Last night I was reminded of a lesson I learned long ago, "Do not take their word for it and don't stop trying!"
I have been going to WDW and DL my entire life. In the last 12 yrs I've gone at least 3 times a year, some for business but most for pleasure. Every trip is a big deal for my family as we either go alone or meet family or friends, making it a special occasion. I've learned that getting ADR's isn't always going to go my way, but not to give up after being told there is no availability. So when planning for an upcoming trip I called to get our ADR's and got everything but the Fantasmic! dinner package. I've called back periodically to check if anything had opened up and the last two times I called I was told that Disney was no longer offering the dinner package... news to me!
Last night I called back, bypassed the automated system to speak with a rep and told them what I was looking for. Her first response was, "There is no availability for that day"; Second response, "Fantasmic! is only being held on Thursday nights in June."; her third response was, "Disney no longer offers the dinning package for Fantasmic!" All of these responses came very quickly and without me prodding her further.
After telling me they were only doing Fantasmic! on Thursdays I got on disneyworld.com and looked up the dinner package and got the date and time I was looking for. I told her I was able to book it online, her response "Sir, that is impossible." I had her pull up the confirmation number and she was shocked.
Now I am not saying Disney Dining doesn't know what they're talking about, they can be very helpful. It is just a good thing to remember, with all the different avenues to get ADR's now, always try them all and don't give up trying if you really want something.
