A Gem of a trip-quality, clarity, color and "Cut that out!" completed 8/4

Great update Diamond and you once again averted a crisis with the ingenious walnut tree idea!! Good on ya!

That is a great photo of you and your DH. Very nice you had that time together, even if he was grumpy!! Adult time must be very hard to come by.

Have a lovely Christmas. I hope the kiddies are happy with Santa!

Suz

Glad you got some alone time.

And awesome job handling the walnut situation...what a clever idea about Florida needing walnut trees. :thumbsup2

Well, hurry and update...I'm on the edge of my seat.

AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!:wizard:

Great update! Yes that's a wonderful picture, you both look happy and relaxed - can't wait to read more about the tea. :flower3:

:santa: ~MERRY CHRISTMAS!!~ :santa:

Darn it... my "USER CP" is really misbehaving again...I missed the update! I love the pic of you and DH. Frankly, at this point of the trip, I think I would have asked the bartender for about ten of those drinks :thumbsup2

Update? I want to finish reading you TR before I embark on my own WDW adventure!! :cool1:

I was so far behind but am all caught up now. Can't wait to hear about the tea party. Those drinks sound yummy. Great job on the walnut tree. You are quick on your feet, I guess you have to be. Hope you had a great Christmas.

Yes, as I've mentioned Adult time was usually laundry time.

I want more!

Merry Christmas!

Soon I promise. Cross my heart.

Glad you got some alone time.

It's our own personal Disney legacy-just please don't anyone tell Jedi that it isn't the shell that grows into a tree.

I'm beginning to thing that you would love to have tea with Alice yourself. Eeoyre would have been happy to switch places with you.

I was wondering where you had been. Missed ya!

You're just rubbing it in. So jealous.

How's that pre-trip report coming along?

Yes, we had a lovely Christmas. The boys are playing the wii as I type this and Cindy is designing outfits with the help of a barbie CD rom game. I imagine we would all have to talk to each other if the power went out.

Sorry I somehow missed your updates :confused3

I bet Cindy and your Mum will look very cute in their matching dresses :goodvibes

Good move on the walnut tree story and the shirts look great, hope they all enjoyed the tea party!

Great update and pics

nice way to save the day with the walnut tree.

those drinks looked good.

Thursday August 21, 2008 Post-Tea

When we went to pick up the kids from the Tea Party we noticed that they must have had an exhausting time because when they opened those glass doors all the children were sleeping with their heads down on the table.

Just as I was wondering how I was going to carry off three sleeping children they all woke up.

All three were smiling and appeared to have a pretty good time. Eeoyre was very chatty about it. It turned out that they did indeed sit beside a character but that it was NOT Alice.

Poor Cindy had sat beside the Mad Hatter. She was a bit PO'ed with me for that. However, Alice did make a special notice of her T-shirt so she did get some face time with her.

"Hey Mom!"

"Yes Eeoyre."

"I got to throw food at the table. It was just me and the Mad Hatter. We threw grapes at each other. But then we got told to stop."

"Oh. No one else threw anything?"

"Nope. Just me" He beams.

"Well, did you eat anything or just throw it around the room?"

"I tried to eat but I didn't have enough time".

This is a common statement from Eeoyre especially regarding lunches at school. Mind you the boy takes over an hour at dinner most nights but manages to suck back his breakfast in a matter of seconds so I know that it just means he didn't really want to eat.

I give him a raised eyebrow glare.

"Honestly Mom. We didn't get to eat until after we had our picture taken and we were the last kids to get our picture done. I had barely time to pick up a chicken nugget before they took my plate away"

I ask Jedi to confirm this.

"Yeah. I didn't get nough time to eat either Mom." He says.

Here is the picture they got as part of the package. I got three of the same pictures. This is a picture of a picture.

We make it back to POR at 3:10. I snack everyone with our extra fruit (mostly grapes) leftover from meals and our snacks from the garden grocer.

Nanny and Poppa weren't there yet. I guess they were still at Epcot shopping.

We tried to make the kids rest. I dare not hope for an actual nap just some quiet TV time. Cindy can't see the TV from the trundle bed and Eeoyre and Jedi couldn't stop touching each other on the other bed. Obviously no one was going to get any rest at this point.

Oh wait. Dh manages to fall asleep. Figures.

I put Jedi in bed with Dh and take Cindy into Nanny and Poppa's room to watch TV. It works for about 40 minutes. Then I let them play with their Lego, which is what they really wanted to do anyway. Dh sleeps through it all.

At 4:45 Nanny and Poppa arrive back. They've been to Downtown Disney shopping. Nanny places her parcels on the bed and Cindy and I get shown all the loot. Mostly gifts for others so Cindy loses interest pretty quickly.

Nanny and Poppa want to nap so we close the adjoining doors and give them some peace and quiet. I think Jedi only banged on the walls twice.

