If this gets moved then I understand, but I wanted to share this with yall.

We just got back from a trip to VWL. While in the World, we met up with some friends who are also DVCers from our hometown. While there we ate several meals together which also included dinner at 1900 Park Faire. We had never eaten there before. For those that have, you know they have the character meals with Cinderella and friends.

We were just about done when Prince Charming came near our table. DS11 and DW had their backs to him as he approached. Just about the time he got there, DS says to DW, "Mom, he looks like Gomer" You know how kids are, what comes up, comes out!

DW busts out laughing, David, our friend says "Shazam" which didnt help to ease the laughing. It made for a funny moment.

That ought to help keep that "princely" ego in check! lol - out of the mouths of babes!!! :rotfl2:

A country bumpkin, reference Gomer Pyle from the Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle USMC. "Shazam" was one of Gomer's expressions.

Kids do say the darnest things!

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the laugh.

Jim.
Sorry, I was playing dumb. My interpretation is it comes from the book "House of God" and the inner city ER and hospital culture that formed the basis for same. I believe it is actually G.O.M.E.R and stands for Get Out of My Emergency Room. It tends to be applied to those less fortunates that are usually elderly and have no place else to go. By the way, I would only recommend the book if you are cynical or in the medical field as it's quite a harsh look at the culture.

That is so funny! When we ate there and the Prince came to our table, I asked him how he got to be prince.. .Did they make you work in the kitchen first? He was so cute... He got very snooty and said "I have ALWAYS been the Prince!" So I am imagining how your prince liked bing compared to Jim Neighbors!

We ate at 1900 on 12/11 before MVMCP. You should have seen DD's reaction to PC kissing her hand....priceless....but alas, no picture.

One time we ate there, Belle and the Beast were the "couple" for the dinner. My now age 11 son, was then about 4 and belle said to him "do you know who i am?" to which he replied "Sure, you're the BEAST"! We just about died laughing, LOL! She said, NOOOOOO, do i look like a beast? and he nodded, lol.

Hi Jimmy,

Still trying to decide on what dates, will probably go for the same as this year.
Hope to meet up again, maybe luck out and be neighbors again. Let me know your dates when you know.

Jim.

Most likely we will be there from Nov. 26 til Dec. 5 or 6. Not as many days as last trip but still will definitely be there.

They do tell all, dont they :listen:

Dean,
That was one of my favorite books back when I started working in ERs. It gave us a way to laugh at some of the more difficult cases we took care of.
Plus those of us who didn't work at Man's Greatest Hospital felt we mattered!

I always tell the med students to read it about a third to half way through their internship year, no reason to depress them any sooner.
