A "How-To" Walk Through of Drinking Around the World at Epcot World Showcase

I am just curious what everyone's #1, very best, favorite drink in the World Showcase would be....

I have to pick one? :confused3

I'm a beer guy through and through, but when it comes to 'only at WDW', the Grey Goose slushes come to mind. They pack a punch and are nicely refreshing in the heat.

Top three would include beers from Canada and the UK.

The wife....frozen margaritas in Mexico, hands down.

My wife and I are doing this in October. The F&W festival REALLY puts a crimp in the plan though, selection overkill!

I would add that for wine lovers, the wine store in Italy does tastings for a fairly reasonable (for Disney) price. The girls working there are pretty knowledgeable as well. BEWARE that you are very likely to walk out with an expensive bottle of wine, and one that your alcohol dulled palate (and brain :)might have selected that your later sober one would not.

For the chillier months, Germany has a kiosk selling Glühwein, which is a sweet spiced red wine served warm (well, hot when they give it to you). Lots of sugar and insanely overpriced at $5 (a BOTTLE usually costs about what they charge for a cup!) but can hit the spot if it is brisk.

I've never seen anyone just falling down drunk at Epcot, but I'm sure it happens. Next time I go I'm REALLY gonna try to explore each pavillion in depth. Thanks for the tip about the tequila bar in Mexico. I usually skip that one, this will change that.

Now just to figure out how to time Morrocco for when the belly dancer is performing. "Why honey, what an AMAZING coincidence!"

LOVED THE GLUHWEIN!! Shared one when we went just after Thanksgiving last year and we walked away with two bottles (btw a word to the wise, unlike what the airline told me you CAN NOT carry these on the plane -- pack them carefully in your luggage! Sadly, I almost had to leave my two bottles at MCO).

It was our first attempt ever drinking at WDW that day. The only other tastes we (okay, I) accomplished were the cantaloupe drink, a grand marnier slushie and a glass of wine from the stand outside of Norway (go figure, it was Californian, hah!). DBF may have had one beer. Definitely lightweights, but we plan on doing some damage at our first F&WF in October!

You know when you are a wdw over-planner when you time the last belly dancer show to end in time with your drinking around world schedule.

Are you kidding? Some folks here plan out the time to walk between rides, snacks, and even potty breaks. Merely knowing the belly dancer schedule and perhaps strolling in that general direction is trivial :P

i printed this out, terrific :thumbsup2

Some people say the don't feel like the've been to Disney without having a Dole Whip - for me it's a Grey Goose Slush!:woohoo:

We've always gauged a groups progress & possiblity of success by the Viking Hats (Norway). Inevitably (sp?) folks end up buying those goofy things after a couple too many adult beverages.

If you start in Mexico & end up in the Viking hat... you ain't gonna make it. :sad2:
If you sarted in Canada & get the hats en route to Mexico you have a good possibility at finishing. :thumbsup2

And then of course there is the next day when you check your digital camera & see all the shots of yourself in that dumb hat. :rotfl:

Excellent post! Didn't read all the replies - has someone raked you over the coals about drinking excessively at Disney yet? :lmao:

Anyway, I'll definitely use your guide to get some drinks here and there. I'm afraid with a 4yo and a 18mo, I probably won't be able to make a crawl out of it.

Good work.

I've done it and have the passport to prove it. We bought the kids EPCOT passport and had someone from each country sign the book. We wrote down what we ordered and the time. I think it took us 4 hours. We have met some of the nicest people drinking around the world. I think at one time we were in competition with one group..I think we finished they didn't!

Hmm..viking hats..I will have to remember that.

One suggestion start early because we tried to start in the evening on time and didn't make it because places started closing on us.

I agree with the other poster, I have to pick ONE???

Best frozen drink - Grey Goose Slushie (France)

Best bubbly drink - Nuvo - it's PINK!!! (France)

Best martini - Ice Wine Martini (Canada - Le Cellier)

Best margarita - Blood Orange Margarita (Mexico - Le Cava)

Best mixed drink - Some fabulous fruity concoction at Akershus (Norway)

Best wine - France wine store - whatever they are tasting :rotfl: OK, I like the wine but prefer alcohol to wine and beer

Best beer - Germany - whatever sip my husband gives me - ditto comment for beer - I like it but prefer my alcoholc drinks better :thumbsup2

ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS....

Might add - there is another pattern that works well - stay at Beach Club or Boardwalk take the boat in - start at France and end at Rose and Crown for some Irish car bombs - then you can stumble out the international gate and on a boat without having to traverse through the front part of the park. This way the dreaded Canada is stuck between the finale of Mexico - oh the tequila bar inside - and the special encore of UK's Rose and Crown..... We have done this too many times - and yes in the tacky shirts with the tacky passports and have actually made it all the way around - although there are some bad photos of too many people stuck in the phone booths at the UK - well anyone plus my 6-9 husband is too many - but it is a good pattern and lets you end in a good bar with good friends - usually some singing and piano playing and I can get my welsh dragon... just a thought

and thanks for this post - we'll be heading out again february 19th- in tacky shirts and carrying tacky passports having the times of our lives.

forogt to add - when running on your treadmill and the kids coming running in to simulate the kids in epcot - you should have them bring a broom and hack you in the ankles to get used to the strollers and ECV's that WILL run into and onto your ankles - even if you are a group of 20 wearing tacky tshirts!!

Thanks for the suggestions - I used MANY of them when we went just before Christmas. I even found a cool passport you can get online at DrinkAroundtheWorldShowcase.com - we used them during our trip, and they were really fun! We met so many people who noticed our passports and started conversations about the excursion. It is amazing how many people do this! You just pay shipping - they even have lanyards. :thumbsup2

Drinking around the world is one of my favorite ways to spend an evening!

DH and I were at WDW without kids when the Kim Possible thing first opened. We went to get our Kimmunicator and the wonderful CM informed us that we could easily turn KP into a drinking game, by getting a cocktail at each location the Kimmunicator told us to go. So we did. When we completed our mission, she gave us another mission for different locales. She kept doing this until we had been through all the possible locations. She would laugh each time we came back and egg us on, pulling up a different mission and suggesting a cocktail to try. I wish I could remember her name, because she really made that a lot of fun for the two of us!

Amazing post. I will definitely heed your suggestions when we try to tackle drinking around the world on our Disneymoon in September

Aww. Looks like I can only do this during F&W since wine is the only alcohol I can be reasonably sure is gluten free and it's not available everywhere.

Is there a drink around the booths? :D Wine from 20+ F&W booths could be... challenging. :D

OK so this is sooooo wrong....BUT how do you keep tween kids entertained during the walk around? (Can they slowly eat around?)

This makes me so excited for the Oct. trip to F & W Festival. :goodvibes

Honestly, one suggestion I heard made was Kim Possible. Send them off to do the mission while you sit back and have a drink. :rotfl:

Thanks for the great information! I'm finally getting back to Disney with my boyfriend this may, and it is our goal to complete the drink around the world! What's worse is we are on a limited time schedule...we won't arrive at Epcot until around 5:30, and have dinner reservations at Tokyo Dining at 8:30! Hopefully you're article will adequately prepare us!
