From reading this board I know many of you stay at the Radisson at Cape Canaveral.

I went to the website this afternoon trying to make a ressies for early june of 06 and couldn't. So I called the 800# and was told they only make ressies for 6 months in advance?? Is this right?

Also.. with the cruise package.. am I right about this... you can actually leave your car there at the resort (radisson) the entire time you are on the ship free of charge? They will take you to the port and pick you back up again?

Has anyone used this service? Did you feel safe leaving your car at the resort?

What is the resort like? Is it nice?

Any info would really be appreciated.

It looks like the rates are only listed on the website thru 4/06, which is 9 months out. It looks like you should be able to book in September since that is 9 months from 6/06. Still misinformation on their part. :(

thanks so much. I thought that 6 month window seemed a bit odd. I tried to book online and it wouldn't let me so I called the 800 number and that is what I was told. I guess I will just call the resort directly and see what I can do that way.

If you have any problems, ask to speak to Joe P. the general manager. He is an awesome person that will help with any problems within reason - he is the one that helped me get some cruisers out of harms way when they were stranded here during the hurricanes and we only had a few hours to work with.
If I can help in any way, just drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com
Blessings always

So I called the 800# ....

That was your first mistake! You may save a few cents by calling a 1-800 central reservation system, but all you get is some idiot in Timbucktu that answers the phone.

Call the local number and get the local rates that may not be known to the cental reservation system.

We stayed there in November of '04 and really liked it.

I requested a room with a view of the ship on departure morning. They upgraded us to a suite to accomodate my request!

We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast was better than dinner which was very average. Take a buck to breakfast to tip the omlette guy - he was excellent!

We left the rental car with a trunk full of luggage parked at the hotel - no problem.

We left the resort on the shuttle at 11:30. We didn't stand in line for anything, just walked right up, checked in and walked right on. They had the lobby decorated for Christmas and it was beyond breath taking. My DH asked me what I wanted to do 'next' after we walked on board and all I could say was 'look' with big tears in my eyes. It was so far beyond anything I could have ever imagined. It was simply awesome.

Enjoy!!!! We would stay there again without hesitation.

We stayed there in June for our 4 night cruise.

I didn't book the shuttle ahead of time because we got our hotel toom at military rates, so I thought it wasn't included. When we checked in, and were asked if we were signed up for a shuttle time, I told them no. They got the 4 of us on a 10:45 shuttle. I was a bit hectic because they were doing 3 ships, but it went very quickly and smoothly.

We used the parking lot at the Radisson, had no problems, very well lit.

We are going to stay there next summer before our cruise.

The Rad is where we stay. We have for 3 years now and plan on making it a fourth.

One I highly suggest calling the Rad directly. You can get the same rate on-line as you can by calling. In the past this has not been true, but in the last 2 years they have beome extremely popular with cruisers.

Yes, you can book several months out. You should have no problems in booking your stay. You can also go ahead and make your shuttle reservation at the time of reserving your room.

I would try to speak with Bridgette. She is the one who has helped me in the past. She really is amazing.

You do NOT have to do the cruise package in order to use the shuttle. Matter of a fact it can be a waste of money. Govt standard rooms are $105, AAA standard are $109, ti goes up from there.

I have always felt comfortable in leaving my car there during a cruise. We neverleave anything out for people to see. We always store anything like that in the back or trunk.

The first eyar we stayed there we were able to park in the front and on the sides. We got a premium front parking place. The next year they had changed the parking to the very back lots. It is a hike to the front of the hotel, so you need to park early. DH and FIL did not and they almost missed the shuttle. LOL

The Country Inn & Suites will be opening in December. It is going to be taking the title from the Rad of being the sloest to the port. The resort is owned by the same company that owns the Rad.

Hope this helps you out.

Here is a website I like to go to that tells you a little about the area. I use it for hotel and restaurant information. You can get a coupon from Grill's for 10% off if you go to their website from this one. www.cocoabeach.com

Thanks so much everyone. I called them directly last night and got a quote of 149.00 per night for the four of us (two teens ages 13 and 17). This was for the two room whirlpool suite which is exactly what we really wanted and will need. We are driving from our home just outside of Dallas to Ohio to see my neices high school graduation.. staying in my brothers very crowded house with his family for a few nights then driving from there down to Cape Canaveral. So the extra space and whirlpool tub will be SOOOOO welcome. ;)

I am going to call in just a few minutes to actually book the room.

Also.. I really appreciate all the help I have been getting from this forum. I have learned so much. :goodvibes

I am glad you were able to get what you wanted!!

We have stayed in one of the Suites with the whirlpool tub. It was one of the nicer whirlpool rooms I have stayed in. I loved the whirlpool. It has a few mirrors located around the whirlpool. You have a nice selection of shampoos and soaps as well.

They missed up upon checking in so they compted me 4 free breakfast buffets the next day. Very nice. The breakfast buffet gets busy early. If you plan on eatng there go early leaving plenty of time to check out. We ate then headed backto the room for a little while for the last minute things.

Those rooms are excellent. Lots of space, you will be very comfy. The kids have to come into master bedroom to use bathroom though..that is the only drawback. Pool is beautiful. I don't envy your drive. We have made that drive you are talking about.

Since you will have a car, definately go to grills for your meals...they are excellent, and very close.
