A few questions about ground transfer/port arrival/testing positive at port logistics

Hello all -

Sorry if these have been asked/answered ad nauseum...I searched the forum and saw some answers but just want to confirm since this is my wife and I's first cruise ever. We (hopefully) will be on the Disney Dream sailing March 7th-11th and we plan to fly into MCO on March 5th to spend a couple days in the Disney Springs area.

1.) We added Disney Cruise ground transfer from MCO to Port Canaveral. Our schedule PAT is 12:15 to 12:30pm. Our travel agent says we should check in with a MCO Disney Cast Member at 11am. Since we'll have a rental car for the couple days we're around Disney springs, I'm planning to return the rental to MCO at 10am. Will this get us to the port in time or should I plan for earlier?

2.) Fortunately, I have a 90 day COVID recovered waiver so I will not have to test at the port. Unfortunately, my wife does not...tried as we may, she's been through 5 PCR tests over the last month and all came back negative. How long does it typically take to get the test result from the port? It seems others that have posted here are around 45 mins - 1 hour? Is that typical? If no issues arise, how long does it typically take from PAT to boarding the ship? We're both vaxxed & boosted, so we have our fingers crossed/butts clinched we don't have a last minute positive.

3.) In the unfortunate event my wife does test positive, will Disney put as back on a Disney Cruise Line motorcoach or will it be some other service? Will we be refunded for the return trip of the Disney ground transfer?

Thanks in advance!

That should be plenty of time. It's about an hour 15 minutes to get to the port. However, you don't really need a PAT if you are taking DCL transfers as they only check PAT if you are arriving by car. So you could always show up at the airport earlier and get on the next available bus.

We're both vaxxed & boosted, so we have our fingers crossed/butts clinched we don't have a last minute positive. The test processing time is typically around 30-45 mins. Add 15 minutes to take your test, 15 minutes to check in at the terminal, waiting for your boarding group to be called, waiting for your turn for the welcome show, etc., it's more like a 90 minute process from getting off the bus to getting on the ship.

DCL will take you back. You can elect a full refund or apply to a future sailing. If you choose refund, you get money back for anything booked through DCL except vacation protection plan (insurance). So that includes the return bus transfer, cruise fare, port fees, any pre-paid gratuity, any amenities you pre-booked for the room like robes or bubbly.

Awesome! Thank you! The DCL transfer was a last minute addition (just added it today actually). So in that case, we could arrive at the port earlier than 12:15 without a problem?

Yes you can show up earlier. We are also taking DCL transfer from MCO to the port. I talked to a CM and was told this.
