A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

WOW! All I can say is WOW! The pool area just looks so fantastic and dreamy. I would have been dreaming about an adult bevvie in hand too, slowly sipping, taking everything in, ahhhhhh. Then wham, I read that it made you sick!! That's no fun at all!

Makes me re-think my idea of hitting the Ditch in Mexico for a margharita and some of those yummy looking crab tostadas they have. Maybe for dinner instead of during the day?? :confused3 Good points made about drinking in the heat.

Guess I'll have to be patient to see if you make it to the party without getting REALLY sick, and if those costumes look good. (which I'm sure they do!)

I think it was not only the heat, but the rapidity in which I drank. So glad I didn't finish it!

You simply must drink margharitas when in Mexico... but maybe waiting until dinner is best! The food absorbes some of the alcohol I guess...

Hi Kathy! So glad to see you have a ticker! Even if it is two years out... It definitely feels better to see the numbers decreasing day by day.

Your plans sound great for 2012! We would like to go in February, but with the timing of Tim's bonuses every year it works out better for us to go in April. Maybe one of these years we'll plan ahead a little better and swing a February trip. I know Tim would appreciate the cooler February weather. :thumbsup2 And I'm totally with you on avoiding the summer heat... yuck!

Our first trip was in mid-Sepember and I recall feeling so wilted the entire week. Happy, but wilted! The first week of Feb would be ideal because it would be value season but, alas, with Tricia in High School we have to go during one of the Peak Seasons $$$. *Sigh* The end of August would work, but the heat and humidity just makes that out of the question for me.

Lots of stuff to comment on with this round of updates!

Giraffes outside your window has to be one of the best things about a savannah view room! I don't know if I would ever be able to pull myself away from them!

Too bad you had to take the roundabout way to the pool, but you are right, it looks like an awesome pool complex! Hurray for Billy trying the slide just once.

I was tickled pink that among all the great African proverbs, they snuck in one from Walt Disney! :lovestruc

Ugh, sorry to hear about the Tangerine Dream! I loved the one I had at the AKL pool, but I was just lying there and not trying to do anything. I hope you feel better in time for the Halloween party.

Yippee for a ticker! I know exactly what you mean about being depressed when you don't have one -- I went three months without one and thought I was going to die!

It's so true... having a ticker for a far-off trip is much, much better than having no ticker at all!

Your giraffe pictures had ours beat, though.

As for the TG drink, well, I guess I'm not in my twenties anymore! :rolleyes1

What a relaxing morning and afternoon at the pool! I forgot my cell phone charger on our trip, but never even thought to ask at the front desk if they had one that would work. I also tried the Tangerine Dream, and you're right, it's strong!

Yay for having a ticker!

I noticed that yours says "F&W with my Sweetie"... will this be a couple's only trip?

Good, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that drink was stronger than "advertized"! Next time my mid-day drink will be virgin!

Kathy

Yay, a ticker!! Any ticker is better than no ticker. We are looking at 2011 and the thoughout of waiting that long makes me want to jump off of a bridge. :( Can't wait to read all about the Halloween party!

:rotfl: Yes, I do believe that for some of us, WDW is just like crack...

Kathy

It's my own fault! I wasn't happy with him, though, and gave him a little scolding about asking first before he logged other people off the computer. He put his hand over my mouth and told me to "slow down" and to "just breathe!" :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Kathy

LOL, Daniel does the same thing. Whenever I'm yelling or "freaking out" about something he'll say over and over "calm down, calm down, not so loud". :rotfl: I'm sure he hears that so much that he knows when to use it now. ;)

Kathy

No truer words have been said!!! We don't know when we'll be back at WDW either, I'm hoping for Nov 2010 though.

Loved the update!! My DH sounds a lot like your DH. A couple of trips ago my DH told me if we didn't slow down we'd be taking some time off from going to WDW as he couldn't take the pace. Now I'm careful to schedule resort time so I don't burn him out.

Looking forward to MNSSHP in your next post!!

I noticed that yours says "F&W with my Sweetie"... will this be a couple's only trip?

You bet! I decided that since my kids each get to go to a week of residential summer camp, I get to have a long weekend with my hubby for Food and Wine!

FABULOUS updates, Kathy! The AKV pool looks amazing and so much fun! I definitely start to feel that same way when I drink something like that too quickly! Hope you were feeling better for the party! Can't wait to hear all about it! :goodvibes

Sara

Kathy, Your pictures are great! That pool area is awesome, but that is just for DVC members correct?

I hear you sister. Look at my ticker, our next trip is even further out:sad2:

I'm fairly sure that the Samawati Springs area is only for those staying at Kidani or Jambo House; DVC members or not. Yes... here is the info straight from the DVC website:

Samawati Springs Pool
Cool off in this zero-entry pool that features a 128-ft. long water slide. Take relaxation to a whole new level in one of the two whirlpool spas near the main pool, or refresh at Maji Pool Bar. Samawati Springs Pool is available only to Members and non-Members staying at Jambo House and Kidani Village.

So you see, as long as you are a guest of AKL you can use both pool areas whether you are a DVC member or not! Yay! Jimmy will be so happy!

At least we all admit our addiction openly!;)

I always say, "They're autistic, not stupid!" Billy knows how to use my own words right back at me! He also knows I can't stay mad at him for more than a minute.

Kathy

That's fantastic! Mom-and-Dad-Only trips are so different from family trips... you really see Disney in an entirely different light!

Sara

Hey Sara! We usually don't get to spend as much time at our resort pool as we would like, but we made time for this pool!

I'm feeling so much better now that so many of you have confessed to having similar experiences with adult beverages. I was beginning to think I was getting old!

Kathy

I loved the update!! The pictures were great. So sorry about your forgetting your phone charger. Billy looked like he was having such a great time at the pool. Also sorry for you not feeling well because of the drink. I hope you felt better by the time the party started.

Billy is a fish... it's always so hard to drag him away from the pool! He usually gets all prune-y before he will get out of the water!

Kathy

Thanks to some phenomenal friends, I will be staying at Kidani in December before and after my cruise - even though I've stayed at AKL before, you have gotten me very excited about the pool area. I hope the weather cooperates and we can hit the slide... of course, I'll be thinking of Billy the entire ride - I tend to FLY down water slides uncontrolably...

:lmao:

Jaimie, you will love Samawati Springs... just watch out for the drinks at Maji!!

Kathy

Kathy, I need an update! Take us to the party, please! We've had a couple of major autism issues here recently (social misunderstandings at school - big ones)... I want to go to a party!

popcorn::

The DIS is crack, too. :rolleyes1

But does a lot less damage!

Definitely. I'm either All or Nothing when it comes to DISing...when I'm busy I have to completely go cold turkey and not sign on because if I do then the hours just slip by!

Ah, the weekend is here! I will have time to write tomorrow! I've got my pictures all ready to go...
