A Good Guide for Disneyland?

I've been a huge Passporter user for our past trips to Disneyworld. At this point, I still buy one for every trip, but I'm not sure why. :lmao:

Now, I'm looking for something for an upcoming trip to Disneyland. Is there a good guide? I saw Passporter had one, but not sure if it's "the best". Any recommendations?

Thanks so much. I feel like I know a lot about WDW at this point, but nothing about Disneyland....and I need help!

Not technically a guideBOOK (it's better ;)).....but here's your starting point if you're a WDW veteran:

A DLR Guide for WDW Vets

Some folks use ridemax. But I'd recommend reading the above link twice & then the rest of Hydroguy's tip thread links prior to investing in a "guide".

Have a great time planning a visit to Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

:)

I am like you and need a book just to have one lol I ended up getting 2. I like braum's guide out of the 2 I bought. I pretty much use it so I have maps of the park and can visualize better.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited. I had told the family we were taking a year off Disney....and that year is, umm, 2011. And now I'm thinking, "Well, I didn't ban Disneyland or DCL.....", so thinking I'll be checking into Halloween time availability now.

and I'm off to do some reading....

I have always preferred the Unofficial Guides for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. I also will get Birnbaum's Official Guide, for the photographs primarily. You can always check with your local library to see what they have. :thumbsup2

Of course, I do get my main source of information from the internet, but you can't beat crawling into bed at night with a good guidebook. ;)

I preferred the Unofficial Guide for information (for my first few trips with the kids a cpl years ago). I don't use the guides anymore, but that is the one I liked the best.

I still use Ridemax for touring plans though and they have never steered me wrong. Regardless of who I am with, they are always in awe that it works so well!

I used the Unofficial Guide on our last two trips (bought a new book for each trip) and found the coverage of Disneyland to be fantastic...but the coverage of California Adventure was severely lacking. The suggested touring plans for Disneyland were helpful though and gave me great starting points for making the most of our days in Disneyland.

Of course the DIS board is great too, but on our trips I didn't have a smartphone and had no way of accessing all the info here while we were in Anaheim. Now that I've joined the masses and have an iphone, I'm considering doing this trip without a guidebook.

Totally agree with that!

I like the unofficial guide, too. I can't wait til next year's comes out. I read it won't be in stores til September.

Unofficial Guide and Birnbaums for pictures and both can be had at your public library.

So far for this trip, I have bought a Passporter and the Unofficial Guide. The Unofficial Guide is great, and I have learned a lot. The Passporter is just eh. What really surprised and disappointed me about the Passporter was it hadn't been updated since 2006...I've used both of these guides for WDW, and expected it to be updated yearly. I was really disappointed that the Passporter had outdate info and wish I hadn't gotten it. The Unofficial Guide was great, I think I'll look into getting Birnbaum's too! :)
