A Few Questions

I'm going to Disneyland for the first time in September and I was wondering a few things. I'll be traveling alone there and I wanted to know if it's possible to do both parks in one day. Also, is the One Day Hopper pass still going to be available. Lastly, I plan to stay at the Holiday Inn at the Park,is it within walking distance to the park entrance. Thanks in advance for the info.

As an adult travelling alone you can see quite a bit. You can do the single rider thing for Splash Mtn. and Soaring to name a few. I would check in advance about what rides have the single rider option. Also since you probably want to skip some of the kiddie rides, won't have to wait for other people to go to the bathroom etc. you will probably move fast. Remember to get there a half hour before the park opens, you'll be amazed at how much you get done. Also, are you going after labor day? If so crowds will be much less. Since so many rides are down for refurbishment right now that cuts back on what you can do. You can call the Disneyland main number to ask about the one day park hopper if you don't get an answer on that one. Just a note... they didn't have the single rider line for Soarin' while we were there 2 weeks ago.

There's not really a line--you go up to the FP entrance and ask for a pass and then they send you down the FP line until you get to the CM there--the CM will send you down a different line. There is a sign that says single rider available and to ask for a pass. It works similarly on all the other DLR rides that offer single rider except for the Maliboomer and Muhulland Madness which do have dedicated singles lines (no pass needed) and most of the others send you in through the exit. The only reason they may not offer it at a given time is if they've run out of passes at that time--a problem I've never encountered on Soarin'.

We didn't try to use it, but heard others complaining that they weren't using single rider anymore for Soarin'... just after they talked to the CM. We didn't pay any more attention since it didn't apply to us, anyway.

Interesting. I was there on Saturday but didn't ride Soarin' so I don't know if they've changed things, but I was there June 29th and used the single rider line that day. I think it's been very successful with that ride in particular because otherwise they'd have a lot of empty seats. Maybe they simply ran out of passes up front and were waiting for some to be brought back up. I know GRR was offering the singles line on Saturday. I got soaked.

You can not accomplish both parks in one day, even alone. You can do the highlights and some smaller attractions but you would miss alot. If you only have one day I would stick with Disneyland and see as much as you can there. If you want to try both parks (I think they have a one day park hoper ticket for $69, but am not posative as things change quickly) you would have to move fast all day long and never have time to enjoy the atmosphere of the parks.
The Holiday Inn at the park is ceratinly walkable though it is a bit of a far walk. It would probably be 20 minutes or so to the front gates of the parks. If you aren't locked into the hotel there are many others to choose from that are just as good that are much closer.

They were doing single rider for Soarin on Saturday as we saw people using it.

Hi, Alan--we'll be there on the 27th also!

The last time we were there, we traveled at the same time--the last week of September--arriving on Monday and leaving on Friday. There were practically no lines anywhere. We didn't bother with FP's at any time but Friday, when we used them to get into the Haunted Mansion Holiday, which had opened that day. We didn't ride Soarin'. We did ride Indiana Jones, and had to actually stop at certain points to see the special things in the queu, because there was almost no line and we pretty much walked right up to the loading area.

The worst lines were in Fantasyland, especially for Peter Pan, Toad's Wild Ride, and Alice in Wonderland.

If you try to do it all in one day, even during this slow time, you will have to skip some things. Even more so if you try to do California Adventure, as well!
