A Guide to Going to Disney on Your Birthday!

Thank you for all the great info. We are going on an all girls trip Oct 7-11 and on the 8th is my friends daughters birthday. We have been planning on getting her a cake for that night, but now I know she will be thrilled that people will wish her a Happy Birthday. Just recently heard about the birthday pin, but the t-shirt is a great idea too.

Thanks for sharing these great tips, Steph! Now I'm really looking forward to my birthday at Disney! :)

We are planning a trip for my birthday in February(actually going the week before so we can get cheaper rate). We have gone before for DS & DD birthdays. When making the reservations before I had mentioned their birthdays but nothing was done. When making these I mentioned it was my birthday trip and our LONG delayed honeymoon(21 years) and the CM got info for two magic moment certificates and said they would be waiting at checkin.
So be sure to mention it when making reservations.

My dad says his 55th birthday was the most special birthday he ever had in his life thanks to the disney magic. :)

Hi,
Thanks for all the great info! We'll be there this Jan. on my DD's 9th b-day (Jan. 2), and she really wants to do a character meal somewhere. We've been to Chef Mickey's and liked it, but I'm wondering what you all feel would be the best for a birthday. Any suggestions? We're not picky about food (although edible is good)--the character experience and possible birthday attention is what's important!

THANKS!

My suggestion would be for a birthday breakfast at the Crystal Palace! The place is wonderful with the characters and the food is not bad either. They do a parade around the resturant, and if your child is wearing a birthday button, most likely will be involved....

So, I just spent the last 45 minutes reading this entire thread and I am so excited about our upcoming trip. My dd will turn 9 on 10/4 and she is so happy. She knows that we are doing CRT the morning of her birthday and CP on the night of her birthday, but she has no idea that people will make a fuss over her. I have already ordered the birthday cake at CRT (yes, cake with breakfast--I am a great mom!!) and I figured we could just do the free cupcake at CP. I just can't wait. Thanks to everyone ESPECIALLY STEPHANIE for all the advice.

I would like info as well on how to handle celebrating a child's birthday and preventing the other child from feeling left out. My DS will turn 3 on our trip, but DS, 5, will not have a bday until April. Yes, we could celebrate both, but I could see my 5 year old going around thinking he is already 6. Oh, well, guess that wouldn't be such a problem if he thought that for a couple of months. Tips would be appreciated. Should we celebrate both but indicate that DS 5 is having an unbirthday? Thanks!

We arriving on my actual birthday (one week from today  ).
Some of this sounds kind of fun, but I am wondering if I will be embarrassed by all this attention.
I know our resort knows it is my birthday (they asked on a questionnaire). I will have a cake after dinner at 'Ohana.
I think it is great that so many others love the big spectacle. Just not sure if I can be that carefree, for lack of a better word.
Deep down, I have to admit, that I am excited about arriving on my birthday. :charac2: I will be 36 and my birthday is always the after thought. My mom didn't "believe" in birthday parties. My husband is great in so many other aspects, but birthdays aren't a big deal to him. No surprises, no cakes...(he told me to order a cake for dinner this year, if I want  I did). Last night I ordered my own birthday gift, too! (a new digital camera for our trip :) ). I swear DH is not a jerk, he just doesn't value the birthday occasion. I always make a huge deal over everyone else's birthday and get disappointed with my own. :charac2:
I think it will be weird to have a few people treating me different because it is my birthday. DH probably won't want me to get a pin, he'll say that is for kids.
Although, the kid in me wants the extra attention, I think it may be embarrassing. How do you all "let loose" and just enjoy it or do you just have really outgoing, extroverted personalities to begin with?
BTW, it is my kids first trip to Disney and our first day there. I really do want the day to be MORE about them than me.
I just celebrated by 51st birthday at WDW. At first it does feel kind of funny, but believe in the magic and you will soon be playing to the attention. The Toontown Tuners played Happy Birthday to me while I stood on the sidewalk with them. The Dapper Dans sang to me and I got hugs from all. And best of all Scoop asked me to dance in the middle of Main Street for a couple of songs the Toontown Tuners were playing. Everyone, even other guests wish you a happy birthday, and you get desert for free! Even at some of the counter service places. Last month when we went thru the turnstiles, the CM said "You are now 21" to my sister. She replied, "That's funny I act like I am 8". Be 8 or any other age that will allow you to enjoy your Magical Birthday celebration. Have a wonderful day!! :Pinkbounc

First trip to Disney for all of us DM, 3 DD each has a b-day in an 8 wk span, 11/07, 12/14, 01/10. going 12/5-12/11 is it appropriate to get birthday pins for each? I let each pick her own special character dinner. Would like to make their birthdays special there also. princess: 12/14 7yo :teacher: 01/10 14yo  11/07 17yo Thank you in advance for any advice you have

OH Cool. My DH doesn't know it yet but he is having his birthday breakfast at Crystal Palace in 28 days! I sure hope they embarass the heck out of him. :rotfl:

I am going to WDW this weekend for my birthday. My birthday is Sunday, and I am going Tomorrow night for MNSSHP and am staying overnight at CBR then i am spending all day saturday at the MK and maybe hop over to EPCOT. I mentioned when I made my reservations at CBR that i am coming in honor of my Bday so maybe they will surprise me with something. I do plan on getting a bday button at the MK.

My DH and I will be at WDW for my 46th birthday on February 26th :cool1: and our 25th wedding anniversary on February 27th. I have been contemplating which park to visit on which day for our special occasions. My birthday will be on a Sunday. Did I read somewhere earlier that you get free drinks at Epcot on your birthday? That would sure narrow down the decision for that day! Just wondering what you guys would suggest for parks and restaurants on those 2 days. (I am surprising my DH with a RP Driving Experience on Monday - our anniversary, so that will take up part of the day on Monday). TIA for any suggestions! :wave2:

I was wondering about birthday park choice too ,

we will be there for my husband and Mom's bdays and wonder what would be the best place to celebrate and make it special for both of them!! Any suggestion would be great!!!! Thanks

Thanks for creating this thread! Lots of useful tips :teeth: Searching on EBay curiously, I came across one of those offical "Today Is My Birthday" MK pins and the seller said in the description that the pin used to be given out to guests who could prove that it was their birthday while they were in the park that day. My question is, do they still give out the birthday pins? Thanks :stitch:

-"A" princess:

i am sure they still give them out. i didn't know you had to "prove" it though - we celebrated my birthday in WDW one year a few days before the actual date (our vacation was over by then) and no one asked for "proof." that's what I was planning to do for DBF (we are coming home 2 days before his birthday becos it falls on Memorial Day weekend - yeeech, no way am i going to the parks then!!) i think they trust people not to take advantage :confused3
