I've never been one to YAGE - that is simply not my style. I have always been of the belief that fading into the background and leaving without a big hoopla is much preferable to stamping one's feet and saying they are leaving and never coming back.

That being said, this isn't a YAGE. I just want to ... state a few feelings that have been stirring inside of my head.

I have been a member of the DIS for almost 3 years now (well, it'll be 3 years in January). When I first joined, I was happy to find a place where I could share my love of Disney with many other people. It was a warm, supportive group, which was very nice. Dan Murphy, who I still very much respect, was one of the first people I met on here in person.

Then I had a DIS meet, and I met many other people - some of whom I still keep in touch with to this day. Why? Because they are the real deal. In my "travels" with them, I met other people. Other people that I like. Other people that I respect.

They say their opinions. They tell it like it is. Much like I like to do.

Does it make me a bad person because I associate with these people? No. Not at all. I have met these people in real life. They have been there for me to support me in times of trouble. Celebrated when times were good. And in the long run, I -know- these are my true friends.

And you want to know what true friends do? They back each other up. They are there for each other. And therefore, I will always be there for my friends.

Some may think that it's a "posse" mentality. I hardly call it that.

I call it being a friend.

I have to agree with you, Mona. I was at your meet in the mall, and the meet in your house. and I like a lot of DISers. and those of us who have become very close friends here and elsewhere have gotten some not-nice treatment from some people here. it's very sad, really.

I don't think you should leave here, my friend. your presence here is appreciated by some. though others have gotten nasty for no rational reason (you know who I'm talking about.)

but I do repsect your feelings. take a break if you really need one. you know where to find us.

Oh, I'm not going anywhere. I was just stating my opinions. So no, I'm not looking for any kind of a sendoff, nor am I by any stretch looking for people asking me to stay.

Just felt like I had to get about six months of frustrations off of my chest. Sometimes it just takes me that long to come up with the words to be able to state it in a manner that least offends, that's all. :)

{{{{hugs}}}} Mona
I am proud to call you my friend

Just wanted to thank you guys (Well.. most of you - those who didn't show me the door  :D

You all mean the world to me. :D

Thanks for your thoughts, Mona. Hoping all is well with you, Adam and your families.

Mona, I agree with your thoughts on friends. It's wonderful to know there are people you can depend on to be there for you, both in difficult times and when it's time for cheesecake! :)

May I ask a question that's a bit off-topic, please? What does YAGE stand for?

TIA!:D

YAGE = Yet Another Grand Exit (or Entrance, depending on which one fits)

As the person who coined the term "posse", I can safely say that you always appeared to be a very nice and warm person, Mona. Glad to hear that you have friends to turn to for support that you've met here on these boards. Its amazing how close we can be with people we've never met before, but I know exactly what you mean.

And I'm glad you aren't YAGEing. :) (who coined that term? Its hilarious, and one of my favorites DIS acronyms. :) )

Thanks, Steve. All I could think of was "Yell and Get Even", and that didn't seem to be quite right.;)

I'm glad you're not planning to leave us, Mona :)

First, thanks to all who were positive on this thread - Dan - yes - my family is all doing well now. :)

I think that I was the one who brought over YAGE from another Internet community that I've been a member of for going on 11 years now. It's when someone dramatically says: "I'm LEAVING..a nd no matter WHAT you do.. you CANT stop me! NO! NO! NEVER!" and then a few weeks later.. they come back as if they never left in the first place. ;) It was something that was (and still in some ways is) commonplace on this other community that I am a member of :)
