A Gem of a trip-quality, clarity, color and "Cut that out!" completed 8/4

Oh, don't get me started on the proposing. There was none. I told him to marry me or get out. You'll notice he is still around.

But he did make a very romantic gesture this weekend. At least in my eyes. Dh took the kids to the cottage this weekend. Yes, folks I had the house all to my self for 36 hours.

I cleaned,
I sorted,
I worked on my trip report,
I undecorated from Halloween,
I purged, I went shopping,
I dised,
I ate Halloween candy,
I ordered 300 disney photos online from Costco (10 cent sale),
I windexed,
I did my nails,
I washed the dog,
I did laundry,
I cleaned the fridge
and
yes I sat my butt down on the couch for a few hours drank some wine and watched movies.

Ahhh it was heavenly. But now it is over. They are due back soon.

Oh you are so good. If Randy had taken Ash for the weekend I probably would have only accomplished the last piece of your to do list ;) :rotfl:

Push, push, push, kick. Push, push, push, kick.

Our heartwarming family moment was muddled by the Dh's clumsy attempts to use the now broken stroller.

e531e339.jpg

"Why don’t we try the stroller rental place and see if they have any ideas for us?"

Secretly I was hoping they would offer us a free stroller rental for the duration of our stay, or at least a day or two.

So we rolled (and kicked) into the stroller drop off place. No one had any idea how to help us or any magic to spread our way. Then we tried the actual rental desk where you pay for them. Again no one could help us or felt magical. I was bummed. I thought for sure that someone would offer us something.

We loaded onto the buses. Jedi was tired so he sat on my lap and Cindy sat beside me. The bus was a bit full so DH stood up. He took the dreaded backpack from me and the biggest (broken) stroller. It was still raining pretty good so we all had our ponchos on. Do you know how hard it is to keep a child wrapped in plastic on your lap when you are wrapped in plastic? He kept sliding off and he was grumpy about it since he wanted to curl up and sleep. Dh was standing right over us. He swallowed a laugh or two at us but then helped me to place my feet on top of the stroller so my knees were angled up and could keep Jedi in place. Ahh.. That was better.

I gave Jedi a big squeeze thinking about the little lost boy tonight and remembering that this was his last night as a five-year-old. Tomorrow my baby would be six. Were did the time go. I lovingly pushed the hair out of Cindy's eyes and she snuggled closer into me as well.

"Mama" she cooed at me.

I looked up at Dh silently willing him to read my mind.

Let's have another one I thought and hoped my eyes conveyed my message. He smiled back at me. Then he got that gleam in his eye. The look that says Are you going to lock the door or should I? So I think the message got confused in the transmission. Irritation quickly flashed past my eyes and I know Dh got that message.

I was glad we were the first bus stop at POR. I was hot and sweaty in all that plastic with the two kids. As soon as we got in the hotel room we started putting the kids to bed. Eeoyre was not impressed as it was before 9:30pm his usual bedtime. So began yet another debate with him. Finally we agreed to let him stay in Nanny and Poppa's room to watch TV in his PJ's with his teeth brushed until 9:30. Nanny and Poppa looked ready to head to bed but they kindly welcomed their first born grandchild and handed over the TV remote to him. Once again I was thankful that they joined us.

While the kids were settling down Dh flipped through our menu book.

"Where are we going tomorrow?" he asked.

"O'hana's for breakfast and the Luau for dinner" I answered. "Remember that's where Jedi wanted to go for his Birthday. So we have breakfast with Stitch and and then the dinner show".

He continued to look through the book. I had printed off all the menus of all the restaurants (counter and table service) from allearsnet.com that we would be visiting. I think of all my planning and organizing for our Disney trips, the allearsnet.com menu book was Dh's favorite. He looked through it every night.

