A few questions about an Aug. 2017 stay :)

We are planning on our first visit back to WDW since 2005. So far we have secured DVC studios for Aug. 17-Aug. 23 by renting points at the BWV. It will be myself, my DH, DD who will be turning 21 and her boyfriend in two studios. My parents and 15 year old son will be joining us (hopefully) for the first 5 nights before returning home. Soooo in planning all of this I have questions on booking rooms, adding nights for a split stay and charges when more then 2 adults share a room?

Here goes: I know it is a lot :)

1. My parents and son would like to stay in the BW Inn side and I think that is best. I know we may all be in separate wings of the resort and that is ok...we have done that with the GCH many times.
I have thought about using a travel agent for their portion in hopes of getting some discount.
Will TA do room only? Will it help to use a TA for a discount?
I could wait to see if discounts come out but I am anxious to get their rooms booked since ours are already booked. Should I just book and hope discounts come out and I could apply them?

2. We are set to check out of BWV on 8/23 and we would like to just do a deluxe resort our last three nights. All four of us in one room. Do they charge additional fees for more then two adults in one room?
I have been doing some checking on the WDW website and it seems they do. I was hoping someone would know. I am not tied to any one resort although everyone seems to like the idea of AKL. I am intrigued by the Poly.

Thank you in advance for any information or advice. I cannot believe how different it is planning a trip in 2017 then it was in 2005!!

1. Some TAs do have special rates. Others will look for Disney discounts for you. Depends. Most TAs will do room-only.

2. Resorts will charge a fee for more than 2 adults in a room. DVC resorts are an exception to this rule. I believe the amount varies by resort level (more at Deluxe, less at Value).

1- I have never used a TA for our WDW vacations. I have found good discounts that Disney gives to the public. I just watch for them and call right away to see if it can be applied to my existing reservation.

2- I am not positive about BWV charging for an additional adults, I know the regular, non-DVC rooms charge. AKL is beautiful, very remote and quiet. Poly is in a great location, wonderful theme and large rooms with a daybed.

Thanks so much for the replies! I am glad to figure out they charge additional for additional adults. That is not the case with DL Resort hotels... we do DLR around four times a year as we live in California. It is so hard to decide resorts! Honestly I think I would be happy with any of them! I figure Poly and AKL are different enough from BW that they would be good choices for a split stay.
Thanks again!

If you know they are going and you want to book BWI, it would probably be better to book sooner rather than later. Yes, if a discount comes out and it is applicable to BWI, you can modify your reservation. You may want to check out the August resort discount thread on these boards to see what others are doing in terms of booking discounts with TA's.

At a deluxe resort, you will be charged $25 + tax per adult, per night for more than 2 adults in a room. Both AKL and Poly are beautiful, but I would really recommend Poly for 4 adults as the rooms are much larger than the AKL rooms.

thanks Marthasor... we are going to just book the BWI for them. My parents want a Boardwalk/water view and in reality we are going with or without a discount, so sooner rather then later better. I will check out the discount/code threads for August.

I am really leaning toward the Poly but everyone else seems to think they want to see animals lol. I am thinking tropical drinks but... :) Thanks
