A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

you guys look awesome, i love family coordination, and the french fries, ketchup crowd must have been fun to see and perfect timing too. we have been to the christmas party but i heard the halloween party blows it away, cant wait to read all about it

Costumes look awesome-so worth the months of drama.

(Tiggerbell, do the rings look familiar?)

Kathy

Are those the adjustable-given-to-ladies-in-waiting rings or the non-adjustable-finally-put-a-ring-on-it-in-Morocco rings? (That chapter's going up in a few minutes - you got a scoop!)

And it's my turn to return the compliment - YOU LOOK FABULOUS!!!!!! Did you notice a difference touring after droping some of the weight? I sure did! My next goal is the May trip and hopefully anther 20# before it!

You all look great in your coordinated pirate costumes. It's so nice that everyone dressed up!

Yay for Billy quickly getting past the bun issue!

The ketchup, mustard, fries, and hot dog costumes are hilarious! :rotfl:

1. :thumbsup2: on the costumes! Doesn't beat my Halloween costume, but it's very cute :)

2. The ONE AND ONLY time we went for MNSSHP...there was a tornado the night of our party.

Yes, a tornado.

In Florida.

:headache:

3. Can't wait for more :)

You guys look awesome!! I love the costumes!

Glad to hear Billy ate the hot dog. It sounds like he is getting better at adapting to unknown situations every day!

And the hot dogs/ketchup/mustard.. HILARIOUS!!!

You all look great in your costumes!! :thumbsup2

I'm laughing at the thought of ketchup, mustard, hot dog & fries eating ketchup, mustard, hot dogs & fries at Caseys! :rotfl2:

I love the costumes Kathy!! It's neat you all did a pirate theme, very cool!! :) I agree with Billy, didn't think the hotdog at Casey's was that great. Edible but just "eh". The corn dog nuggets were much better!

:goodvibesI am loving the Party installments so far. You had an easier time getting a bus than we did. We had to wait for the third bus to come along because they were all so full.

Do you mind if I take a couple of your scenery pictures? I didn't get a lot of those. It's hard to take pictures when you are trying to keep track of a five year old.

Yay! Party time!! You guys look GREAT!!

That must have been a hysterical sight in Casey's, glad they arrived to lighten the mood. My Daniel certainly knows how to push DHs buttons sometimes too. ;)

It seems funny to be looking at fall/halloween decorations now as I'm looking out at the frozen snow but I"m looking forward to hearing more about the party.

Was that in '07? We were there a week later, but I was of course on the Dis a ton the week before, so I read all about the horrible weather at that party (if it's the same one).

Kathy - I love the cosutmes! You all look great - so glad Billy ate his hotdog, life is so much better when kids have full bellies!

LOVE the costumes! You guys looked so great! And I'm glad the meal at Casey's went well, I am partial to the corn dog nuggets myself. What do you get on the DDP at Casey's?

The girls announced that they had finished adorning themselves with fake bling and were now ready to go. The boys were ready, too, but I wasn’t even dressed yet. “Come on, Kathy, it’s a quarter to four already,” Ed growled. “Get a move on!”

I made a face. :p “Well, if I wasn’t so busy helping everyone else with their costumes, I’d be dressed by now!” He grumbled a little under his breath about always being late as he finished packing his backpack and went to round up the kids.

isn't this the truth...;) that's how I feel most mornings

Chapter Nine:We’re Gonna Party Like it’s 999 (Happy Haunts!)

:rotfl2: I just love this chapter title...:thumbsup2

Not to sound snarky or anything, but I was amazed at the number of guests entering and exiting the park who did not stop for a moment in deference to our flag being lowered and The Star Spangled Banner being sung. Shame on them! :sad1:

don't feel bad...I would have felt the same way too...

my cute little Star Spangled Banner story of the day...yesterday Aldine was playing her cello for her Great Grandma that was over at our house for a bridal shower for my future SIL, and she is practicing this song...and we are all big baseball fans...so when she was done we called out "Play Ball" :goodvibes

Soon we were walking “right down the middle”. The crowd was not too bad… yet.

:woohoo: don't you love that feeling!

pirate: pirate: ARGH!!! you guys look fabulous, it was so worth the wait to see the pictures.

We were just about to turn off the Hub toward Adventureland when I suddenly realized that we had forgotten to stop by Guest Relations for Billy’s GAC. So, we turned around and walked all the way back to Town Square!