I finished unpacking the backpack, picking the kid's dirty clothes off the floor and putting them in the pop up laundry hamper, hanging the ponchos out so they would dry and laying out the clothes for tomorrow. You know all that fun stuff. I had pictured our evenings in Disney differently than this. I figured Dh and I would go out on our own leaving the kids in my parent's trusty care. I had visions of Dh and I hitting the parks at night, riding the rides the kids wouldn't go on, watching the fireworks even sharing a soda with two straws. So when Dh said he was going to head out to DTD I was taken back.

"You're going where?"

"To the Lego store on the boat"

"Now?"

"I just called and they are open until 10 so if I hurry I can make it."

"I'm going with you. Just let me tell Nanny and Poppa."

So off we went in the rain. Me with ideas of shopping and romance and Dh with a plan to pick up a present for Jedi's b-day tomorrow and get the heck out of dodge as quick as possible.

We took the boat there. We were told that we would have to take the bus back. I kind of wish we had taken the bus there too. It was windy and cold. I perked up once we arrived. The plan was that I would browse the World of Disney while Dh went to the Lego store. He was to come back and meet me.

I browsed and I browsed and I browsed but no Dh. I almost bought stuff a few times but just didn't feel like it. I started to worry about Dh. Then I started to feel ill again. I'm sure I developed a fever. I just wanted to get cuddled up into bed. Even shopping at Disney wasn't going to do it tonight.

Finally Dh showed up. No luck at the Lego store. The star wars item was still out of stock. I had a few presents tucked away so I wasn't worried. Then Dh started to browse around the store himself. He never does this. Mostly he looks at the price tags and makes some sort of snide comment about how overpriced everything is and how it is all made in China. Dh closely inspected some PJ's for Cindy. He looked at the price tag and still looked interested in them. He even picked the hanger up and asked me if I thought Cindy would like them.:confused3

It was about all I could take. I was feeling the effects of an illness coming on. Perhaps I was seeing things.

"Let's just go Hon." I pleaded.

We waited in the wind and the rain for the bus home. There were lots of us. The longer the bus took to come the angrier the crowd got. At one point I was afraid for my life. A pushing match took place between a woman that was waiting at the front of the line (I use that term loosely as being a school teacher I know my lines but this line was a real line. This line was more like the lines we get the first day in grade two when everyone has forgotten how to line up over the summer) and a woman who had been waiting quite some time but chose to wait under the shelter a few feet away. My vote was on the woman who had been waiting in the rain. The wetness just made her more angry. Dh stood protectively by my side that the pushing was going on. He was willing to take a hit from an angry (wet) mob for me. I guess it doesn't get more romantic than that.

It was a long ride home. We stopped at all the stops at DTD and French Quarters. Cirque had just been let out. I made a mental note NOT to take the bus home the night we were going. There was not room for anyone to get on. We only stopped in case someone wanted out.

I had a hot bath and took some cold medicine when we finally got home. So much for an adult evening. Maybe next time.

Up next Jedi turns 6! We celebrate yet again.

How many celebrations can his siblings take before they rebel and hide his birthday buttons?

Was the Luau that Jedi insisted on for his birthday dinner cancelled due to the weather?

Who is sick all over whose crocs?

Hey D, great update, but I really came over here to post and make sure you know about the deal going on during your and DH's trip. Now, maybe you've already purchased flights, and maybe you can't actually take 7 days off, since your booked trip is only 4 days....but just in case you could and had somehow missed the insanity, it's basically buy 4 nights, get 3 free. I've even read that some people are only going for 6 nights, and just abandoning the hotel room for the free 7th night. Like I said, just wanted to make sure you knew about it in case you could apply it to your trip.

I am just loving your TR!!! I go from WOW!!!.. to OWW!!!... to OOH!!!... to AHH!!!... to HAHA!! over and over again!!

Your trip was certainally a rollercoaster adventure! Thanks for sharing it:hug:

Paula

Poor you, that evening sounded terrible with the wind and rain, no lego and the pushing  Glad you got back to bed safely :goodvibes

Great update! I love how descriptive your TR is :thumbsup2 Why did you have two strollers? I'm confused (like usual lol) :confused3 I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy your kid-free evening - I can soooo relate to how rare those are! :sad2: I hope you felt better the next morning!

