A few thoughts and questions

Well, we've planned for almost a year and our time is drawing near. We leave home on Feb. 2. I have read and re-read lists, recipes, and tips. I feel prepared and ready. Then my DS3 says "mommy I can't wait to go to Disney, but I'm not going to watch any fireworks". What? not watch fireworks. That's one of my favorites. I can't wait to see Wishes. So, I find a video clip of Wishes and show it to him. He now decides we can watch fireworks. Problem averted. (Same scenario worked for the POTC ride). I wanted to let everyone know that I appreciate those of you who always take the time to answer questions and state opinions. It has been very helpful to our planning. Hopefully, when I get back, I'll be able to return the favor to others going on their first FW trip. Now for my final few questions, and this is directed to those who use the comfort station showers. What exactly do you do? I can't decide if I should get dressed at the campsite, walk to the CS and shower and re-dress, or do I just trek out in my PJ's and robe to the CS, hauling my clothing for the day with me, or trek out in PJ's and robe, shower, put PJ's and robe back on, trek back to campsite, then change into clothes for the day? I can't figure out what works best. I am guessing that hauling the towel, wash cloth, and necessary toiletries will be enough to carry, without clothes, but I'm not very fond of the idea of being out and about in my PJ's either. So, please share with me what you do.

PS...OT Kid Comment- Last night, we had just finished reading Peter Pan and it was time for bed, my DS3 starts crying, what's wrong I asked, his reply was
"I WANT TO BE AT DISNEY WORLD NOW"

All I could say is "me too, me too".

Since I generally shower in the evening I take my PJs and robe with me to the shower and walk back to the site in those. I have some nice plastic shower caddies for carrying all the toiletries(as well as small clothing items), and usually carry a small bath towel and my PJs and terry robe over my arm. If you haven't done so yet some caddies with drain holes in the bottom for your CS items is a good idea, as well as some cheep flip flops(I like the Walmart one with"bamboo" bottoms) to wear in the shower.

One thing I learned quickly, is make sure everyone has their own bathroom bag with toiletries, etc.

The first time we went camping, I packed one bathroom/shower bag for both DH and I. I had to wait while he showered, etc. first, then I got to use the bag.

For my family and most of the people we see at FW going to the CS to shower, carrying the clothes we will change into has been the norm, since most people are in their PJs (coming or going depending on when they shower) it doesn't seem wierd at all. Also, if people have to make a middle of the night visit to the CS they are in their PJs too.

I think it's quite ok to wear pj's and tennis shoes or flip flops around the cg. As long as it's not c thru I doubt anybody would care.

I love how complete strangers can calm my nerves. I think this gives me a good reason to go get some new disney PJ's. Thanks again everyone!

I wear a zip up house coat type thingy, not see through at all, but easy to put on if my legs are still damp. PJs would be difficult, if your legs are damp.

And everybody has their own shower bag. when the boys were smaller, DH would take them, and I would wait outside the door to receive them. Now I just send them.

I've gone to FW many times and I always walk to the showers in my PJs with my clothes and other shower stuff. To be honest, I never thought it was weird. I don't know why. In any case, almost every else is doing the same thing!

It is also perfectly acceptable to enjoy your morining coffee while still in your PJs out at the picnic table, weather permitting of course.

I swear that is my favorite part of camping, going way back when when I was little...walking around in our pajamas, sitting at the picnic table eating breakfast in our pajamas. Sooo much fun!

Trust me when I tell you that you will not be the only one in pj.
We have a nice shower in our RV but I perfer the CS. I use a shower caddy for my toiletries and flip flops are a must!

Same here, I have a bookbag that has all my toiletries in it. It also has room for a towel and change of clothes.

I shower at night, so my PJs are in the bag. Then when I return to the campsite (I tent camp), I toss the clothes in the hamper and pull out a fresh set for the next day. The next morning, the first thing I do is grab that bag and head for the CS. I then use one of the shower stalls to dress. When I get back to the campsite, I toss those PJs in the hamper and pull out a fresh set. Then repeat at night. Every two nights on my way to the CS, I also bring the clothes hamper and start the laundry while I'm in the shower, then it goes in the dryer when I get out, then I drop by the campsite and tidy up and check email on the puter, etc., then grab the dry clothes and go to bed.

I usually shower in the morning and get dressed before i head to the showers. I hate carrying so much stuff. I also have one of those zipper LL Bean bags for each of us and i keep it ready to go with shampoos, toothpaste, etc. THey have great hooks so you can hang them and access your stuff.

I've always treked to CS in my modest PJ's. Actually DH can't tell the differance between my 'camping Pjs' and my shorts and a t-shirt. I too love the LLbean bag with the hanger hook etc. DH job is taking DS10 and DS7 to the showers. He takes one bag with only towels, washcloth, soap, and the kid's robes. That way he's not worrying about them dropping stuff all over the place trying to get dressed and it's quick. They just dry off, put on their robes and get back to camp to dress in private. We have a pop up and still brush teeth,do hair etc at camp. We also wear our 'shower shoes' to and from CS's.

I have the LL Bean bag too, for me. I think I'll just send DH and DS3 with a back pack of their necessities, then I'll dress DS3 when he gets back to campsite. I've been to other campgrounds where it was "OK" to hang out in PJ's, but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't frowned upon at FW. The last time we camped, it was a primitive campground with no electricity or running water, so I'll feel like FW is a penthouse suite compared to that.
