A House Just Exploded Down the Street From Me

We don't know why yet, but the whole thing is totally gone. It exploded about noon, I felt it shake my house, then I heard the sirens. I walked down there to see what was going on, and the GBI was there, along with the local bomb squad and tons of police and firefighters. One person is confirmed dead, but has not been identified. You can see a pic of the house at www.wtoc.com This is really scaring me, because there are lots of rumors of possible causes floating around, including a meth lab . This house is on a main street right near the elementary school, and tons of kids walk home from school right in front of it. Thank God it didn't happen later in the day.

But the news site lists the address where this house exploded...and you say your right down the street....

A little too much information about your location on an internet BB..., you "could" have said a local house exploded ..... or in our town....

Hope answers can be found soon and no one else is hurt.

This is really scaring me, because there are lots of rumors of possible causes floating around, including a meth lab .

That's been a cause in a number of recent explosions in our neck of the woods.

Now I've heard from a neighbor that these people had propane tanks in their garage, someone was out there "cooking" (?) something and the tanks exploded and basically blew the guy out of the garage.
issa: thanks for your concern, I hadn't thought of that! This is a really large area, hopefully nobody could pinpoint my location. And when I said "right down the street" I mean within walking distance, not literally on my street, if that makes sense!

Wow thats super scary! We have huge problems with Meth labs down here as well.

The police are constantly catching people trying to steal....??? somet type chemical from local farmers.

Around here, when we say someone was "cooking" it means meth, not burgers.