Thanks Alice, I am aware of it. However as a teacher getting time off during he school year is pretty hard. I could never lie and say I was sick because then I couldn't tell anyone I was going and how could I possibly keep my Disney trip a secret? So it doesn't work for me.:sad1:

Thanks Paula, it took some courage to start my TR because I thought our families trip might be too boring.

Poor you, that evening sounded terrible with the wind and rain, no lego and the pushing Glad you got back to bed safely

Thanks for the sympathy Jo. I think it was a case of me feeling ill and that just colored my whole evening dark. Kind of like when your DD couldn't find her itzydoozle (okay I butchered that word but I never did know how to say it or spell it)

Sorry for no romance...
Yeah sort of the story of our relationship. I've learnt along the years that I'll never get the lifetime channel type of romance out of Dh. However, if I look closely there is some romance there in other forms like when he moved between me and the duelling bus stop ladies.

I will have to keep reminding myself of this lack of "traditional romance gene" in Dh when we go on our solo trip. I may need some reminding from all of you if you notice I start to go astray on this.

Great update! I love how descriptive your TR is Why did you have two strollers? I'm confused (like usual lol) I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy your kid-free evening - I can soooo relate to how rare those are! I hope you felt better the next morning!

Welcome lisalonglash!

Yes, those nights out are rare. That's why I'm looking forward to my bday day trip with Dh only.

About the strollers... They are quite the hot debate on some of the boards. There are many people who would flame me for having strollers for my kids aged 5 and 7. So flame me if you will but the nightmare meltdowns are eased by our strollers and the people who would flame me are behind a computer screen not in fantasy land in the august heat actually dealing with my kids. You have to do what is right for your family. Oh and Eeoyre kept trying to get in a stroller to so keep in mind that I have kids that enjoy being pushed around and see no shame in it.

These are the reasons why we brought two strollers with us. Dh and I both agreed that our two youngest needed strollers. Not because they couldn't walk but because they needed a place to cool down/destress when they got overstimulated. A safe place really. Plus we needed to move around the park quickly as we had planned to follow TGM touring guides and two dwadling kids really slows you down. I would have gotten a wheel chair for Nanny if I she would have let me.

We've tried the double stroller thing but 1)we wanted to split up alot on this trip and 2)the kids do not keep their hands to themselves when they are that close (think backseat of the car) so we needed two seperate ones.

The prices to rent strollers went up so much that we knew we would bring our own. I only had the one real one(the old striped evenflow one that the wheel broke off) and an umbrella stroller. Thee was no way I was going to push my umbrellas stroller around. It's too uncomforatable. So I bought a new one. I researched for ages and ended up finding one for sale at $49.00 at Zellers. I would have loved to have bought a fancier one but as I haven't used the stroller since so I think I made the right choice.

With all the rain we had we used the stroller alot. I had plastic covers for both of them and the kids were happy to escape the wind and the rain. Nanny kept fretting that the kids couldn't breathe through all that plastic but she was always walking so far behind us usually I couldn't hear her. (LOL)

Shame to people flaming you about strollers. DD was almost 5 on our last trip and I wouldn't have dreamed of going without a stroller. I don't know at what point we'll stop bringing it but it won't be next year either. We wear pedometers at Disney and typically walk between 9-10 miles a day (our personal best was 16 miles but that was before DD went with us). At home, my DD definately doesn't walk 10 miles a day. Now add in immense heat and overexcitement and a stoller is definately a necessity.

Okay done with my rant!

I finally loaded the rest of my photopass pictures so here are the group castle shots we took just before the family magic tour.

I feel this one has a mary poppins feel to it thanks to Nanny and the umbrella.

I lightened this one up so the weather doesn't seem so gloomy.

