A "Hopefully" Not So Scary WDW Sibling Reunion - MNSSHP 2011 (Update 9/11 with pics)

I had to join in on the thread, I am Savanah'sMom's DH and also the last adult in the group to join the DIS board although have been a lurker for years. This trip is going to be a cheap trip for us and has been fun to see what discounts we can get where and how. We had a room only pin code, saved us something like $150. We used under cover for the tickets and saved about $100 bucks on ticket prices. We've been saving our reward points which will cover the entire room cost and party tickets with probably about $350 extra to start spending on food. This will make splurging on food, snacks, and souvenirs easy easy.:cool1:
This will be our first drive to Disney as a family (about 12) hours according to GPS so it will be nice to break it up in 2 days with an 8 and 2 yr old. I think it will work well leaving in the afternoon as we are.
Today I looked at a calender which showed all the months in a year on one sheet. Wow, October looks close to todays date when I look at it that way :goodvibes
Have a magical day :)

Well, hello my dear!! Glad to see you've finally succumb to the peer pressure.:banana:

DSis has been after me to get my butt on here and post. I'm just not much of a writer, but I'll really try and come on and add my 2 cents in. We had a blast yesterday trying to get the pictures done, there is even a picture with DB with the pink, princess ears that should have gone up on here :rotfl2:. Its been fun getting together and plan everything out for the upcoming trip. All of the Dkids are super excited, DS2 tells you who's coming! I've been picked up some activity books and coloring (for DS2) to occupy DKids on the rode trip. I just keep thanking God that DB is riding with DSis and not us, there is no way I could stand the smell that comes out of his back-end :scared1::scared1::rotfl::rotfl:

Heeeeyyyy! I'll make sure we bring the spray. :scared1:

Those pictures are so fun to look at! And, you guys are hilarious!!!! :lmao: You're going to have the BEST time on this trip! Please say you'll do a TR?! :flower3:

Dining plans look good - we've always done regular dining, too but, you're right, quick service may be the way to go for you this time, especially during F&W. :thumbsup2

Cmon!!!!!! Really. It's not that bad!!! Everybody does it!!!

Yes, brother....it is THAT bad! Rotten to the core I tell ya!:faint:
Sadly, your godchild has inherited your unique talents. I'll make sure you "guys" hang out in the back where I can open the back windows to fumigate the van. :rotfl:

I'm already plotting a TR. There are so many funny things to do at WDW when you have fun people to do them with!

This is just "stuff" I wanted to talk about. You can skip this if you only want trip info.

Cars 2 - Not a bad movie. VERY action packed which should make all the little boys happy. Not exactly MY type of Disney movie but the kids liked it.

Scrapbooking - ok so I'm a little late and you can call me a procrastinator, but today, I went shopping for a scrapbook and supplies to make a scrapbook for our Christmas 2009 WDW trip. :confused3 I figured I might want to do this one BEFORE I go on my next one. I printed all of our pics from that trip and had them in WDW photoalbums a long time ago, but in addition to those, I wanted a Christmas trip scrapbook, especially since DMIL went with us. I have all my pages planned out tonight and I just need a few more things. I checked out all the Halloween scrapbook stuff today too. I'm thinking we're going to need a very special memory book for this trip as well.:thumbsup2

Gettin' my hair did - Tomorrow I am getting a straightener put in my hair. I consider this Disney planning. ;) I've been getting these done for a few years now. My hair is neither curly nor straight and frizzes in humidity. It doesn't matter if I use the best straight iron in the world, if it is humid outside, my hair will start to curl up. It's so pointless to spend time on my hair if 30 minutes after I leave, its going to look like I didn't do anything at all. Since we will be going to WDW in October, I'm thinking Florida weather will be like Louisiana weather...unpredictable. I just know we are going to encounter heat and humidity which will not provide me with picture ready hair. :lmao: Since this will be the first WDW trip that we are expecting warm weather, we will FINALLY be able to ride Kali River Rapids. :cool1::yay: Again, more reason for the chemical straightener. I can't bring my blow dryer and straight iron with me into the park. Well, I guess I could but really???? The straightener won't be a miracle for my hair but it usually helps a LOT. Yay for one more thing done "for" Disney!:woohoo:

Time is Flyin' - A friend on Facebook posted the other night that we only have 5 months left til Christmas :scared1: I know she's a little early with that but it got me thinking if there's only about 5 months til Christmas.....That means its 3 months til DISNEY!!!!:cool1::yay::woohoo::banana:

I guess that's all I wanted to say tonight. I hope everyone has a good night and a great day tomorrow! :hippie:

Since this is a pre trip report for us I figured I would mention a few things.
Since we are taking a small car, dodge caliber, we test packed last weekend to see if we were going to have problems fitting everything. We will have adequate room :thumbsup2 I was hoping to not have to find alternate places to put things other than the back hatch. I also started watching videos of the halloween party and character meetings with my 2 yr old. I'm hoping he does well with all the things their that can scare an unbrave toddler. He seems to really want to meet Stitch, when I played videos of other characters all he kept asking for is Stitch. I was trying to show him how tall some characters can be to see his reaction. None really. I figured I should also get some good glow sticks for him since it can be really dark in places at the parks at night.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: But not like you

:lmao:

I was not thrilled with Cars 2 either, in fact, I was a bit disappointed. DD was so not interested in it, that she declared it, "for boys," and fell asleep for the rest of the film. DS, however, enjoyed it. Spy stuff (he loves James Bond) and Cars = 2 of his favorite things!