:confused3did you have to exit the park? do you know how early GS outside the park open? MK should be our first park on our trip this yr and if all goes to plan we'll be arrivng pre-park opening for a BBB appt. for the little girls, but I will need to obtain a GAC as well? will I have to get it later..do you know? thanks

The girls had already begun to eat their hot dogs and Tricia started saying, “This bun is weird…” but immediately held herself in check when Ed sent her a look, nodded toward her brother and mouthed, “Shut up!”

we're used to that in our house too... ;)

We really needed a tension-breaker and at that very moment, in walked two people dressed up as a bottle of mustard and a bottle of ketchup! They looked around and, seeing that all the tables were taken, sat themselves down on the bleachers and began to eat their hot dogs.

Well.

Tricia and Catie thought it was hysterical and began to laugh…hard. Then, who should come along to join them but a giant hot dog and an order of fries! :rotfl: The entire room was laughing now and the condiments waved to the crowd while their partners settled down and began to eat…hot dogs and French fries!

“That’s a little creepy if you think about it,” said Catie.

“Yeah, it’s like they’re cannibals or something,” replied Tricia.

You couldn't have asked for a better ice breaker than that...:rotfl2:

that would have been quite a sight...too funny.

sounds like your first MNSSHP is off to a great start...can't wait for more

the costumes came out great. great job kathy!

how many people can say ketchup, mustard, hot dog and some fries relieved family tension?

I hate to have to ask, but what is wrong/different about the new hot dogs? My kids are seriously picky... I'm impressed that Billy ate it! :thumbsup2

The costumes came out beautifully! The family photos are priceless! You all look fantastic :lovestruc

Can't wait for pictures!

Kathy you are killing me I am dying to see pictures.

I'm not a patient person :yay:.

It's the MOST wonderful time of the year!...well, atleast for me! :thumbsup2

MNSSHP, I can't wait!

Looking forward to photos of your pirate crew.

Great update! Can't wait to see pictures! pirate:

Whew! Now that I finally posted pix I'm off The Hook!!

No, it was way back in '97!

That was a great installment and I am so excited to hear how it all turned out! Right about that time I was flying into MCO and about to have a drama filled evening!

LOVE the costumes! You guys looked so great! And I'm glad the meal at Casey's went well, I am partial to the corn dog nuggets myself. What do you get on the DDP at Casey's?

Funny how you can be at WDW the very same week as somebody else but still have such a unique experience! That's one of the reasons I love TRs.

We all got the same thing at Casey's and used one CS each: a hot dog, an order of fries, a beverage, and a chocolate chip cookie.

I hate to have to ask, but what is wrong/different about the new hot dogs? My kids are seriously picky... I'm impressed that Billy ate it! :thumbsup2

The dogs are no longer all beef (like the kind we usually have at home) and the buns are "multi-grain." They have little brown specks in them which tipped Billy off immediately that something was different.

The hot dogs were just okay... not awful...but not as good as the original Casey's hot dogs. BTW, seems as though all the burgers in all the CS restaurants are served with the same multi-grain bun. They are not very hearty, though, and fall apart in your hands while you're eating.

It's one of those things that sounds like a healthier choice, but I sincerely doubt there is any real fiber in those rolls...

You are all adorable but Kathy, you look fabulous!!!!!!!!!! SO pretty!

I love your striped bag with the costume, perfection!

Bummer about the buns at Casey's but how hysterical are those costumes!!!!!!!!

How very very fun and what a perfect tension breaker.

You were up late. I am up early....and what a great surprise to be the first one to read your late night update! Your costumes are really great. I love the girl's stockings. So cute. Great pictures of the whole family. You guys look great - really a nice theme.

I have a confession to make - I have never eaten at Casey's. But I have the corndog nuggets on my list for next trip. I'm glad that Billy started to enjoy his hotdog after a little gentle prodding (not!). :rotfl: Oh well....I am sure you are off to a wonderful evening! Can't wait!

Thanks!

I don't know if we'll bring the kids back to Casey's, but I am going to try the corndog nuggets someday!

How funny with the ketchup and mustard in Casey's, I would have been cracking up, too! Loving the report so far, can't wait for the next installment!

I'm sure the group chose Casey's expressly for that reason!

Can't wait to see how they accessorized differently!

It's always a fine line between racoons, sultriness, and 13-year-olds. :lmao:

Well, they're still learning about "less is more!" And I think they were afraid of poking each other in the eye!

They wore different jewelry, really, that's all. It's hard to see in the pictures. At first, Tricia was going to wear a hat and Catie a bandana but then Tricia switched to the same bandana so they really didn't look very different...
:confused3