Cindy looks pretty happy in this one but since the boys look a little put out I like the next one better.

This one is my favorite and just might end up being our Christmas card this year.

Talk about your frizzy hair-I just gave up and gave into mine this trip. I kept thinking a cast member would hand me a "Frizz of the day" award signed by the mouse himself. (or maybe Ursula from the Little mermaid/ or Cruella DeVille as they have some bad hair of their own to deal with).

Shame to people flaming you about strollers.

Don't worry Kristine, no one has ever flamed me directly about strollers. I've just witnessed it on other threads. But if they do I'm calling you out as my backup okay?

Oh, don't get me started on the proposing. There was none. I told him to marry me or get out. You'll notice he is still around.

But he did make a very romantic gesture this weekend. At least in my eyes. Dh took the kids to the cottage this weekend. Yes, folks I had the house all to my self for 36 hours.

I cleaned,
I sorted,
I worked on my trip report,
I undecorated from Halloween,
I purged, I went shopping,
I dised,
I ate Halloween candy,
I ordered 300 disney photos online from Costco (10 cent sale),
I windexed,
I did my nails,
I washed the dog,
I did laundry,
I cleaned the fridge
and
yes I sat my butt down on the couch for a few hours drank some wine and watched movies.

Ahhh it was heavenly. But now it is over. They are due back soon.

I am woman hear me roar! (and burp)

Yeah, I'm still around. Just busy!

I loved the lost and found little boy story! You all got to do so much stuff!

Nooooo flaming here - I was just asking a question because I was confused! :confused3 A parent KNOWS what her child/ren need :thumbsup2 Great photopass pictures :goodvibes Also, I know what you mean about the "subtle" romantic gestures - I'm married to a man like that too LOL I'll tell ya, having the evening free (thanks to MIL babysitting our boys at the hotel) to go "eat around the world" at the F&WF at Epcot one night was FANTASTIC! It's hard not to feel a little romance when you're wandering around noshing on yummy food, drinking champagne and listening to great music coming from all around you - perhaps you and your dh could try Epcot next time :woohoo:

Looking forward to your next update popcorn::

I am just getting caught up Diamond, but I have to comment on the little lost boy story. That just broke my heart! I am so glad you and Cindy were able to rescue the little guy. That must have been just devasting for him. Good for the two of you!

Your photo pass pics are great and yes, I would use that one for your Christmas card.

Your DTD night sounds lousy. Did you feel better the next day?

Suz

At 6:30 we got the wake up call. I was still a little foggy from my head cold and I wait it out to see if Dh will answer it. After all he is closer.

Nope.

I rolled on top of Dh to pick up the phone. He forgot where we were for a moment and grabbed me but I was determined and pushed him aside. So he wasn't still sleeping after all.

It was Mickey and Stitch again. They were the only ones who ever called. Is there any other wake up scenario?

I jumped into action. We had an 8am ADR for O'hana's. I always knew in the back of my head that we would never make it but it wasn't going to be because me. I was ready in no time.

I woke the kids up. I started with Jedi

"Happy Birthday 6 year old"

"Good morning Mommy" said my sleepy boy while reaching out for a morning cuddle. After a few snuggles he suddenly realized that it was indeed his birthday morning and that meant presents. He sat up in a flash.

As I mentioned I had gotten some small presents to celebrate his birthday. Jedi knew his big present from Mom and Dad was the Star Wars Lego set he wanted and that he would get it when we got home. But still there was some unwrapping to be done. I also got something small for Cindy and Eeoyre. So everyone was happy this morning.

It took less time to get ready because we going out for breakfast so we could skip the whole making the kids eat something before we headed out the door. But we couldn't skip Jedi's morning meltdown.:scared1:

This morning he decided he didn’t want to have his birthday at Disney after all and he certainly didn't want to go see Stitch. Dh and I played a version of rock, paper scissors to decide who was dealing with him. I lost. So I wasn't in the rosiest of moods leaving the room.