:banana::banana: Woo Hoo! 3 more months! I have 141 days to go.

Sounds like you guys are preparing for everything! :thumbsup2 Gavin will be fun! We just have to give him lots of assurance and not force him into anything he isn't comfortable with. :)

It doesn't seem all that long that I had 141 days. Sometimes I feel like it can't get here quick enough but then I look at all the things I have to do before then like birthday parties, school shopping, etc.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree! We are at 161 and it's going to fly by... ready for it to get here but then couting in all that will need to be accomplished prior to that day... and where does the time go??

Happy Sunday everyone!! I spent the day bringing DD to her 1st sleep away camp. She was so excited and I'm so nervous. Because it's her 1st one, I did the beginers camp which is only 3 days. Hopefully she is & will enjoy herself.

Since it's pretty quiet @ the house, we are just laying around reading/playing on our iphones. DH (Dis nee fan) finally decided on his costume for MNSSHP:

(this is only a test run, he will actually buy the red shorts, not use my jacket!! Kiss shirt might work, maybe a plain black shirt :rotfl2::rotfl2:)

I'm just about killing myself about this, he can be such a dork, but I love him regardless :thumbsup2

So if any of you will be there @ the same time we are and see some wierd looking Mickey wanna-be trying to correct a 2 year old Peter Pan, GRAP YOU CAMERA!!! You might win some money on AFV! :rolleyes1

Yesterday, DS, DB, DBIL and I had an accidental Disney planning/prep talk. Everyone ended up at my house and what to do, what to do???? Talk about Disney. That's what! Really we just talked about what rides we are excited to go on and what rides the kids will be trying for the first time. It was exactly "planning" but fun nonetheless.

Today, I am computered out! I've spent the day pulling pics and videos off of my iphone and SD card. Of course I had to organize them into folders by event and so forth. Finally, I feel like I can go to Disney and not run out of room on either device.

I actually STARTED my scrapbook today. For the last 3 days, I've been going back and forth to Hobby Lobby with my little 40% off coupons. :thumbsup2 I even brought DH along in case he needed to check something out. Yesterday, he got to do just that. From Friday to Saturday, they had put out more Disney stuff and with my coupon, I got a great find!!!

150 pages for $12! Usually, I pick out page by page individually at .59 each. Even though I will be saving this pad for a future visit, we just thought this was a great find and had to get it now.

So like I said above, I actually started on my scrapbook from Christmas 09 and I'm about 1/2 way done. Gotta' finish so I can start collecting for our Halloween 2011 one! There's some CUTE stuff coming out already! I will NOT wait so long to start this next one!:hippie:

Love the scrapbooking stuff! My mom is a Creative Memories consultant, so our basement/craft area is full of that kind of stuff! Do you do a lot of scrapbooking?

GREAT find on those Disney pages!! :thumbsup2 And good for you starting that '09 scrapbook...I haven't started mine yet...or even printed the pics. :rolleyes1 But I DO have the book.

:cool1: for 3 months!!! and for gettin' your hair did! ;)

I really don't do a lot of scrapbooking. The only thing I scapbook is our Disney trips. I'm really not that talented or creative with that type of stuff and my scrapbooks are usually pretty simple. I'm more of a print out last year's photos and put them in a photo album kind of girl but Disney is "special." So, I try to do something special with some of those pics. It's more fun for the kids to look at a scrapbook than a regular photo album anyway. Do you scrapbook? You obviously must have plenty of resources. ;)

:lmao: That's funny! If I wouldn't have another trip coming up (one that, because its a holiday, I know I will probably want to do another scrapbook for), I wouldn't have started this one yet either. I have just procrastinated so much. I enjoy doing it but I just feel like I'm not good at it. I'm trying to layer things and such but basically I'm just putting different background papers and slapping stickers on the pages. :confused3

BTW, LOVIN the straight hair! :thumbsup2

After reading the "funny things you hear people say at disney" thread. I can't hardly wait to ask a CM while holding park maps "which park is that Harry Potter ride in?" or maybe riding on the monorail I can call the contemporary resort space mountain :) At the last room in small world I can say "ooohhhhh this must be iceland". Maybe I can ask for that submarine ride or Mr. Toads Wild Ride? Heck if I can make one person snicker it will be well worth it.

Last week I joked with my DW that I wanted to get "the pocket chair" for disney. Thay way when we have a long not moving line, like for a show or something we can sit down. Well she was at a store the other day and found one for 10 bucks with buy one get one free so she got 2 for $10. I suppose I will bring them and put them at the bottom of our stroller. I never felt the need to sit on something before at disney but who knows. I guess a grown man sitting on a chair which looks like it was made for a tiny tiny director could still be cool right? :sad2:
