A Fourth of Pixie Dust! A Fourth of Fun! A Fourth of Attitude! NEW! 4/6 pg. 26

Charles cracks me up!
I don't think I could ever do the drive from NYC to WDW.
Glad you FINALLY made it to POR.

When we drive, Georgia becomes the longest state that ever existed, of course. What if we had to drive as far as some of our northern friends do??? Even with the approx 11 hours we drive, I like splitting it up and making that Perry, GA stop for sleep.

Mostly, I like flying. :thumbsup2

I am the little old lady driver. I put the cruise control on two miles under the speed limit and putt putt ahead! ;)
Splitting up 11 hours? Oh I'd so love to drive 11 hours straight through and get there!!
I'm the driver who puts the cruise at 3 over the limit and zooms past drivers like you!

Although I'm sure the trip seems long, I am jealous of anyone within driving distance! I can't even imagine trying to do it from Iowa

Oh come on! If I can drive from MN - you can drive from Iowa!! It's not THAT bad. ;) (although I spend most of the trip alternating between sleeping and cursing that I'm stuck in a car for 24 hours).

I'm here! I have been neglecting my visits to the DIS, so this gives me a good excuse!

Love it so far. I wonder why there is a Memphis doorway at POR? I'm originally from Memphis.

Too funny about the razor! Sounds exactly like something I would do. Glad you were able to avert the crisis with your quick thinking and a Walgreens. I know that exact stretch of highway you're talking about with those billboards. I'll have to remember that game next time we make the trip. :thumbsup2 Thank goodness no one contacted the Disney police about your illegal U-turn! Looking forward to hearing about the bayou!

I knew I would get made fun of. ;)

You just keep on zooming by, little girl. I will wave at you when I pass you on the side of the road while you are talking to the nice highway patrol officer. :car: :wave2:

I actually used to be more fond of driving than flying. Sometime in the past five years, I changed my mind. Luckily, we can get decent flight prices much of the time. :thumbsup2 When we do have to drive, we usually leave after work, drive until bed time, sleep, then get up and do the last 5 1/2 hours the next morning. The last leg never seems like it is 5 1/2 hours, though. It seems shorter.

I just found your TR....happy to follow along!

Your family always has a fun time getting to WDW. :rotfl2:

Speaking from experience...I would gladly trade a drive from Georgia any day for the 26 hr one from here.
I can't tell you how awesome flying is!!! :woohoo:

Glad Charles made it to the restroom...I think we can all relate to how uncomfortable that feeling is.
I think you made a good call. ;)

No matter how seasoned packers we all are, it always seems to happen that "something" gets left behind.

Can't wait to see everything unfold.

When we drive from TX, we are really happy when we finally get to Georgia and then through it ;).

Looking forward to more!! I love POFQ and enjoyed visiting POR.

Having done the drive twice..... It is not too bad from the Carolinas.

Now that I have a hybrid what I spend on gas I have to get a really cheap flight to fly. BUt If I take into account my time or day there and a day back, a good flight price could sway me back to fly. ;)

Jumping on board...sorry I was a little late. I always love readings our TR and hearing Connorisms.

Hee Hee! :good vibes All in good fun I tease you of course! Knock wood, I've been fortunate on our trips not to be stopped. I can handle road trips, but especially on the way to WDW, I just hate that I am spending a whole day (or two) in the car instead of at the parks. We can't get anything less than $300 RT from here now, although DH was considering flying to Atlanta and renting a car and driving. Not sure that's any cheaper, since there's the bag fees, I can't pack as much, car rental's not cheap,...Oh well. We'll leave after work and drive all night most likely. DH can do it and then our first night at WDW we take it easy and get to bed fairly early so he can recover. Not ideal, but it's the price we pay for living so far away.

Okay Jackie, now that Charles had his potty break, and you didn't get a speeding ticket, WHAT NEXT?
popcorn::

I love your trip report!! It makes me laugh reading your potty break story. Is it bad that I would have done the same thing? LOL!!

Can't wait for more!!

Yay,the trip started! I for one cannot stand driving through Atlanta and south of it on I-75. It kills me that traffic just stops for no particular reason.
Glad you made it to the bathroom! LOL.

Yay for making it to Disney without (too much) incident!!!

No more incident than normal anyway.

You made it! Can't wait to see more!

It's always such a relief to arrive.

subbing! I feel like it is the old days. A CP Princess TR. And we are staying at Riverside next summer to boot! Yay!!!

Hi!!! You are going to love, love, love Riverside!!!

Haha I know all about those billboards. The first time I saw them I think Chad heard me complain every single time.

Now, on a funny note! Since you can't spell around Hollie and the fact that she loves to read. She saw the signs our last trip. Her words were, "Mommy, what in the world is a Cafe Rise......qqq qqqq qqqq ewwwy mean?" I told her it was a cafe that served rotten food! ;)

:lmao: Too funny!!! Chelsea on this trip said, "I can tell by the silhouette that those girls are not nice dancers." LOL!

Yes!!! I can not wait to hear his Connorisms! They make my day! :)

There is one in particular that I know you will love, Heather!

Oh my gosh, the start of your trips sound like mine! :rotfl: My Charles also gets really fed up with my (accidental) speeding. He always tells me that cruise control exists for a reason and I often hear, "the speed limit here is 65. It looks like you're going 80." Glad you made to Disney without -too- much incident!

I feel your pain. My Charles even fussed at me last night because we took two cars to my MIL's for dinner, and I got there quite a few minutes before him and Chelsea (she was driving). I made some comment about I was getting worried and he said, "That's because we were driving the speed limit."

We always forget something, it just can't be helped.

When we make the drive the boring part for us is in Florida. We are driving in Florida FOREVER. I think we'll play the counting billboard signs next time. We also found lots of cops in Florida.

The billboard sign game really helped. :thumbsup2

I'm so glad Charles didn't have an accident. I can't believe you actually ran the light. You're so brazen.

LOL! Dire circumstances! I wouldn't normally be so brazen.

We had our first stay at Riverside in Feb and loved it. It's just so pretty. I wish we had been there longer and been able to take advantage of everything they have to offer.

Same here! I wish we had been able to just have a resort day even.

:lmao: at Charles' dancing and your "special" driving technique to save him from an accident!!

It was worth it! LOL!

So glad you made it!
Hmm. - not a fan of the bayou?

I wasn't in theory.

It's funny that we get excited when we get to Georgia, even though it's still a ways to get to WDW. It's all relative I guess. For us, driving at night helps the "are we there yet" blues. No one says it when they're sleeping!

That would help, but I hate driving at night, so I don't know if that would be good for us.

I crack up at your drives. They always sound horrendous, but I know they have to be much better than driving from Delaware could ever possibly be.

They feel horrendous, Mary Ellen. Afterwards, I can always laugh about them, but by the time I get to Disney, I am a basket case.

Bummer about the razor!

Luckily that crisis was averted, but I won't forget it again. It will be something else.

How did you ever make it through an 8 hour class the night before you left? :faint:

It was rough...on both me and my classmates. I am sure they didn't appreciate me saying things like, "This time tomorrow, I will be checking in, etc." LOL!

Shocking I tell you!!!

If Charles drove a bit faster you would have been at the resort so he could use the bathroom there and not have to make a pitstop right before. :lmao:

:lmao: So true. Also, if Charles hadn't bought that bottle of water on the turnpike, we might have made it. ;)

I always feel like I forget something. I am finally at the stage where I know I am not in the wilderness and whatever I forget I can replace usually without too much effort. Just money. :rotfl2:

So glad you are on Property.

That's my attitude, too, but I didn't want to waste any time on this trip since it was a short one.

I was so glad to be on property, too.

Sounds like a fun trip so far! And when ya gotta go, ya gotta go! Sometimes risk is worth the reward (however, I would probably be with Connor and be paranoid someone would report me )

Will someone fill me in on what Cafe Risque is? I'm out of the loop!

Connor brought it up multiple times during the trip. LOL!

Cafe Risque is basically a truck stop with "exotic" dancers. They have a ton of billboards all along the highway which is so annoying.