Despite it all we knocked at Nanny and Poppa door and were ready to leave at 7:05am.

Now, I said we were ready to leave meaning those who resided in our hotel room and as I've mentioned before Poppa was always ready to go on time so who does that leave as the dilly dallier? Nanny, of course. She was still in bed. UGHHHHH.

Those connecting doors are not thick. I know she heard Jedi and I battle. I'm not sure how she could sleep through it. She says she thought we would take longer as we usually do. She forgot to factor the not eating breakfast part of the morning.

We said we would meet her at the bus stop but I wish we had of just said the restaurant because we missed the 7:12 bus and the next one didn't come until 7:40. Again I followed the if you can't say anything nice be quiet rule. There might have been a few grumbles from my direction but I blamed them on my growling stomach.

I was really hoping that this wasn't going to be a pattern every day. It was hell getting Jedi out of the room and yet I managed to do. Why couldn't Nanny get moving on time when it was just her she had to look after?

We took the bus to the MK and than the monorail to the Poly. I jumped out and ran down to O'Hana's to check in. It was 8:15. The lineup to check in was huge. It was after 8:30 when I finally got to the front.

"You know you were supposed to be here for 8:00am? We gave your table away. You will have to wait to be seated with the 9:00am crowd."

Not so magical for me this morning after all. Miss Molly sunshine took off to seat another family. I didn't move from the registration desk. Another CM showed up.

"Can I help you?"

I smile and start from the beginning again.

"This is our ADR number. Table for 7, 4 adults, 3 children and it is our youngest 6th birthday today"

"Oh, well, let me see what I can do." She plays with the keyboard.

"Come right this way." She says and seats us immediately.

We pass Miss Molly Sunshine on the way to our table. I smirk (I mean smile sweetly) her way.:rolleyes1

The down side of being seated right away was that we never got the flower Lais or the group picture. I got over that real quick.

It was our first time there. They serve the food family style which means that all the food on the platter touches each other. Not a good thing for my picky eaters.

Cindy picks at some fruit. Eeoyre is repulsed by everything but a few pieces of bacon at the end of a platter. He inspects each piece for signs of cross contamination with another food. Jedi who is the most adventurous has some fruit and bacon.

I can't remember what the juice is that they serve there but I thought it was delicious. Jedi who has always adored tropical citrus-based drinks (I'm worried about the day he discovers how great they are with rum mixed in) also declares his love for it. He abandons food and just drinks. Eeoyre and Cindy just turn up their noses.

I notice that the family next to us have a little boy with a gluten intolerance. I know I shouldn't be easedropping on their conversation but when the chef comes out of the kitchen and speaks to them I couldn't help but notice. Apparently I couldn’t stop myself from listenning even after the chef left as I overheard about a sister-in-law who is in trouble with the law but that is a whole other story. The chef goes back into the kitchen and brings special Mickey waffles for the boy among other food items.

My kids notice the Mickey waffles. I guess the eavesdropping thing runs in the family. They want some. I'm not sure if they are just for special dietary requests so I don't ask for them.

Our waitress is refilling our tropical juices and overhears my kids. Next thing I know she is bringing out waffles and syrup for the kids. Bless her heart. She earned her 18% with just that one move. I checked in my wallet for some small bills I could leave for her as well without Dh knowing.

The parade starts. Jedi and Cindy are not going to get involved. But surprisingly Eeoyre jumps up. He makes an attempt to get his siblings to join in but they are not biting. Then he says something that reminds me that his pre-teen days are looming closely by.

"Mom, Don't you dare take a picture of me doing this". This from a boy who just last year was having hissy fits when he didn't get to ride in a stroller.

How quickly he is growing. Sometimes when I glance at him I can see a glimpse of the teenager he will soon be. Then in a fleeting moment it is gone and he is nine again.

So what is a mother to do when her DS9 asks her not to take a picture of him?