I have in my journal that I did a load of laundry. It sounds to me as if I couldn't take being in the rooms anymore so I packed up a load, grabbed my book, poured some coconut rum into a re-fillable mug and took off for some RNR. I got some Coke at the food court to add to the rum.

Now last year at ASMu they had more (soda) pop choices than POR had. So I was disappointed this year. They had Fruitopia, which Cindy will drink. Cindy doesn't drink much so it was exciting to have the Fruitopia last year. She hates fizzy drinks. She mostly drinks water and luckily enjoys the flavored waters but honestly the girl barely consumes any liquids even when she was a baby. I'd only fill up her sippy cup half full for the entire day. I figure that is why she is so crabby all the time. She's always thirsty.

I have overactive bladder syndrome. It means that my bladder tells me it is full all the time. I always have to go. This can be a problem-especially at Disney. One of the things the Doctors suggested is giving up caffeine. It really does help. So I am a decaf pop and coffee person. ASMu had decaf diet coke. I was so happy. Well, I wasn't really because I had a case of it from garden grocer in my room that I didn't need now. But better to have more than not enough. Which is what happened this year.

I didn’t order a case of caffeine free diet coke to go with my rum because I thought they would have it in the food court. I had put a few cans in with luggage because I am trained to travel with it. It's hard to find out and about in the world. Anyhow rant over. It is just another reason why we liked ASMu better.

Here are the other reasons why we liked ASMu better than POR

1) Loved the family suite. It was just the perfect size for my family of five. Nanny and Poppa found their basic room just as nice as POR. They didn't need the extra space at POR.

2) Layout. The family suites were much closer to the food court. We didn't have to walk as far to get to the main pool or the food court.

3) Social Director. The activities they had at the main pool at ASMu were fun for the kids. We enjoyed watching the movies on the big screen at the main pool. I heard they also showed movies at the POR at night but as we had bad weather we never saw or heard of it.

4) Bus system. The Allstar buses only had one stop. We found it took forever to pick up at POR before we headed out. Yes, I know that the Allstars share buses with each other but that is not during the busy times so we didn't mind.

5) Theme. We all thought that POR was lovely but that Disney to our family is bold bright colours the way the Allstars are decorated.

6) Better choices for fountain drinks. I've already explained this one.

We're glad we tried POR. Now we know.

Back to the report.

We headed to the food court to get dinner at the unusual dining hour of 7:30. Very odd for the diamond clan. We are a 5:30 dinnertime family. We were surprised to see how very busy the food court was. We thought it would have been quieter at this time but the staff told us that 8-10pm is their busiest time.

I didn't write down what we all had. I know Eeoyre already had his chicken nuggets for the day so he would have had to find something else to eat. Perhaps this is the night that Eeoyre and I got the roast and mashed potatoes for dinner. I know I had it one night and it was okay.

We got to bed early tonight-with visions of star wars and toy story in our head. We were off to MGM (I mean Disney Studios) tomorrow. Our main goals were 1)Toy story mania and 2) Jedi training tutorial as we missed the pirate ones at MK due to the weather.

Would we have any better luck with the weather tomorrow? click here to find out http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=29496101&postcount=482

AH coconut rum and laundry again...really I have to do that next trip!! Well, maybe not the laundry part!

I had to read the whole 2nd paragraph I quoted before I understood the first sentence of it. I thought "Pop" was referring to POP the hotel not POP as in soda! Dummy!!

:wave2: Hi Diamond!!:flower3:
Promising update!!:tinker: Isn't it wonderful to see the sun today?
Hugs,
Daisy

I think it might be more of a "Canadian" term. I forget that Americans use the word soda. I corrected my report.

Hi Daisy!
Promising update!! Isn't it wonderful to see the sun today?

Actually I only stepped foot out of my house to help Dh move something big. Then I hurt my back so I've been inside all day. Watched Kung-Fu Panda on the Dish with the kids and a re-run of HSM on the TV. So I didn't actually notice the sun. Shame on me.

great update and pics.

I only stayed at POP and POR twice before and prefer POR. I love the feel of the mods. the values to me are to kiddy and really lack something.

Sounds like you didn;t like POR and sorry to hear that. It is our favorite mod and will be there in June for a grand gathering.

Of course I have always been close to the main building. If I was all the way to the back I might not like it.

We've been getting used to staying in hotel suites with the kids so having the five of us in one room (in bad weather) for nine nights was just too long for such a small space for us.

I'm glad to hear you liked the family suites, I've always wondered how all the sofa beds/chairs were for comfort level. I'm assuming only the kids slept in them. Did you or dh try them out at all? I love being closer to the food court and busses. I'm lazy after walking a full day at Disney;)

Yay for an update! I can't call MGM the Studios either.

I'm glad your kids enjoyed the Tea Party and you enjoyed your rum time. ;)

Yay, an update. I can't wait to hear about Hollywood Studios! We are staying at POR in November, I hope that we get through the cramped quarters and thanks for the notes about the bev. selection!
