other points I have to use for 2026?
A lot of people can have prices that are anchored to when they were buying…. and today’s prices can be materially different.

The Fidelity report tends to represent the lower end of the market from a resale broker pricing perspective.

Yes I like the resort but I can easily get a lake view so I can pick up cheap SAP and 7 month there even if takes more points

There are two different configurations: 1 with a full laundry room and no seating at island. The other has w/d in closet but has two stools at island
We had 2 stools in island. Loved that room. It was just husband and I so it felt extra big (pixie dust upgrade from the studio I booked, DVC gods were trying to get me to buy BLT)

I was going to say this, those one bedrooms are point pricy, I didnt do my research on that and i was surprised by it and she likes one bedrooms but I still wouldnt change it cuz thats what I love so she needs to figure that part out for herself we cant tell her what she loves

Well-Ive been told to buy where I want to stay. Are you saying now I should buy what is better financially? In that case, it’s Saratoga springs and we all know it. Lower buy in and one of the cheapest annual fees. Copper creek seems to be the same point wise and fee wise as BLT and I’d rather stay at BLT

You should always buy where you don't mind staying because the only guarantee you have with DVC is booking your home resort at 11 months not any other resort. That is why people say buy where you want to stay. Since this is the internet and nobody knows what other people like we can only answer what is the best resort to buy when looking at the financial aspect of it.

If you look at the numbers SSR is good financial value but not always the best. SSR is not the cheapest annual fees either. I can direct you to this post that has a wealth of information on the best values of DVC https://www.disboards.com/threads/most-economical-resort-beyond-year-1.3950476/

CCV in some view categories is similar point wise to BLT but not all across all room types. Im not sure I or anyone said buy CCV over BLT it was more of a CCV is a better value long term than BRV.

I initially bought SSR to get a foot in the game.

I then bought BLT because of location. The 11-month booking window for Resort View is a big plus.

I would buy AKL for the 11-month booking window for Value or Concierge rooms - but it is so tough to grab those rooms it is just crazy.

Just be careful about people jumping out of rooms over at BLT….

@melissa70

1. Stay before buying
2. CCV is the best long term value
3. We are not you so we dont know what you love and apparently you don't either
4. The takeaway is you need to understand the whole picture

Which is:

How much am I paying for this thing and do I love it enough to pay that much. Screw what everyone else thinks because people have different reasons for buying and not one way is correct.

I know you want us to tell you where to buy. If anyone tells you exactly where to buy because they like it, they dont understand the whole picture and you shouldnt listen to that. Because no one can tell you where to buy right now because like I said you dont even know if you like some of these resorts you are considering.

People give advice based on your situation and what youve said is your preference so we say what we think you MAY like. Thats all anyone can do. You may not like what you think you like as evidenced by some of us staying some places we thought we would love and didnt before making such a large purchase.

We have tried to give you the financial aspect and encouraged you to figure out where you love before buying.

I have nothing else to say.

Thank you.🙏🏻 I appreciate it

Many people say “buy where you want to stay”. Although I totally understand this (particularly if that place is extra hard to book for the size of unit you want and the time of year you want to go), I will say that we have stayed at every single DVC resort (WDW and beyond) multiple times from our SSR point contacts (which cost quite a bit less than other resale contracts). We normally travel in Nov-Dec and April (and Jan, Feb and June for Aulani). It sometimes takes some stalking and use of wait lists (more success through stalking) but it can be done.