You all know don't you?

I took one when he wasn't looking. He doesn't know yet so don't tell him.

20506c1e.jpg

The kids were wearing t-shirts I had made for them out of "disigns" on the creative boards here. The boys had tank tops so I had to put long sleeve shirts under them. The boys only had 1 long sleeve shirt. I threw it in just in case at the last minute. I wish I had put a few more in with the weather we had.

Anyhow, Jedi's shirt has Stitch on it. Naturally when the characters came to see us only Stitch and Lilo were pleased to see Stitch on the shirt. Mickey came over to stand with me on the other side of the table when he saw the Stitch shirt so the kids had to walk around to my side for our Mickey picture.

By the time Stitch came by to see us Jedi had totally forgotten his outburst this morning. He was starstuck to see him.

fixedStitchandAdam.jpg

His siblings were not as amused. Take a look at Cindy's reaction.

37ca4c5a.jpg

Stitch tried to get her to come around and even enlisted Nanny's help but to no avail.

fbd2b730.jpg

There are no pictures of Eeoyre with Stitch. Eeoyre saw him coming and decided that was when he needed to visit the bathroom. Eeoyre is not fond of Stitch. He was brave enough to join in the parade but not to withstand a confrontation with Stitch. Go figure.:confused3

Our waitress brought Jedi a cupcake and a signed certificate from the characters. This is cupcake number 2 of the trip. I only mention that because Eeoyre and Cindy were keeping count.

"Why can't we go to Disney for our birthdays Mom? Why is it only Jedi that gets to have his birthday at Disney?"

"Because I am a teacher Hon and your birthdays are during the school year." At the time the idea that I might be able to escape to Disney for my own birthday in April was but a small voice in my head. I only work part-time as a teacher so some weekends I finish work on a Thursday and don't have to be back in the classroom until Tuesday. It just so happens that my next birthday falls on one of these weekends. But back to this Disney Trip-the one with the children.

Once the kids got their Mickey waffles I enjoyed the breakfast. I thought the food was great (the Mickey waffles weren't so great) but I enjoyed the special buns they have there. I took my stuffed tummy and an extra serving of the tropical juice in my refillable cup back to the monorail and off to MK for the day.

Up next I meet my first live diser and why are Dh and I not talking? http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=28710207&postcount=358

"You know you were supposed to be here for 8:00am? We gave your table away. You will have to wait to be seated with the 9:00am crowd."

O.M.G. I totally would have thrown down at this point of the morning. Grr.

"Come right this way." She says and seats us immediately.

We pass Miss Molly Sunshine on the way to our table. I smirk (I mean smile sweetly) her way.:rolleyes1

I love the smirk. LOVE IT. Oh, we Canadians can be quite passive aggressive when we need to be.

After breakfast our plan was to hit frontierland and do the two mountains. Eeoyre wasn't having any part of it. The weather was still iffy and I guess he had used up all his courage to combat Stitch earlier. So we split up. Nanny and Poppa took Eeoyre. I gave them instructions to do the Jungle cruise, the Swiss family Robinson treehouse and the Tiki birds for sure.

The two kids left hit the magic carpets and I rushed ahead to grab fastpasses for Thunder mountain.

I was minding my own business racing towards the mountain when I heard my name being called. Well not my real name but my Disboards name.

'Diamondintheruff!"

I'm sure it took a few calls for me to pay attention but I'm sure glad I did.

It was purplepeg and her family. We knew today would be the only day we would be in the same park but I didn't suspect we would actually run into each other.

In a moment they all surrounded me talking at once. I felt like I was famous.

They told me a bit about their trip so far (but you never told me you bought DVC). They were at the end of their trip. They were actually tanned.

Purplepeg has the picture because I left my camera with Dh. She's going to pop in soon (Hint Hint) and post it.

Speaking of Dh purplepeg asked me how Dh was doing this trip. We had been following each others pre-trip reports so she was familiar with how Dh doesn't share my affinity for all things Disney.

