Hi, We are wanting to camp at Fort Wilderness this will be our first time ever camping. I was looking on the map to see spot but I am not sure what I am looking at. Can someone help me on the best spot. We would like something close to things but we dont want to be near alot of noise. Is that possible? Are you able tell the campground where you want to be? Thank you for any suggestions

Thank you

Michele

Michelle,

:welcome: to the DIS Camping Board. :disrocks:

When you say this is your first time camping, how will that be exactly? In a tent, in a trailer (do you own or are you renting one?), RV, or in a cabin?

The Fort has three primary roads through it off of which are circle/loops of cabins or campsites. The campsites (not cabins) are in four different categories in order of price (Tent/Partial, Full, Preferred, Premium). The absolute most quiet campsites are probably backside of 2000 (Tent/Partial), 1800/1900 (Full), backside of 800 or 1100 (Premium), and so forth.

During the early check-in process you can specify a preference of location (a specific loop number, near a Comfort Station, near a bus stop, near the pool, etc). You can also add a note on your reservation when you call it in. Disney will try to honor your request but it is not a guarantee.

We are going to renting a camper, try it before we decide to buy one. One of the camper companies told me 100 or 200 loop is good. What do you think?

Thank you

Michele,

I stayed in loop 100 this past April. It is a Preferred loop close to the beach, Trails End, and Settlement Trading Post.

These two loops (100/200 that the camper company told you about) are sort of "in the middle of the action" and aren't what I would consider quiet. There's bus action on the main road nearby, you can hear the boat whistles and loud night parade music off the water, the MK fireworks, and the like.

What do you want to be close to? The main pool/Trading Post/campfire singalong area? The bus stops that take you to the parks? The boat dock that goes to MK, WL, and CR? Once you decide what you want to be close to, then decide what type of site you want to reserve. I offered some choices in the Full/Premium types you should consider but other folks may offer other opinions.

Of the Preferred types (which I didn't mention for quiet spots - now you know why) there is loop 300 which is Preferred which is probably the quietest of the three loops 100/200/300 Preferred's but it is also a pet loop which can have animals outside sometime, some barking, etc.

Choice is yours. Good luck!

As usual, Bama Ed has summed things up nicely! I'd go with 1800 or 1900 for quiet or 300 for "close to the action"". ALL sites and loops have advantages (and disadvantages) but you really can't go wrong . All of the above loops are pet loops if that's important one way or the other. ENJOY

We were just in the 200 loop for 8 nights and I didn't find it noisy at all. We heard pretty much nothing while inside the camper, but yes, we could hear fireworks and the electric light pageant while outside. It was nice to be close to Trail's End so we could get refills if coffee / hot chocolate in the morning. The meadows was only about a 10 minute walk. We would definitely stay there again. (Keep in mind, the sites around us were empty half the time as campers came and went throughout the week).
