My DD (3 1/2) LOVES cake pops from Starbucks. She begs for them every single day, and often she'll get them 3 or 4 days a week. Well, at $1.50 each, that adds up.

We made her a deal that for every day she doesn't ask for or get one, we put that money in her piggy bank. If she doesn't have one again until Disneyland, it will be $265!! She's up to $12 right now.

Easy to apply to adults by skipping coffee, soda, or fast food!

Awesome idea!!
A few months before our trip I don't spend ANY change. Every cent goes in my piggy bank, and I usually get enough for a tank of gas, which is a bit disappointing.
Your idea sounds much better. Now I need to decide what I can't live without! :rotfl:

When I was a kid, anytime we were somewhere where we would be asking for snacks, drinks etc., my dad would give us each the money instead of buying something for us and tell us we could spend it or save it, our choice. Suddenly that $1 drink (okay, this was the 80's!) at the zoo didn't look so appealing if I could drink from the water fountain and put my $1 towards the bike I was saving up for. I think it's an awesome idea to use that sort of plan to save up for trips, too. And as a bonus, you're teaching good lessons for life!

Love it!!! My DD4 doesn't think yet beyond the big picture of "is it on sale mom". Gonna remember this one and use it soon :)
