Had to share this!

Prologue:
I recently called the DisneyFlorist, since I just found out a group of my cousins will be headed to Disney World in April (they have kids, so they have to go during their vacation) I talked to the Dad (my first counsin) and he already knew about codes- good for him! But I gave him LOTS of info on special things to do with the kids, etc, etc- armed him with websites, books and info and he is off and running. I love ordering baskets from DisneyFlorist for our trips and I thought I would share the magic and surprise them with a basket when they check in.

The Gift:
So I called this morning.I got this poor girl (very polite) who was sick with a cold- I told her I had 3 ideas to theme my basket around- #1- the Light Spinners for the 2 kids in the group- but they only had TinkerBelle- and you cant do one for one kid and not the other- so headbands with ears! But, no, sadly they didn't have those either, okay plush backpacks- but the characters they had weren't going to work. They suggested i call Animal Kingdom Lodge Gift Shop, but didn't give the number.

Well I had trouble, but finally got through- only to find out the gift shop only does baskets at Easter- April 13th was too late. So I called back the DisneyFlorist- I got this friendly voice on the phone and told her a little of what I was going thru, and said I was willing to start on a different idea, I ordered the Chocoholic basket, added fruit and crackers, gourmet cheese, water bottles, etc and autograph books and 2 safari dressed characters (Goofy and Donald)-she said it will look so big. Im so excited, I hope it is a great surprise for them!!

The Magic:
She apologized for any trouble I encountered, gave me her direct line and said she would be happy to be my personal designer in the future. I said, well.....you have been so wonderful, I have a trip coming up and am celebrating my anniversary and I would like to do a basket for my husband (something I have done for him the last 2 trips) well I mentioned how we came for our honeymoon and it was in August and it was awful- she interrupted me and said "I KNOW YOU! You ordered a basket from me last year and she relayed some of my honeymoon catastrophe story...." YES! YES! Thats me! Well, this time we went, we had a blast! Until the 4th day I got so sick they had to take me to the ER at Celebration Hospital, but boy did we have fun! And we are coming back!! So thats why I want to do this basket for my husband"

(This is where it gets good!) :earsgirl:
She said "Not to turn away your business, but you do sooo much for everyone else, we would like to make one of your wishes come true- Disney Style. Can you please have your husband call me?" I just got all choked up and said yes, I would do that. She asked if I had any favorite romantic locations or favorite characters- I told her I have never met a character I didn't like- she asked if I would be okay with some thing princessy :princess: and I said sure. She then said- Oh and dont bother searching on the internet- what I have in mind isn't out there, just have your husband call me.)

WOW!! I REALLY CANT WAIT for our trip now!! :wizard:

Wow, this story made my eyes all misty!
Gotta love Disney Magic!!

Awwww....that's so sweet.....I got chocked up reading your story :) You have to report back when you return!! BTW, we love POFQ and will be there again in June....have a wonderful trip!!

First- WONDERFUL STORY!!! I got misty also!!

Second- You just HAVE to let us know what you get.!!!

Enjoy the Magic!!!! :wizard:

I can't imgine what she has in mind! Maybe a basket for me??? I told my husband and I know he will try and get in touch with her.

I didn't know what to say when she was so sweet to me! I will be sure to post whatever it is.

Just had to add DH was asking me lots of innocent questions at the gym tonight- do I like other characters over Disney Princess- whats my favorite movie- I told him Mary Poppins, but he didn't like that answer. But he says he hasn't talked to her yet.....but hes good at bluffing....Oh and I still have a month to go!!!!

Oh my goodness! I'm excited to find out!!!!!! :cheer2:

Oh, I can't wait to find out what they're doing for you!! I'm sitting here all teary eyed over your upcoming magical surprise. What a wonderful CM she must be!

I'd be sure to send in a letter recognizing her. So many people are quick to contact management with a complaint, but I wonder how many contact them with a praise?!

what happened on your honeymoon trip - did you do a trip report?

I started to, but it was too negative and i was very down on WDW then, so I just stopped and didn't finish it. Heres a bullet pointed version-

-I was given a expensive digital camera by DH- it was stolen on the plane we think- we didnt look in our bag between airport/bag check/ and room
-Temps and humidity were highest in 15 yrs and my feet were so swollen I had to stand in a tub with ice from machine and freezing water in order to get my sneakers on-DH made me do a military version of WDW.
-Our room wasn't ready when it was suppose to be.
-When we finally checked in they had shampoo'd rugs and had HUGE loud fans in our room- floors were saturated for 5 hours at least after check in.

Our whole vacation basically went like that, everyday something big would happen- the heat and lines were awful, part of it was going in AUGUST. Stuff just kept going wrong. It was MY first time to WDW, but not DH, I swore off WDW, until somehow he convinced me to try again at a better time of year, so in 2004 we went in May, well, we had such a great time the first 4 days (okay the last 3 weren't great- but HEY I can tell you the ER and nurses at Celebration Hospital are very nice)

Now I am a HUGE fan of Disney World! I tell everyone to go!!

I did baskets on our honeymoon and then in May 2004 and again for this May- I do tend to drop a decent amount of money on them- about $120- $150, but I dont think the price has anything to do with the CMs kindness to me.

One of the things I am surprsing my husband with (got the idea from someone here)- is a chocolate statue of Mickey with top hat with 6 choc covered strawberries at his feet- delivered as a surprise at Cali Grille!!

I am very excited about the basket I did for my cousins yesterday! I LOVE to send surprise gifts to my friends and family! :earboy2:

I can not wait for your report to see what your surprise ends up being!! Please be sure to post when you return! With pictures too :teeth:

It's so nice to hear about all the magic!

Because of stories like this. I can't wait to hear what you get. When I was planning my husbands 40th birthday I worked with the concierge at AKL and they were tremendously helpful. I'd arranged to have some gifts in the room for him when we arrived. To my astonishment there was a gift bag for me as well with a note saying that they liked to gift the gifter too. I was tickled pink. I can't wait to go back to AKL. I just wish I could stay Concierge again.

Thanks for sharing...

I am debating ( :rotfl: we're not going till OCT!) on which basket to send my mom and my dh and my dd - and now you go and give me even MORE options!

Agreed agreed agreed! What a wonderful person you are :) I can't wait to hear what your surprise will be!

Can't wait to see all of the magic!!! sprinkle the dust around :goodvibes

Soooooooo it IS possible for a stranger's excitement to make you all smiley and warm inside!! :) Who'd a thunk it?!! :)

My question is this.....does the DisneyFlorist have a place where you can see already made up baskets with estimated prices etc? It just sounds like the coolest thing to send someone you love a surprise! :)

And like everyone else.......I can't wait to find out your surprise!!!!