Laughing while reading your morning start. Sounds like another family I know..... ;) And, then the left turn on red-Yep, I know someone else who regularly does that here in our own home town! (Late at night- when I'm sitting at a red light, and there are no other cars in sight?!?!)

Yay for arriving at POR. Can't wait to hear more!

Glad I am not the only one, Michelle. I don't think I have ever done that before, but it was an emergency. LOL!

I was so glad to pull into POR!

:lmao: I was about to say the same thing!

I can so relate to waking up the night before a trip with something that I need to remember to do or pack on my mind and then totally forgetting it the next day :sad2: I've learned to just go ahead and get up and do it right then....

I need to get into that habit because I never remember the next morning.

When we drive, Georgia becomes the longest state that ever existed, of course. What if we had to drive as far as some of our northern friends do??? Even with the approx 11 hours we drive, I like splitting it up and making that Perry, GA stop for sleep.

Macon to Valdosta is the worst. It's like the road that never ends.

Mostly, I like flying. :thumbsup2

I do, too, but the cost would be so much more and seven/eight hours isn't (or shouldn't be) too bad for us.

I am the little old lady driver. I put the cruise control on two miles under the speed limit and putt putt ahead! ;)

And that's the way I want Chelsea to drive, too. :thumbsup2

I am looking forward to seeing lovely resort photos. :)

Chelsea and Connor will be taking you for a walk in the next update!

Well goodness, poor Charles!! You drive to fast, compalain he is too slow, forget his all important electric razor and force him to shave the old fashioned way and has to endure an illegal turn in order to relieve himself...

That man is in serious need of some pixie dust pixiedust:

LOL! Yes, he was, but his day of drama was far from over. :rolleyes1

At least it sounds free of teen drama so far!! :rotfl2:

Yeah, that's coming, too.

Although I'm sure the trip seems long, I am jealous of anyone within driving distance! I can't even imagine trying to do it from Iowa

I have always told Charles that no matter where we move, I can't be more than eight hours away from Disney. LOL!

I will have to assume you have partaken of said Cafe if you tell your daughter it has rotten food.

:lmao:

20360633

I have been gone too long if I can't remember how to post a picture!

I think I might be thankful that it didn't post. LOL!

Great start!! I was laughing when I read about the billboards.. I know exactly what you mean ;) Everytime we go South past the airport , when they were little and started to read wanted to know what and where the PINK PONY was lol...

Those questions from kids always demand very creative responses. LOL!

that stretch of road past Macon is always under construction and boring for sure!

And it is still under construction.

Hope you enjoyed POR as much as we did :)

Loved, loved, loved it!!!

well rats, I swore I replied to this last night on the nifty app while at the gym.

Apparently not!

You always have the BEST drive stories, Charles kills me!

I am glad he got relief. :lmao:

You've arrived!

Is it any wonder that I always want a drink the minute we arrive? :rotfl:

Yayyy you made it!! I'm so bad for forgetting things my DH reminds me a million times to pack. We've adopted the attitude that we can either live without it or buy it there! Lol

Sounds like a pretty good travel day to start!

I try so hard to have that attitude, but then it always seems like it is something that is a pain to get -- like a razor or Charles's belts, or his hats...

:lmao: Well, at least you have rule-followers! My sister is the same way. Once when she was 17 she and my brother (who was 14) came to visit me for a week in the summer, and I was drinking some wine (I was 24). Brooke asked me what it tasted like and I offered her a sip - figured it wouldn't hurt b/c I know Brooke is the LEAST likely kid in the world to drink alcohol before she's 21. She refused. I was kidding around and acting like I was going to force her to drink it and she kept screaming and saying, "No...it's against the rules!!!!!" :rotfl: Now my brother, on the other hand, was trying to take sips behind my back. :sad2:

Too funny about Brooke! Well, Chelsea is not a rule-follower in other ways, but with the car, she is always pointing out things I do wrong. I blame driver's ed for that. ;)

Joining in, Cannot wait to read your report, you are off to a great Start!!!

Staying at POR in March so looking forward to more pics :)

Welcome!!! So glad to have you along!!! Lots of POR pictures coming up. You will love it there!

