Just got back from our WDW trip! We stayed at Fort Wilderness Campground from 3-28 through 4-2. We absolutely loved the campground! When I made the reservations I requested that we be near the comfort station and we got the camping pad right next door to the station! I think our loop was the Possum Path! The campground is so pretty and quiet, even with the buses running! Our only disappointment was that we were so busy at the parks that we only got to spend one afternoon at the pool and we never got to see the petting zoo or all the other stuff! Next time we go we'll plan on one fully day spent completely at the campground!:earsboy: :earsgirl:

Glad you had such a good time staying in Fort Wilderness! We usually save at least one whole day to explore the campgrounds. There is so much to do there. Next time you go set a day aside for campground exploring.

Part of our vacation plan now includes a minimum of one day at the campground. Since the kids are older and have other things to do, we always arrange to meet for lunch at Trail's End on the campground days. Even on park or golf days, I start every day with an early morning bike ride around the fort. I highly recommend this start. Very quiet and relaxing at FW around 6 am.

On our last two trips to FW we never went to the Parks. We mostly go to FW for the camping.

It looks like we have several FW veterans here...Where can I find the best package prices on the campground and tickets? Should I go directly through Disney? Thanks! :earsboy:

When we go to FW in July we go strictly to enjoy the campground. We go to one of the water parks also. I personally do not go into the parks to much anymore, I just enjoy the peace and quiet of beautiful FW. We like strolling to TE and going to the petting zoo.

ScottSTG...we personally don't ever buy a package, but Mousesavers.com tells when discount codes are available for both a campsite only and for packages.

We too love to go just for the campground! We are going for an unexpected trip to FW in May, just to relax at the campground, and I am SO excited! :Pinkbounc No parks, just going to ride bikes, swim, grill out, and RELAX!

ftwildernessguy, I'm a huge fan of the early a.m. bike ride. While DH sleeps later with our 2 toddlers, I go out for a ride. What a great way to start the day!

We had our 1st visit March 13-19 and LOVED IT. We also had very little time to spend enjoying the campground. The kids actually had more fun there then the parks. They gave up their last day at MK to fish and play at the beach. I couldn't get my 4yr old away from the beach area.

I am so glad I convinced my DH to get the Golf Cart, it was a lifesaver. I couldn't imagine having to wait for a bus everytime we wanted to hop somewhere. We were in loop 1400 right by the Campfire/Movie. Super location.

We're planning a non-park visit for the next time. (that won't be until I forget the horrible 16 + hrs in the car)

Take an RV to make the trip shorter, more fun, and you can make an interim campground stop along the way...
