A few questions about upgrading from PH to AP.

Here's the plan: I'm going to use my Airmiles to pay for a 5-day PH. When I get to DLR in the afternoon I'm going to use my PH and upgrade to a Signature AP so I don't need to pay for the PP+ per diem. SO...

When I upgrade at the ticket booth, I still need to go to the store to activate the PP+, yes? I can't do that at the ticket booth I don't think, right?

There's no EMH/MM on this ticket, so it won't matter necessarily WHEN I upgrade, correct? If I decided to do it the next morning, say.

If we end up at a Good Neighbour hotel, will they give me a MM/EMH pass even if I have an AP?

A 5-day PH should have one MM on it. But if you upgrade to the Signature AP before you use the MM, you lose the MM. There are no MMs with APs. If you're staying onsite, it won't matter because you'll get EMH every day. You don't need a separate PP+ card when you have a Signature AP - the AP card itself is your PP card so you just give it to the photog and they scan it to link the photos to your account.

If you're offsite, and you don't use the MM before you upgrade to an AP, you won't get an MM.

We've done the airmiles to ap upgrade before. We are planning on doing it again this next trip coming up. We are offsite so our plan is to hit the parks the first day we are there (only half a day which internally KILLS me as my head is screaming YOU ARE WASTING A TICKET!!!) and then the next day is our MM so we are going then and then later that morning we are upgrading. We get our MM and then we get to use the AP's for the savings for the rest of our trip. It also happens to be a Saturday, which is a blackout for all but one of the passes we are planning on getting so we will still be able to go in.

PP was really succinct. You will get a MM with your pass. If you are off site, use that before upgrading. Or you don't get it. If you are onsite you will get EMH or MM everyday so no biggie.

I'm the same way - my first day is only half day but STILL! If I want photos, I gotta either shell out the $40 (which is what... $100 CAD? ) or upgrade upon arrival and lose my MM.

I looked at the Airmiles sight and it says nothing about an EMH/MM included in the ticket, so I didn't think I got one. But if I do, then the Friday will be my day (I'm staying off site I think)... and that's DLR, right? And I'm okay with that because on the last trip, we stayed on site and trying to get my family up early enough for MM/EMH was a killer. On this trip I can go when I wake up and be there for Peter Pan!

I'm not positive, but, I think you could get a PhotoPass card from a photographer and add them to your account and access after you upgrade?? Maybe someone else can confirm this.

I upgraded to a Signature AP in January. When I did that all my previous PhotoPass photos from a purchased PhotoPass in November showed up in my app. I thought it was crazy but cool!

Maybe someone else has experience in upgrading to signature for the PP+ photos.

Well my trip is only Thurs-Mon, so I don't really want to wait two days for a MM and pay $80 (so like... $200 CAD ) for PP+. I'll probably wait til the whole family goes next year and we'll just try for a MM then. I already spent the airmiles and got my flights, so I can't change them to Wednesday night in order to get a MM on the Thursday. At least, I don't think I can...

I can change it! I'll call their reservation line tomorrow and see what it'll cost me to add an extra day so I can get MM on my BIRTHDAY at the park! Squeeee!

I know you are exaggerating but at least it's getting better - $40 is actually only $53CAD today!

Not 100% sure on what you are asking, but just to be clear you must upgrade to an AP on or before your last day of your multi day ticket. If you have a 5 day ticket, you must upgrade before the end of the 5th day of use. Morning of the 6th day your ticket no longer has any value to upgrade.

If you are staying off site, use the MM before you upgrade but I would do it as soon as you can to get the discounts. No offsite hotel offer MM, those are only attached to your ticket.

Also, watch out for blackout dates on the AP you are going to upgrade to. You do not want to upgrade to an AP only to find out that you are now blacked out when you could have gotten in with your PH ticket. You can however upgrade on a blackout day and the AP will be valid on the day you upgrade even though it is blacked out...but the upgrade must be done ON that blackout date.

It's probably already clear, but Good Neighbor hotels don't give out any MM/EMH perks. Only the actual Disney Hotels do.

Since you are upgrading to APs it's not such a big deal to only have half a day. It just makes your expiration day that day. But you still get your pick of the 350 days at the park. Aren't APs nice?

Even if you upgrade your ticket to an annual pass in the middle of your trip you will still be able to get all of the photo pass pictures that you acquire over the five days. You just need to get a photo pass card from one of the PhotoPass photographer and use that before your AP is activated. Any ride photos you take, take note of the photo number by either taking a picture of it or having a cast member write it down for you. When you activate your annual pass and you apply it to the Disneyland app all you have to do is enter the photo pass card number and the ride photo numbers and all of those will come into your account because they were taken while your pass was active. Your pass effective date is going to be your first day in the Parks.
MM is overrated IMO.