It was so surreal to see them in person. All three dimensional and everything.

I was so focussed on getting those darn fastpasses that I never did use. The place was empty again and we didn't need them. I wish I had of stayed to chat longer.

When I got back to the magic carpets I found Cindy around one side by herself. No Dh in sight. She told me that after riding twice she was bored but Jedi was still on them.

"Where's Daddy?" I asked.

"I don't know" she answered.

We found the stroller and pushed it to the exit of the ride. Sure enough Jedi came bounding off.

"Where's Daddy?" I asked again.

"I don't know" he answered.

Hum… I'm thinking. I left to get fastpasses and left this man, my husband; the children's father to watch them in a public amusement park and he just takes off?

Now, I know Disney does a pretty good job on park safety but still.. Who leaves a six and a seven-year-old unattended in a national theme park?

The kids go and play in the Tiki fountains while we wait for Dh to show up. The ones that repeat back the drum noise to you.

Another carpet ride lets off and still no sign of Dh.

I'm starting to get worried. We have plans in case one of the children get lost or (gulp) kidnapped but not if Dh does. Each morning we take a picture of the kids with both Poppa's and our cameras. Each child is assigned the same adult. I have clippings of the kids hair and nails in the safe at the hotel room. We have a family safety password. But there are no plans for a missing Dh.

Just as I'm about to go into full fledge panic something terrible has happened to my husband mode he comes strolling over.

"Did you get the fastpasses?"

The man has left our two school aged children alone for over five minutes without a word to anyone just strolls over casually and asks me if I managed to do the job I was supposed to do. What about the job he was supposed to do? The one called staying to watch the children?

"WHERE WERE YOU?"

"I had to go to the bathroom".

He has no idea why I'm so irrate at him that I can't even form complete sentences. My babies, my most precious things are not to be left unattended so he can go to the bathroom. He needs to take the children with him. They've been coming into bathrooms with me for years. It's what you do. He knows this. What is wrong with him that he would gamble with our children's safety like that?

He was gone longer than I talked to purplepeg. His absence totally sucked all the joy out of my unexpected meeting. I swear I had just told them that Dh was coming along and he goes and does this absentee father thing.

Me being furious with him just sets him off as well. He is now angry at me for making a big deal out of it. I'm so angry I don't want to be near him but I'm afraid to leave Jedi with him. I'm angry all over again writing about this.

Dh is a very involved Dad. He was a scout leader, a Sunday school teacher, he volunteers at all the kids trips and even volunteers in my kindergarten classroom. He runs his own business so that he could look after Jedi while I was working. He loves his kids. I know this. I am the protector and he is one who helps them spread their wings. Usually as a parenting unit it works. But I will never agree that he made a good decision to leave them alone on a ride to go to the bathroom. Never.

The kids want to do the Jungle cruise. They grab our limbs and pull us that way. We agree to do it. It's about all we can agree on right now.

I can't remember anything about the cruise due to my anger. All I had written down in my journal about the cruise was that I sat on the opposite side of the boat than Dh. Shame that I let my anger ruin the jungle cruise for me.

Jedi wanted to try the pirate tutorial so we hurried there only to find that due to the weather it was cancelled.

Up next our first taste of Dole Whips and thank goodness I packed change clothing.

While I'm glad you got to meet purplepeg (and feel all celebrity-like) all I'm doing is shaking my head at your DH. I bow to your ability not to throw him off the Jungle Cruise after a stunt like that. Although as you posted later, he does have some very excellent qualities. But alone in a park...again with the head shaking. Hopefully the Dole Whips made the day a bit better?

So glad that Jedi enjoyed his Birthday Breakfast and the juice is delicious isn't it :)

How great you met a DISer, it really is nice meeting people IRL isn't it :goodvibes

OMG your DH left your kids  I can't believe he'd do that and you had every right to be angry