Charles cracks me up!
I don't think I could ever do the drive from NYC to WDW.
Glad you FINALLY made it to POR.

He is my comic relief for sure. ;)

No, that drive would be heinous. Keep flying!

Splitting up 11 hours? Oh I'd so love to drive 11 hours straight through and get there!!
I'm the driver who puts the cruise at 3 over the limit and zooms past drivers like you!

Oh come on! If I can drive from MN - you can drive from Iowa!! It's not THAT bad. ;) (although I spend most of the trip alternating between sleeping and cursing that I'm stuck in a car for 24 hours).

Someone would be dead in my car if we drove 24 hours straight. I.have.no.doubt. :lmao:

I'm here! I have been neglecting my visits to the DIS, so this gives me a good excuse!

Love it so far. I wonder why there is a Memphis doorway at POR? I'm originally from Memphis.

Hi, Susan!!! All of POR is themed around travel on the Mississippi, so they have the names of all the cities along it. It is very cool.

Yes, sadly, counting those billboards did make the time go faster. LOL!

I wouldn't have wanted to have to pay a Disney ticket for that little maneuver.

I knew I would get made fun of. ;)

You just keep on zooming by, little girl. I will wave at you when I pass you on the side of the road while you are talking to the nice highway patrol officer. :car: :wave2:

We saw several of those cars pulled over on the drive down.

I think because it is all downhill into Florida. :lmao: That's my theory anyway because it is the same for us.

I just found your TR....happy to follow along!

Your family always has a fun time getting to WDW. :rotfl2:

Speaking from experience...I would gladly trade a drive from Georgia any day for the 26 hr one from here.
I can't tell you how awesome flying is!!! :woohoo:

Welcome!!! I figure one day when we only have to buy two plane tickets instead of four, we will be able to fly again.

Glad Charles made it to the restroom...I think we can all relate to how uncomfortable that feeling is.
I think you made a good call. ;)

I do, too.

No matter how seasoned packers we all are, it always seems to happen that "something" gets left behind.

Can't wait to see everything unfold.

It always happens to us, and I really expected it to happen this trip because I was so rattled trying to get everything ready and take classes at the same time.

When we drive from TX, we are really happy when we finally get to Georgia and then through it ;).

Looking forward to more!! I love POFQ and enjoyed visiting POR.

That whole complex is so pretty -- we have stayed at POFQ twice and loved it just as much! :goodvibes

Having done the drive twice..... It is not too bad from the Carolinas.

Now that I have a hybrid what I spend on gas I have to get a really cheap flight to fly. BUt If I take into account my time or day there and a day back, a good flight price could sway me back to fly. ;)

For me there are pros and cons for both -- flying -- just the ease and time -- driving -- I can pack everything I want to and it is cheaper.

Joining in !! Looking forward to reading more !!

Welcome!!! So glad to have you here!

Thanks for trying! It's just showing a red "x" for me! I will try googling it

You might not want to do that, Stace!

Jumping on board...sorry I was a little late. I always love readings our TR and hearing Connorisms.

Hi, Kerri Lee! So glad you are here now!!! There is a Connorism that almost became the trip report title. LOL!

I'm joining in too

Welcome! I always love to have new readers!

Hee Hee! :good vibes All in good fun I tease you of course! Knock wood, I've been fortunate on our trips not to be stopped. I can handle road trips, but especially on the way to WDW, I just hate that I am spending a whole day (or two) in the car instead of at the parks. Sheree, you have the same thought process that I always have...

Next update coming up -- we are checking in! :thumbsup2

I love your trip report!! It makes me laugh reading your potty break story. Is it bad that I would have done the same thing? LOL!!

Can't wait for more!!

Thank you so much! I do love trying to make our family's craziness amusing. :lmao:

Yay,the trip started! I for one cannot stand driving through Atlanta and south of it on I-75. It kills me that traffic just stops for no particular reason.
Glad you made it to the bathroom! LOL.

I know what you mean about the traffic! We were so lucky that we didn't have any of that weird, inexplicable bumper-to-bumper traffic on the drive down.

Joining in, we were there some of the same days y'all were popcorn::

Welcome!!! We'll have to compare notes! :goodvibes
