The only neat thing about an electric awning is the button to operate them
Actually, there are alot of neat features, you can easily and quickly raise and lower the awning based on weather conditions without having to leave your coach. If you don't want your awning extended all the way (since it does block some of your views) you can just extend it partway out so it blocks the sun but not the view. I love having the ability to bring the awning out when the sun is bright on that side of the MH but can just push a button to bring it in when the sun is gone and I want the daylight to come in.
Unless you have one of the high dollar ones with the wind sensor you can't leave them out safely when you are gone.
If you don't have one of the awnings with a wind sensor, you can just tie it down like you would a regular awning. Also if you have a wind sensor awning, you can control the sensitivity of it, to include turning it off.
There is no way to tie them down like a manual awning.
Answered above.
And if you don't leave it out where are you going to hang your awning lights
If you don't want to put your lights on your automatic awning, you use an E-Z up or the trees. We love having the E-Z up sitting on our site as additional space to setup our chairs and have the lights in the ceiling of it.
Also who wants to return to the RV in the rain so everyone can stand there and get wet while someone gets the door open?
No worries on that part. You use the remote control and put the awning out as you are getting to your site as dblr mentioned above.
